Re: The Official Mumbai Offline Meet(G2G) Thread
Can someone suggest a good route for Mumbai to Goa...
Planning a road trip for the 1st April... AS200, Fazer and an Activa...
Which highway bikes won't be allowed...
What's the best time to leave...
Where can we have a stop over...
Someone who's been there, done that...
TIA

There are two routes NH17 (now NH66, single lane) & NH4 (4 lane with divider).Originally posted by Vicky_New_Guy View PostCan someone suggest a good route for Mumbai to Goa...

You can take the NH4 road. Which is safe & fast. Only Mumbai-Pune expressway does not allows bike, otherwise you should be good.
No need for a stop over. Start early morning & reach Goa by evening/night.
Have a safe ride!

Re: Mumbai to Bangalore
If you are taking the NH4 route which is via Pune, then you could take a night halt at either Hubli or Chitradurga. Chitradurga has some decent hotels which are reasonable and offer safe bike parking and are located along the highwayOriginally posted by joshdsy View Posthey

I had a disaster of a first run. Couldn't complete the ride. We took the NH66 or the NH66 took us(bad road sense) I'm planning a solo run again next month. Could you please guide me through the NH4 route. Could you please elaborate on how to skip the expressway.
Please try and be as detailed as possible.

Take the old pune highway for going via NH4.
For that you need to go below the expressway bridge from Kalamboli McD. And go via panvel city.
Post that you will see boards for Lonavala / pune. Keep going straight on those. Only on one that section will bikes be allowed on the expressway. Take the first exit for Lonavala there.
Post Lonavala just keep heading straight.
You will then pass pune - satara - kolhapur.
Post Nipani just ask anyone for Amboli Ghat.
Once on that road it will lead you straight to Sawantwadi. Just take a left onto the NH17 here and head towards Panjim.
Do let me know if you have any queries.---

Note:
For any ride, whether short or long, we advocate the usage of riding gear. No rider is allowed on weekend rides unless he/she complies with the following..
Documents
a. Valid Driving License: MUST have and carry at all times
b. Bike Registration Papers: Original or Attested Photocopy
c. Bike Tax Certificate: Original or Attested Photocopy
d. Bike Insurance: Preferably a comprehensive insurance, personal insurance would be a plus.
e. PUC Certificate: A valid PUC certificate
f. His\her info in the ICE sheet is updated
Safety Gear
a. Helmet: Has to be in good condition and preferably ISI/DOT certified
b. Thick Jacket/Riding Jacket: Must have inbuilt armour or external armour is also allowed

d. Knee Guards: Either bionic or regular flex type. Should be worn inside trousers if non bionic.
e. Riding Boots/Sports Shoes/Army Boots: Anything that covers the foot well.
For weekly\fortnightly meets wearing gear is optional. However if you are coming on a bike, helmet, shoes, Denims/Thick trousers are the bare minimum you should comply with.
Coming geared hasn't harmed anyone and so help yourself
You can subscribe to the Mumbai SMS channel here:
