GPRS is used ONLY for downloading the maps and POIs
You can download the map you intend to visit in varying level of detail using wifi or gprs and then use it from cache when you tour.
Hyperion, Gopi, are some of the ones I know who use the Nokia GPS thingy a lot...
PS: its no longer hi tech. If you want a gps phone, get one based on a blackberry or a windows phone.Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

Well, nokia maps are crap, sometime back they recorded Razor's speed at 200 kmph somthing on his RTROriginally posted by mitz View PostAny of you guys have any experience on using high end nokia phone GPS for touring purposes ?? I'v nokia maps but it does'nt work well without GPRS & we dont get GPRS easily when we tour outside mumbai so the need of GPS.
Download Google maps, easy to use & much more friendly. It is used by Me, Cos, Razor, Rachit, Alankar & many other. You can add us on G-latitude so we can follow your journey

Thanks bro.. I'd contact Hyperion, Gopi in that case..Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostGPRS is used ONLY for downloading the maps and POIs

Using the map through cache is my current option as of now but so far whenever I got stuck with no help around, cached maps option had hardly helped me as I never get detailed levels of the maps cached & just have the general route of my intended directions in my cache.
PS: I'm personally not a fan of BB but it will be definitely my next 1 for sure once i wear out my current nokia N85
