petrol over here is 62.5 a litre. Cops here catch people at their will. But never seen anyone catch for other state registration. Don't know about road tax. Keep your ride at some rented garage. Won't be hard to find.Originally posted by tanay View Post

Show your signatureOriginally posted by tanay View Post@ Kolkata Xbhpians, I shall be shifting to Kolkata by July and have the following questions:
1) I have a Karnataka registered bike. Do the cops in Kolkata specially catch the bikes from out of state?
Dont think so,seen many KA,DL registered bikes plying on road
4) What is the current petrol price there
. Normal petrol will do.
Rs 62.50
5) The institute I am shifting into does not allow bikes on campus, so I need to keep it outside campus somewhere. Please advise on risk of bike theft in Kolkata.
Shifting to IIM? Bikes are stolen in Kolkata, frequency is not so high in Behala I guess.
And lastly, if any of you happen to stay in Joka and know of a safe parking place near the Diamond Harbour road, please let me know.
Thanks.
Diamond Harbour Road is 43 kms long, will you be living as PG? You can get a garage on rent but it will cost you!petrol can be siphoned off, happened with my teacher's bikeLast edited by haxor; 04-26-2011, 12:21 AM.Speak Less,Speak Wise!

next G2G..... here we go...... with a purpose!
oh.... after a long time.
I was carefully going through all the posts and I realized that we need to spend time together and discuss regarding GROUP RIDING TECHNIQUES, which, at least I need to know.
Guys, I often ride solo because I don't feel comfortable in group ride. So, I would suggest you guys to have a G2G and let's share our views and understanding. We can also invite some senior to share some ideas.
Brothers, Its not bad to discuss and argue on some topic. But we have to take care that our words should not hurt the sentiments and ego of my fellow brothers. Who knows, if I face any mishap at the highway, probably he would be the person to rescue me (and let me tel you, rescuing somebody in that situation needs a Lion's heart and tons of courage). Pardon me if I am wrong.
So lets plan for a meet for discussion regarding group riding techniques.
What say guys?Move on.........

+1 on whatever you said. But please see to it that everybody's opinion, if correct, is encouraged, and discouraged if wrong, exclusive of their age and riding experience.Originally posted by on wheels View Postoh.... after a long time.

i mean that's how it should be right?
and i'm really sorry if i have offended anyone but i just prefer to speak out whatever i feel rather that keeping it within me
i am only interested to improve ourselves as a group, as a team.
and for that if i have to argue, i will because we are like brothers here and i'm sure we all will not bring ego between.
and i would request everyone here, if anybody feels i'm wrong somewhere, online or offline, please tell it to me directly as i am a person who is willing to learn from everybody.
so please, discuss with me, argue with me, but please, let me learn from all of you.
i'm sure i don't know many things which many of you know.
take care brothers.

Hit the NH6 at night today with my best friend, who is ofcourse newbie to hardcore biking and riding.
He wanted to realize how good has his Pulsar180 Classic graduated to BMW SRT200
,so we hit the highway with his pre-testing bike and without any cameras or whatsoever. We went upto Azad Hind Dhaba and then came back. The headlight of my bike is of no help at night, and the other bike with me is in testing phase, hence we rode very very slowly.........our journey took 5 hours to and fro as we docked our neighbourhood by 11 o clock at night. However it felt nice riding that slow and feeling the sweet breeze and star studded highway sky
(Thank God NH6 has very good roads, because most of the part of the highway was in darkness, don't know why)
After pre-testing my friend's p180 classic on Highway, the troubles that cropped up are,
1.10 years old gearshaft has made it impossible for smooth gearshifts.
2.the headlight needs adjustment in the correct way.
3.mileage on the recently rebuilt engine is 20 kmpl.
4.chain and sprockets are goner,(God bless that the chain did not screw up on highway
)
However, it was nice adventure, since we both exchanged our bikes and rode.My bike got praised as usual. The Pulsar180 classic's throbbing engine had blown my heart away, the handling is wonderful with clip-ons.........this bike has definitely good performance, but needs more time and tune to become the perfect highway bike.
A picture from my mobile camera,as we stopped by a soft-drinks shop during our return to neighborhood :
