Well, as a matter of fact around 25-30 Kms (not in a single stretch), has a good scenic that cannot be missed.

@Manoj - I think he wants to ride in ECR but doesn't want to get into the city; what I'd in mind was NH4-Maduravoyal-Tambaram (via bye pass)-Vandaloor-Kelambakkam-Kovalam; by this way he would be missing (Sorry happy biking) about 22 Kms off which roughly about 12 Kms could be sea view. Also like to give you an info that you cannot have a sea facing ride all through out the ECR, it would be available in few stretches; I could be wrong, but I doubt if you could have a sea view after Kalpakkam.

      • I'm ok for the long ride, if we could arrive a plan would be great.

Can we start discussing about the number of participants and travel plan?

        Are we going on Friday/Saturday?
What time are we planning to start?

Note: I work in the night. Though it is off on Friday April 2nd, my thursday business hours ends only in the early morning.

If you think touching as in what we have on the Konark - Puri stretch, then forget it its not that close....

This is how close it is....

What you see in the end where the trees end is the place where the sea begins.
PS: This pic is from a long long time ago!
And once you are past Mahaballipuram the sea is not visible for the most part of the time.

PS: I might just join you if my goa plan goes down the drain

When coming on the NH4 from Bangalore to Chennai. You will find diversion towards Kanchipuram on the right somewhere at around 290 kms away from Bangalore. The diversion will we visible very cleary and are marked with enough sign boards. After reaching Kanchipuram proceed to Chengalpettu from there. This road goes via Walajabad. Upon reaching Chengalpet proceed to Mamallapuram . From Mamallapuram its the East Coast Road for you all the way till Pondy.

I have given you the route to avoid Chennai. So which mean you will miss the initial stretch of about 50 kms of ECR which runs from Chennai to Mamallapuram. Listen to this guy Soumen, you don't want to enter Chennai at 11.30-1PM in April. Trust me on this!

If you plan on entering Chennai then do it on or before 8AM. Else get ready to sweat off some excess weight!

I told you this route so that you dont have the problem of navigating through chennai traffic on a hot day

The route aargee has mentioned should be fine if you want to ride on the ECR for a little more distance. Trust me the initial stretch of the ECR will have traffic and the scenic route starts only after the place where old mahaballipuram(OMR) joins the ECR.

I would still suggest you to take the route aargee has mentioned

And regarding BRzzz , yes I got to know you through Nitin Bhai and Gita bhabi And I have seen your posts on the BRzzz forum when there is a debate on the RTR
