The Plan:
I had this picked up in my mind when the day John called me before he started to Chennai, "We got to show him the better Chennai this time not the usual ECR highway". What's the better time to roam around in Chennai, it should be a "Midnight" yeah I am a big fanboy of nightrides it all started in highschool days and that's when I fell in the love of riding.
Few days later I got to know about the other ride plan to "Thada". I thought lets make the night ride on Friday night and join the Thada ride on sunday morn, but friday night doesn't seem to set out and I got a little pullouts and also the Hero of the ride "John" seems to be a little reluctant to be off his responsibility for that night. This time john did not come to chennai for a business trip or pleasure trip. It was a mere responsible trip, he came here to get his cousin bro's ear drum operated and he needs to take care of him.
I texted few Xbhp friends whose contact I had on my phone to come near where John stayed. Manoj,Tharun & Dinesh noded a "yes" for the night ride. I did not post it on the thread cos riding with a big group in mid of the night around city could bring huge cop attention. The plan was to cover the old Chennai in john's cam. I thought covering a few government buildings like rippon,central railway station, harbour, Nappier bridge & Marina beach.
The Ride:
We planned to start the ride around 11.30 in the night as John wished. I reached john's place around that time and buzzed him to come down. Soon zoomed a Sexy superbike with Red & Black combo it was a Hyosung 650R.
"The plan was a big flop" when we saw the GT650R; all our attention was on the Sexy Beasty Killer sports machine. The proud owner of the SBK was Mr.Manoj(Men_in_Jean) best buddy of mine. I had been part of his 7 years dream of owning a 600CC sports bike. Listening to his dream every weekend talking about a CBR 600, nevertheless GT650R meets all his praises.
John was all looking at the SBK for some time and he would have told the words "awesome and sexy" (his usual praisers) atleast 20 times in a minute, now all his subject was to cover the 650R. We called up Dinesh & Tharun and there seems to be a little delay, so asked them to come to Nappier's Bridge. In the meantime we took a couple of shots before Rippon building (Corporation house of chennai) and moved straight on to the NB.
We spent sometime taking pics of the GT650R on the bridge, John exhibited all his kamasutras
kneeling..lying down to get a good composition. There were some road rashers, visitors flying on the bridge at that time of night. Many stopped for the usual inquiry and Dinesh was our PRO for them.
Some confirmed the GT to be a "Hayabusa" themselves and it seemed they were not interested in "Busas" and the left the place neglecting the GT650R 
. By the time Dinesh came up with a strategy to deal the cops "We are taking photo-shoot of the new GT650R launch in India for our magazine", It worked well and the cops too started the usual inquiry about the machine (They ask it with their demanding tone, doesn't they 
).
Actually I had a plan for Midnight buffet, but all these bugger had already filled their tummies and I was the only hungry dog there.. We headed to Buhari hotel and got some Mutton Briyani parcel and headed to Elliots beach, the usual meetup/hangout spot for Chennai Xbhp.
Patrolling cops came to us and told us that the beach got closed by 11 PM and we got to move soon having the dinner. We planned to close for the night and head back as John had left with limited time for us.
On return the John got to experience the pillion ride of the GT650R. The GT zoomed from my eyesight and I took the same route as we planned for the return and to my surprise saw Mr.John riding the 650R; I gave him a smoke on my 220 (all that I can do to a newbie on a SBK) and passed a signal. Then johnny came on the 650R stopped next to me. This bugger didn't realize that he had reached back; he looked around, surprised and said "Oh we reached"
Overall nothing happened as per plan except the ride and the fun. John has promised to come again to chennai for a full night ride. Didn't you John
