With a run in speed limit of 100 Kmph you are trying to ride slow ,in a disciplined way ?.Originally posted by Sunnyside_up! View PostI only rode for about 20km that too in rain - but throttle response is immediate and the bike is FAST! It's going to take all my discipline to ensure I follow the run-in guidelines.

Hahaha!
Believe me the acceleration is so quick before you know it, you've crossed the 100kmph mark! The pull on your forearms from hanging on for dear life is exhilarating!
I have to keep telling myself that I'm an old fart playing at being a teenager to keep myself in check.
@ Brat - did you get your bike yet?
@ Everyone - Thanks for all the wishes guys!

The initial acceleration of the GT650R was very much in control, however the 80 to 140kmph jus happened in a blink of my eyelids. Now its time to feel it in the N650ROriginally posted by Sunnyside_up! View PostHahaha!

Indeed, my GT was delivered the same day as you had picked up your Green piece of art. Got the regn number today and no more being a COP magnetOriginally posted by Sunnyside_up! View PostHahaha!

had a funny exp when getting back home after taking delivery.
I could relate to you when you mention the "hanging for dear life" part. I could not resist the the temptation of the oogles of low end torque even in 4th gear and opened it to a modest 9k rpm after i crossed 100km on the ODO. The way it pounced from 100k to "god knows what" due to whiplash scared me Sh**less. Can't wait for the run-in to complete.
It is not going to be easy to tame this one. Adrenalin on tap and loving every moment of it.______________________________________

Sunil bhai...
Abhi tak aapne jo bhi kiya hain woh to, jo Tamil me bolte hain "Jujube", utna bhi nahin hain
Chalo gaadi ko red-line karo aur aap samjeega ki main kyun 650R ke baare me itna naatak kar raha hoon!
Wait till you see the acceleration from 6000rpm up and you shit your pants as you cross 160 in about 10.5 seconds from standstill never dropping below 8000 rpm when you shift. I swear you'll need clean underpants afterward
Brat - congratulations on your GT650R. There is a beast of an engine in that machine and you need to keep your wits about you when you ride. Get a nice aftermarket exhaust (yoshimura) to let the beast sing some nice tunes. Keep in mind that your machine is unlikely to let you down before your riding ability does so take it slow, get some practice, ride around the track to get familiar with the handling and stay within those limits.
My first big bike was an SV-650 naked and although, in the US with the wide roads and open landscape, it got boring and I upgraded to a Busa, in India you can soil yourself even on a Karizma so treat her with respect

Sunny feeling young is a state of mind....these days i too feel 80 to 90 to be a slow speed on my Karishma, and i touch those speeds everyday in city...just short bursts ......it is the magic potion to keep me feeling rejuvenated.Originally posted by Sunnyside_up! View PostHahaha!

Couldn't actually work for long in the office. The bike doesn't seem so hesitant like I thought it would be. I keep it between the 4k-5k range most of the time. Good enough for the ECR. Occasional bursts to higher speeds felt pretty good. Feeling fast at the moment, so staying safe and observing a lot. Fought heavy rains when I got back. Bike's overheating nature for that new engine is fun. It was like something was frying right under the engine. Remember how a parota master's dosa 'kall' hisses with smoke when he sprays some water? It was exactly like that every time I had to cross puddles of water. People around wondered if something was actually wrong with the bike. Overall, pretty excited with the bike and finding it hard to get off and stay put.

Thank you. It is certainly a beast of an engine, I look forward to add slip-on's after hitting some decent numbers on the ODO. I am taking it slow and getting used to the power, tyre grip, lean-in, etc, but there's still a lot more to go. Much appreciate your thoughts!Originally posted by gsferrari View PostSunil bhai...

Congrats Sunny and Bharath.
And sunny, hoping that this ends the misfortune you are having with "imported" stuff
PSR sir, couple of weeks ago you had mentioned that you were hitting speeds like 80k occasionally, now it is 80k - 90k daily, i am sure the day is not far when the ZMA is run flat out.Originally posted by psr View PostSunny feeling young is a state of mind....these days i too feel 80 to 90 to be a slow speed on my Karishma, and i touch those speeds everyday in city...just short bursts ......it is the magic potion to keep me feeling rejuvenated.

After all seeing these happy faces, I am very much tempted to book a N650R/ST7. Darn my visa stuffs are holding me now
, it's really hard to control this feel of getting SuperBiked. A short sprint maxing out my 220 on the chennai-tambaram bypass road helps for a temporary relief off this stress.
Posting this here to know if there are any potential buyers for a used super-bike in next 6-9 months down the line._________________________________________________
