I've been using the Zapper C on my RTR since 6 months and have covered nearly 15k kms on street roads. Ridden it hard in rain as well. Its better than the stock and a lot of other rubbers. Track, its really good. Going by your logic, the R15 tyres should not even grip the street roads. the rear tyre hardly has any texture at all. Remember, all these tyres are first tested on the track before anywhere else. Aqua planing of the tyres is based on the thread pattern. I'm just talking about my experience with the Zapper C. I'm not holding you at gun point to buy one . Its left to you to go for it or not. Dont hold me on this. Also FYI we are talking about street tyres which run on regular tarmac. For off roading you look at other options. |

Joel, needed clarity.
Are you are saying that the R15 tyre is the best option even though its 'only' 80/90 as opposed to the 90/90 stock size (i'm not comparing to the tvs tyre, just the recommended size) and for the rear the 3.00x18 zapper c is a better option than a 100/90-18 which is closer to the stock 100/80-18 size? why not use a 100/90-18 zapper a/b/c/x/y/z or the dunlop geocruiser ? i have used the dunlop on my rd and it was awesome ... very confidence inspiring. the stock tyre on my fi is very scary, doesnt let me lean half as much as i normally would. the front seemed ok when new, now it seems to be overwhelmed by the disc. Please don't take it personally. I didn't mean any offense to you. You have been using it and knows way more than me. I am not an expert and just wanted to know more as I had read about tyres at Bike India Guide To Tyres . An excerpt: Slick Tyres: Slick tyres have no tread pattern and are mainly meant for track use. Speed is the main focus when it comes to racing and racing slicks can facilitate cornering at high speeds with a great lean angle. A treadless tyre is made to stick your bike to the road with maximum surface gripping the asphalt. However, they are meant for use on extremely even surfaces and in dry conditions only. A slick on a wet surface will quickly and unexpectedly slide without any means of controlling it. Last edited by chauhan_saurabh; 12-19-2008 at 02:29 AM. |
