  • 10000 Kms Ride Report RTR Refresh

Had bought it on 21/4/2008. 8 and 1/2 months.
Bike is Running good. Performance is definitely better than the rest of the 150cc lot.

Good things: Performance, Fuel Efficiency(45 kmpl), Looks.

Bad Things: Niggling problems (Sound from Timing chain and nuts and bolts getting loose every now and then), nothing more.

Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.

    • got my grey RTR FI today morning...
it doesnt have rear view mirrors!! no tool kit!! they said i should come back on Saturday to get it...
SC guys say that i need to have atleast 3L of petrol in the tank always. its even written in the manual!! (they have not mentioned the exact quantity)
anyways, i knew that before i went to buy it, so cant complaint now..
      so my doubts are,
does anyone really face any issues when the petrol level falls below 3L?
where is the on-off-reserve knob? does it have?

          • I got this interesting image in Web. This is a RTR160 engine CK. If you planning to carry some modification to engine might be helpful.

Can anybody tell me whats the alternator wattage of RTR and RTR Fi. Should be available in the owners manual...Has any body tried Xenon in Apache First Gen.
The RTR FI's manual says it has a 105W generator.

congrats on your new bike dude!

make sure you follow up on your mirrors and tool kit. You should also get 2 keys and the manual as mentioned in the manual. duh ... sometimes they conveniently 'forget'. My toolkit didn't have the shock absorber adjuster which i had to collect later.

There is no reserve knob in the FI. good riddance i say. if the fuel level drops below a certain level, the fuel pump may pump a bit of air. this is rectified by priming the pump to get all the air out of the line and flush it with fuel. this is standard procedure with any submersible pump. not sure how much air the FI's fuel pump can handle. I will check with my cousin who's a (water) pump tech what could happen exactly.

                  • ^^I think ur bike is never going to age. When u sell it after 4 - 5 years, the odo is still going to show just 5000 - 10000 kms or whatever(depending on ur replacement interval)

                    • Alright I think I am getting my first serious niggling issue with bike.

I get this thud sound every time the bike goes over a big pothole or a big speed breaker (no such sound on small ones)

The sound is I am sure from the T-cone or whatever its called.

I got it tightened during the second service & it went away, now its barely 500 kms since the 2nd service & I see this problem re-surface.

                      Any pointers?

As of now I ride through mostly concrete roads & hardly any bad patches so its mostly the bad speed breakers where I hear this.

I had a similar issue with the RTR I had, since the day I got it. I got it fixed by Sirish. It never came back again in the rest ~5,000km of usage.

                              • Guys, I need some clarification based on a hypothetical situation.

say there are 2 dealers in a town, dealer A & dealer B. New bikes always come with 2-3 free service coupons.

                                1) If I purchase my bike from dealer A, is it that only they can do the free services ?

                                2) Can I also use dealer B's service center to get my free services done ?
