the R15 is probably the best bike in the market today. And it is well worth the 1+ lakh you put into it taking into account all the goodies you get with it.

why didn't i buy it then ? even though i think it's worth a lakh i didn't wanna spend more than 80k on a single. plus fuel efficiency was a major factor for me. not to mention it being a scratch/jealousy/abuse magnet ... i don't have a very secure place to park.

funny thing is, even today i think i would still buy an rtr over the r15 or the fz. and i AM a yamaha fanboy of sorts (RD nostalgia). but i think maybe the carb over the FI. i haven't tested the latest carb rtr though, so i can't really say.

BTW Thanks Joel for that tip.

I had an issue with my stock tyre, it kinda had a liking to get punctures (3 in last week)

The TVS SVC here was more than happy to investigate whether it was a tyre issue or a rim issue.... found out to be the tyre issue!

The TVS fella, plonked in a TVS Jumbo Poly X! I got rid of em after a series of msgs to a friend!......
The MRF Zapper C - 3.00 *18 are tough to find back here! but finally got them, and they are pretty neat, they do look small in size.

Time for task 2, changing the front tyres....

Any idea on the R15s front tyre model name? Also isnt this a tubeless tyre, so should I go for tubeless front and tubed rear ones or do I hack it to be tubed?

      • Finally bought a RTR FI orange color..today...errr yesterday...good way to start off a new year

my other bike is a discover 125cc...and the gear pattern is quite opposite...was frequently getting confused with the gears..

other thing i noticed is the gear change... disco used to give me loud Tik Tik noise to confim a gear change..FI is too smooth..

have just riden it briefly so far..yet to discover its other features
Now need a good helmet to go with this bike..for about 2k

i am wondering whether to get a grip cover...my palms were getting
        sweaty while riding it..

btw... loved the sound the bike gives..

          • My RTR Refresh is not getting quite.
First there is sound from engine which the showroom people are not able to rectify, i went to my old roadside mechanic he said its the timing chain, it should not make sound as it has self Adjuster mechanism.
Second the bike had started to vibrate so much that wihtout my input it would change direction, it was loose foundation which again was done by roadside mechanic, most of its vibes are gone.
Somebody help me about the tickling sound of the timing chain.

talking about thin, even the stock front 90/90 looks bigger in proportion to the 100/80 rear tyre.

after some research i guess the 3.00" zapper at the rear should be adequate as recommended by Joel; the old fiero used to have a 3.00" rear and it was fine for the size of the bike. ditto for the rtr. the original front 90/90 which is a little over 3.50" if downsized to the r15s 80/90 (little over 3.00") should provide better performance while maintaining optimum traction levels due to the superior compound.

tube size should be 3.00"-17" i guess. but why not try it in tubeless first if you feel it's worth spending on a tubeless valve. rs. 150? if it doesn't work you can put a tube in later.

or busy ripping to college .. :P
so i never had complaints about vibs .. but yeah .. i complain a lot
RTR is a small bike .. it would look awsome if its converted to single seat and has a little raised rear part

Will click some tomo and post em, will be doing resuming my daily ride to Vashi... the tyres are giving a good sturdy\sticky feel and the usual skid is a bit difficult to achieve now (i guess thats because of the compound)

They dont really feel 'very small' as compared to the stock ones,

The RTR was always a flickable bike, but now with these tyres setup its even more flickable, I guess its because of the slightly bigger front vs the smaller rear! The ghats should be fun tomo!

The tube should be a 3.00 - 17 but uggh! I would rather hack the rear tyre to a tubeless mod than changing this!

That was the loose foundation Bolt, which was so loose that whenever i would accelarate from 10 kmph slowly the bike vibrated like it wobbled, the mechanic tightened it almost three rounds. But after the nut is tight many vibration are gone and no direction changing now.

i wish that would solve my bike's vibration probs, but i took it to the service center 4-5 times and had the foundation bolts tightened. the problem just got worse. finally took it to a suzuki service center which used to be an old tvs center. the vibes are much less now but more than when i first bought it.

see if you can use some kinda rubber or silicon based mountings for the engine....in addition to whats there already. tightening will not help much.

Take it to the 'best' service center 2007, 2008 its @ Vasai, the moment you enter vasai right next to the bridge. Its called as Sajawat Motors, the head mech (Srikanth) and some of the mechs there are very good.
They have been consistently winning some awards or other from TVS.
