I wouldn't say that.. it depends on the riders.. i have toured extensively on rtr.. have done sikkim-bhutan.. 2600 kms.. rugged roads, steep roads, no roads, rocks, rivers, very high altitudes.. u feel a little tired though when compared to other bikes.. but anyday it feels good to be on that machine.. never had a single problem throught the whole trip..

have done 820kms in a day.. 100-120 cruising for more than 4hrs! i love ma rtr!

    exactly!
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

      >i feel quite a pressure on my palms after a 30-45 mins of ride.. is this generic?

Question: When does the bike go to neutral coz i have found at low speeds(6-10kmph) upshifting with a single tap from 1st to 2nd, the bike moves into Neutral..

and yeah.. the run in period is really painful
blip the throttle everytime when you downshift, this will solve ur prob...(do check the clutch cable play too)

      • Frankly speaking if you plan to tour extensively, RTR is not the right bike.

Pick any of the Honda(includes Hero Honda) bikes & you should be fine

Before people start pounding on me saying they have toured xxx kms, let me just say that you can even tour on a Baja Chetak, Luna, Kinetic etc etc but they arent the best bikes to do that

        • ^^wat u sayin is exactly right buddy. rtr is not the best to tour.. zma IMO is the best in that part. was jus tryin to tell julian that >250kms, it depends on the rider and its not impossible to tour on rtr
and dont worry, i am not the guy who pounds!

            kedar sir

I currently own a cbz-x , it has flaws and ZMA is not my forte. i do not want to wait for parts to arrive n such. and thing is HH tumkur has put me off big time and so has the HH of bangalore. I simply would stay away from HH

now RTR isnt a touring bike , yes i know. but also see what are my requirements . i just want a bike which wont give way if i gun it at 100+ for long stretches. I do not want to wait for weeks if my rectifier goes phutt or i need a gasket change.

riding position n all isnt a matter for me. and I would have bought a RTR if it had released when I had gotten the cbz-x.

my cbz-x is 34k kms done, its lived its life. but some problems which crept in couldnt be removed in time, and its affected the bike big time. I just will part with it now.

R15, seeing the kind of after sales service issues, i do not want to run here n there if a prob arises. I cant give it that much time. I just randomly ask guys who own a RTR and they are happy with it !

RTR Fi or even the Carb is way better than other 150cc's i believe.

i hope i have made my points clear.

            Cheers

Honestly speaking, I am not a tourer. More of a city biker. But if you are interested in touring, you would better go for the carb version of the RTR. I agree FI would give better mileage, better performance (+.5 bhp over carb) and would better the carb in many aspects. But in a long journey, if something happens to the bike, you might not get it repaired at the local mechanic. But for the carb version, atleast you can have some temporary arrangement..... Just my two cents... Hope you have thought somthing about this....

              • Hi Sudeep,

Since HH has such a bad service in your area & you are not bothered with seating posture etc. You can safely go for the RTR, its a brilliant bike, just that its more track oriented than highway

You can munch miles on RTR too with out issues.

For the reasons mentioned by hellraiser I too would recommend carb RTR(one of the reasons why I bought the carb one)

                I hope this helps

a brilliant point made. I really wouldnt mind at all owning a carb version. It just should hold its ground at 110 kmph :P non-stop

                  Final question
can this bike last 30k+ kms ? (with appropriate spare parts change obv)
my monthly reading on the odo is around 4k , what i mean is, the bike really shouldn't lose its steam even with proper maintainance. I know a bike will eventually age but considering my cbz-x its too early at just 34k kms.
                  also
can anyone confirm that the RTR refresh now has an option of rear disc brakes or not ? I certainly wouldn't mind spend a few k's extra for a better thing.

p.s im riding to chennai tomorrow morning on the cbz-x, carrying a bottle of oil since the leak is certainly not less from the BDC of the bore
I havent heard of oil leaks from apache(s) but just curious. any of you guys use oils other than the ones recommended by the company ?

tried blipping the throttle.. works sometimes..but most of the time.. i am having to do the downshifting twice to get to 2nd ...nobody here faces this problem??

i feel its a major problem...

Thats weird man....Apache's are known for oil leaks but nothing major though.....even my RTR leaks from the tappet cover everynow and then.....but it never posed any problem till now.

My bike has done 22k till now....19k with the new engine....no loss in power....watever power loss is cover of bad servicing and setting. leave my bike...lets see wat other have to say!
