                  • Took delivery of the RTR Fi

                    Hey Guys,

Took delivery of an Orange RTR Fi on Tuesday evening. Brought it home from the workshop in peak hour city traffic and roamed around for another 30 or so kms in-town yesterday.

                    My observations:
                    1. The Bike is torquey. It pulls hard. I was struggling to keep the damn thing witin 4k - 6k rpm. The first 2 gears feel short.
                    2. Ended up reaching 10K rpm in 3rd gear on Wednesday. Did not go beyond that as the bike felt really tight.
                    3. Vibes are there, but not as intruding. I do not understand why its such an issue. The CBZ Extreme vibrates in the footpegs around the 6K rpm and the Pulsar has vibes in the handlebars et al. Heck, my old Pulsar used to vibrate much more than this bike. Unless ur used to a bike like the R15 which runs more or less like an electric motor, am sure the vibes are not as intruding.
                    4. The seating position is AWESOME. Just love it! Its sporty but not as radical as my R15 and its very comfortable too.
                    5. The stock handlebar grips are firm yet soft. Just too good.
                    6. The water exhaust hole of the silencer is annoyingly placed too close to the rider's footpeg. If I place the right foot down to balance the bike am welcomed with a treat of hot exhaust!
                    7. Even my mom was feeling very comfortable sitting single side pillion on this bike. She feels the seat a lot more comfortable than the R15.
                    8. The tappet noise is there, but I do not find it as intruding
                    9. The tires suck big time. The discs are good. I ended up almost putting the bike down when I backed out of my garage. I just feathered the front disc like I used to on my R15 and it happily locked up and skidded. Finally balanced it on my right knee and thigh and lifted it up. This was on concrete!
                    10. The headlight focus is too good. The lo-beam is actually as good as the hi-beam of my R15.(Should be really good with a HID) The hi-beam throw is tooo long that it ends up being useless. Need to reduce it a bit.
                    11. I checked the hi-speed from the showroom at it happily showed a value of 160. Am still trying to find the person who did this speed to understand the conditions he did it in.... Attaching the image here.
                    EDIT:
                    12. Just came to office on this bike. The bike feels at home doing ~35 kmph at 1.5K rpm in top gear. Whacked the throttle and it started pulling glitch-free.
                    13. Was doing 80 or so at 6K+ rpm. I felt that the bike would do better if it had an overdrive tall 6th like the R15!
                    14. The exhaust is just mind-blowing. Was just relishing the sound made by it. It feels more like a free-flow what with all the back-firing while down-shifting and stuff!!!

I have a doubt though. Actually I stalled the bike a couple of times while taking off from signals. But when I thumb the starter in gear, it refuses to start. I have to shift it to neutral to get it going. Is this true on all RTRs or all Fis?

P.S: All the above are MY OWN OBSERVATIONS. No debating invited!

During the run in period, is it good to rev the bike to so high rpm?
i am doing a run in at less thn 50kmph and maintaining rpm at 3-4.5k levels...

and my Fi starts at any gear..

                      njoy ur bike dude!!

So I had my first crash on the RTR last night.

Was coming late from office around 11:00 PM. There is this nice left turn close to my home. I was at around 60 or so & when I reached the turn I saw water spilled over the road. I realized that I was about to fall as the bike's rear had started slipping So I carefully decided to fall (as if I had an option ) i.e. when the front too lost it, I let it be & kept holding the bike till I started touching down on the ground & once I did I left the bike & I fell in a sitting posture on my left upper thigh.

The bike went away around 20-30 feet away, I could see the sparks flowing through all the metallic parts. I had a small roll but kept my head high. Stood up & found no scratches on me only an itchy bum :P

Looked at bike & thought here goes my baby for its first insurance claim :-D Went to the bike it was still running in full glory albeit in a false neutral mode. I switched it off

Some guys came & asked if I was fine & I replied in Yes. They helped me lift the bike.
After initial inspection things looked fine, I started the bike & continued my journey to home. Found the Clutch lever to be in different position, tryied pushing it to its earlier place & voila it did. The bike was as stable as before no extra signs, so decided to check properly once I reach home

On reaching home, I was surprised to see the damages, My worst fear was fairing & tank & scoops but nothing happened to them except for a black line on fairing that too on an edge(although a big one), the damages were

                        - Scraped left Side crash guard (not bent)
                        - Scraped Gear lever rubber
                        - Scraped Sari guard foot rest
                        - Brushed rear Left Indicator
                        - Brushed rear grab rail
                        - LHS indicator,
                        - LHS Weight bar
                        - LHS break lever round edge
                        - Out of the two brackets on the LHS foot peg one is broken so a precautionary measure I will replace the foot peg

Good that both u and the bike took a minimal beating Techno. Same question on the tires. And if ur asking me that question, it would be once I get my Jan salary!!!

                              • Sorry to hear bro, U scare me techo. I also do some type of leaning in my RTr with the stock tyre, but till date no mishap.

now seriously need to think about replacing the tyre. Should I go for the Dunlop Geo crusier 100-90 for rear?

Ride safe and be extra careful on the road. God save us.
