Tip of the Day

Who’s behind me?

Keep checking those mirrors for traffic and situation behind you. The RVM’s give a good field of view for vehicles following some distance behind. For those closer, you need to turn your head and use your peripheral vision.

    2. Front disc screeching noise still persists. SVC has changed both the front disc pads in warranty, but still the irritating noise persists.

    3. Varying idling RPM issue was also kinda resolved by the SVC. Now my RTR160's idling RPM is 1.1k when cold and 1.5k-1.6k when hot. Are these values OK? I've already bought the NGK Iridium spark plug from DSG. Will install it tomorrow. Will report back if I notice any changes in the engine/firing behavior.
    1. u can ignore those tappets noise...40 kmpl is fine, in old days i've got 40-42 kmpl with heavy ripping & shifting around 8-9k rpms...

    2. i suggest & recommend you to change you pads to ninja 250's brake pads..they have better material quality and blablabla, but more expensive..the stock RTR's pads are bad, it'll soon wear your disc (right now i'm using yamaha's single piston caliper, since one of the stock piston often stuck)....the sooner u change it with ninja's pads, the better..

    3. ehmm...can't say much for this..i've set my idle RPM for 1k rpms, and went to 1.1-1.2k rpms when hot....maybe it's because our country have a different temp and humidity

    what's the NGK iridium plug's code u've bought? CR7EIX? CR8EIX? CR9EIX? or maybe SIMR8A9 (CBR 250R laser iridium plug)?

What could be the reason? How do I fix this issue?

There is no loss in braking power. Braking power is awesome, but the noise is really annoying/irritating.
For how many kms did you use your old pads for?

I suggest you allow the new pads to wear in since you described no problem with the braking.

If the noise you say is a high pitched one then it is definitely because of new unworn pads (I'm assuming everything is fine with your brake fluid).

Since everyone is talking about Noise in brakes, my RTR has got the same problem, terribly irritating noise in both front and rear discs, plus theres noise even when i dont apply the brakes(just drag the bike in a silent place to check). my bike 1002kms old. i think brake pads must have settled by now. i have asked SVC twice, but it again re-occurs help please, should i shout at the SVC guys & try one last time?

I think you ride mostly in conjugated areas, not in traffic.... when you ride in empty space at low speed, and then if you apply brake then you can hear this noise which is very normal though i don't get it.... I think may be water has entered there....

I think it is due to brake binding. Remember the days when we used to ride bicycles if we tightened the brakes too much the brakes would keep touching the rim of the cycle? Similar problem here I think.

Regarding shouting at SVC I highly recommend it, those people won't work properly unless shouted upon.

Also has anyone tried the Mobil Extra 4T 10w40 semi-synthetic for their RTR?

yap, the stock RTR's front caliper got stuck (need to clean it regulary and it's quite irritating for me), so the pad ARE always touching the disc..maybe you want to check it out by put the bike on centre stand, and turn the wheel by hand..mine can turn smoothly almost like without any resistance

i change the front caliper with the single piston, and TADAAA!!! it never stuck anymore, and the bike runs so light...got better acceleration with this mod..

for noise from your pads, i suggest you to change the pads with the better quality one...for front you can use the kawak's ninja 250 pads..for rear, maybe you should check rear pads for unicorn dazzler, cbr150, r15, or pulsar (but i doubt about pulsar's pad due different caliper model)..

I own an Apache FI I bought it on 2009 last month the engines bearing broke so I changed it through the TVS service center now The Bike struggles to climb up in hills and also sometimes when I throttle hard the bike at 5th/4th gear when speed is lesser then 50 It feels like the bike is having trouble to exhaust and turns off automatically! no misfiring and I changed the Air filter too

I don't know wats the problem can ya please help?

Hey guys, i was looking for chain cleaning liquid, lubricant, and grease for my RTR160, i have read a lot about this stuff in RTR thread but m confused. Some please tell me the best tried and trusted brand and the place where i can get it from Delhi too, along with the prices if you please. (:
And maybe one or two points about washing the bike and then oiling/greasing/lubricating the chain and other necessary parts.
Except for bicycles, everything else: i learned to ride it in "Grand Theft Auto"!
