Closing speed...Watch it!

Keep your speed-check on when moving through slow or stationary traffic. Closing speeds can be grossly misleading and an erroneous assessment is recognized usually too late for corrective action.

I am sorry to post the picture of my bike’s sprocket and chain again but it is to convince that any kind of chain cleaning is absolutely unnecessary.
This 24,200 kms old chain and sprocket is never cleaned but is still healthy.
The petrol that we get here also contains droplets of water which gradually accumulates at the bottom of the tank since water is denser than petrol and sinks in it , and stays there fill after fill of petrol . This water drops accumulated at the bottom under the petrol also contains dissolved air in it , just like any other natural water . Water drops+air rusts at the tank bottom with time . This is why most of the rusting occurs at the tank bottom, not the sides . So keeping the tank full does not usually help . This is what I have found from draining the fuel tanks every couple of years on my bikes . Longevity of the tank depends on the material and manufacturing quality , i.e it's ability to withstand the inevitable presence of some water inside .

Very good condition of the chain+sprockets for the miles . You just keep applying fresh grease on top of the old one on it , no ? No oil even ? I may try this

I surely agree with what you said about the presence of water in fuel and the longevity of fuel tank.
But the bike I am using is older than his, i.e. 2009 model bought on 27/1/2010, used throughout the monsoons of 2010 and 2011 and is regularly washed at least once a week and is filling the same fuel available here. I mean, the possibility of water entering its tank is higher than his.
Yet there isn’t even a slight rusting on the bottom of it and, I think, it is because it is always full of petrol. There is nothing else to do to keep the tank rust free.
I shall post a picture of its bottom portion here in the afternoon today.
Same about the tank of my Suzuki Fiero which I bought in 2000. The tank and everything else on it except the tyres, tubes, brake pads, fork oil, mirrors, battery, chain set and clutch and brake levers are the stock ones even after 130K kms.
I am using Castrol Premium Formula Gel lithium based (NLGI 2.5) grease dissolved in their SAE 140 (now Axle 140) oil to lubricate the chain. Just applying the thick mixture on the inner side of the chain without cleaning it even with a piece of cloth or rag.

Fuel tank mouth of GS bought on 27/1/2010.
We are obliged to maintain anything we use – whether a vehicle or a shaving blade – properly to get the maximum out of it.

"If any of the free or paid service is not done as per schedule, the warranty tends to stand void"

Why the hell do I also have to do PAID services from the SVC ? I got a call from Suzuki & they too said "Pls. go to the SVC where you have done all your services and they shall replace the same. I'm forwarding your complaint to the concerned department & you will get a reply." Reply to what I don't know.
Royally ****ed. Not a single service done from them. Hope my friend's influence helps. Visiting in the evening. I wish I could someway forge it.

Doing all free as well as paid services from an authorized A.S.S. is compulsory if one wants to invoke warranty. Holds good for any brand of bike or car. If you take extended warranty, then you have to comply for the extended duration as well.

That is simple. By the time of 6 free and 9 paid services, the warranty period of two years or 30K kms is over.
The company is still ready to replace the tank without considering the warranty period if the services were done. Then how can the company be blamed here?

Your friend’s influence may be helpful only if the SC is ready to use another bike’s engine and chassis number for you. That is, ask for a tank replacement for another bike which fulfills the conditions of warranty and give that to you. Cannot expect such a great greatness from their side but try.

I too am extremely happy to hear it. Here you use the influence of your friend at the SC. If the tank you get is of the latest batch bike, it is Teflon coated and is rust free. It can be fitted directly and ask for it.

I recently got a my tank replaced as i was delivered with a rusted tank. since the bike which i got was assembled 8 months before it was delivered to me.

I noticed one thing the new tanks look different as u told. but as soon as i filled petrol some flakes of coating came off. and it is starting to get rusted again!!! and the paint quality is really bad when compared to stock one. i fear suzuki regalvanise the old tanks and deliver it for such purpose

Mine is 2009 model and is not familiar with the new tank and hence cannot say anything about the quality of the Teflon coating on it. Can you please post pictures of the mouth and bottom area of that tank?

What difference is it going to make even if he had done all the free and paid services from ASCs? I mean they are not going to do any maintenance inside the tank, that prevent it from rusting. Rust inside the tank is irrespective of the maintenance carried out on the vehicle.
So if you say the warranty of non maintenance items like petrol tank is void because you fail to carry out all the paid and free services is pointless.
