I have done 280kms so far. I have made it a point to ride below 4.5k rpm, never crossed 60km/hr mark. Feel the midrange power is ok and the bike could do a spirited run post 60km/hr speed. Ride comfort is good but not as expected when changing from a old 2stroke to plush 4stroke bike. Maybe my expectations were too high. Problems faced so far ...
1. Mileage - Not upto the mark! My bike returns a mileage of 45km/ltr ... It is quite less when compared to the mileage figures mentioned by many owners here. 2. Gear shifts - The gear shifts are so hard & loud that even my neighbour could hear me shift gears. I'm also having tough time finding the neutral in normal riding conditions. 3. Brakes - They are ok, they do the job when necessary but its not sharp as other bikes in the market. 4. Headlight - Just pathetic. 5. Hard hitting metal noise - Everytime when i upshift gears and accelrate i hear a loud metal noise and could also feel the thud from the bike. Not sure if its from the engine block or rear sprocket. Anybody facing such a thing. Never faced anything like this with my 2stroke. |

60-70kph in 6th gear is possible - as long as you drive within the 5000rpm limit which the manual prescribes. Of course I have not really ridden at that speed for long periods, considering that have mostly driven in city/outskirts. Also, not gone on a highway trip yet. Most probably I will wait for 1st service and then only take the bike on highway. The method you are following for mileage should give you accurate results. Simply put, Mileage = Kms driven between each reserve/ petrol filled. Siddhv, Have the below suggestions for you: 1. Ensure that you get to inspect the vehicle before buying it. There have been a few complaints of rust in the petrol tank by xbhp users. Ensure you check your vehicle thoroughly for rust/scratches etc. Go in the day-time to the dealer for this, and not in the evening when light is poor. Take TD also of your particular piece. Also, it would be a good idea to note down the engine/ chassis number once you have selected your bike, so that the dealer doesnt swap bike later. 2. If you have the cash, then I would suggest that you just pay up! 0% schemes usually have some fee applicable, like processing fees etc.. there will always be a cost. In addition, there will be hypothecation on the vehicle in favour of the bank, which will need to be removed on repayment of loan. So, weigh the pros and cons and your own needs, before you decide. Wish you good luck on your purchase buddy, and safe driving! Needless to say, keep us updated ![]() Regds Srini |

1. Do not expect good mileage till the bike has run for at least 1500kms. The insides of the engine needs breaking in, and the smoothness is only developed over a period of time. 2. Just like above point, the transmission also needs to break-in for smooth shifts. Understanding the engine revs for correct shifting is very important and is different for different bikes. 3. No comments on the brakes. Unicorn brakes are not much to shout about either. 4. Bad headlight on the unicorn as well. Cheers! Prajwal

I had posted this query longtime back and got no response whatsoever. Anybody tried pulsar's split grab rails on the GS ? Both are single nut mounts, guess it should be a straight fit. Anybody game for this ? |

A quick update on the rear brakes...
I met a service center mechanic personally yesterday regarding the rear brakes. He said the rear brake's spring has been designed with more tension so we are not getting the bite. He said suzuki's zeus has got better rear brakes. Suzuki has promised the dealers that it will replace the spring of the rear brakes soon... They will call us directly once the parts have arrived to the service center ... Cheer up guys![]() I even changed the focus of my headlight... Now its far better ![]() To all my fellow GS owners.... GS is my first bike... I am sure its the first bike for many of the guys here.. Its your bike man.. You have to love it... I can see many owners here who keep on complaining about the bike... Headlights - I heard even uni has got a bad headlight Hard Gear shifts - Man... This is a common in most of the bikes... Even the so called smooth commuter UNI too has got it Leave the case of 3.5k thing behind... Look at the other sides.. >> 6th cog >> Sexy tail lamps and console - I am loving it day by day ![]() >> gear indicator - I could see my friends envying me on this thing ![]() >> Perfect riding position and comfort >> Very good mileage - with mixed riding i get between 52-55 everytime ![]() What i feel is that... Since it is the first bike for many guys out here, they are mourning over even some simple issues... Its an usual thing in any bike... Just talk with any of your friend who owns any other 150cc bike... U will find that GS is far better...Ask your friends to ride your bike and get comments from them... I am damn sure that you will get a positive response... Even I too got it from friends... No human is perfect in this world then how come u expect a bike to be perfect in all sense ![]() I want you guys to keep this thread in a positive sense.. It should be a guide to any one visiting this thread to buy a GS... It should not be a spoiler... Love your bike... Love your ride... You will forget all these very minor issues... Lots of typing on a sunday morning ![]() Cheers, Navidh |
