Once i got this kind of figure around 70. In my opinion its always better to fill some 2 litres above reserve and calculate the mileage after it goes to reserve. But some above posts im not sure whether this work . I too had experienced some irregularities in this method. One thing im sure that we need not worry too much about mileage, as our GS will give good mileage if ridden properly .

Few days ago there was a big discussion as to which method is good to check the mileage of this bike. Same started again !!!!

I did an experiment last week. I chcekd the mileage between Blink to Blink. ( when the petrol drops less than 1.5 Liters, the last point starts blinking). My trip was for around 300 Kms on a highway. I got the below mileage

Between 80-110 KMPH 40 KMPL (couldnt cross 113 KMPH)
Between 70-80 KMPH 45 KMPL
Between 65-70 KMPH 51 KMPL

Any one else tested this?

I have a new problem. After riding the bike for 30+ KMs the gear shifting becomes very very hard. Especially if i am in 6th gear and if i have to cross a road hump i will not be able to bring the gear to 2nd or 3rd, i will have to move with 6th Gear only. What could be the reason? This happens once the engine gets hot. Anyone else has this problem?

GSR Benefit :

For Reserve Status , GSR has got manual reserve knob. You will come to know that the bike is in reserve fuel mode. Just change the knob from On position to Reserve position. 3.5 ltr of petrol stored for reserve.

Fuel indicator blinks when, the bike has got less than 1.5 ltr of petrol.

So there is double benefit for fuel indicator in GSR. First one is the normal 3.5 ltr reserve status and the other one is 1.5 ltr less indicator fuel blink status.

Friends, Help needed.
Yesterday night my bike came to reserve. so i thought that now there is 3 liter of petrol. After 30KM drive the fuel indicator started blinking, which suppose to blink when petrol is less then 1.5 liter. so im confused about the mileage now..

Yesterday i noted a squeaking noise from front brake and on examination i found that in the disc brake one particular section is smooth compared to rest of surface, so i inferred " its the point where the pad is touching the disc ". So today on my way from college i went to service centre. Everyone had gone for lunch at that time there was only chief engineer. I went to him and reported my problem. While walking towards the bike i was trying to explain that there is some big problem with my bike. He asked to put the bike in main stand and by rotating the front wheel he poured some water on to disc brake. Everything gone. No sound no squeaking.

I was totally embarassed seeing it was only a silly matter of dust getting accumulated between pads and disc. Even while washing i purposefully avoided disc getting wet fearing it might damage pad. Engineer then described that its designed to work best in both rainy and dry conditions always keep pads free from dust otherwise it will make these kind of sound. Well atleast i learned a new lesson.

No issues buddy... There has been scenarios where the indicator started to blink even before the bike went to reserve for me....... and I have seen this problem with some one else also in this forum[dont remember who it was]... There is some minor defect in the calibration of the fuel level indicator which I'm not sure of the reason... I'll have to examine the how the fuel level in measured in the tank then we can come to a conclusion...

Simple explanation is this... I presume the level is measured in the left side of the tank.... So try to lean towards the right side say for about 2 minutes... It'll start blinking again... then lean it towards the left side.. It'll stop blinking after 2 or three mins.... try this and let me know of your experiences... There were some of the ones which i observed in my bike...
