Lightbulb

@ Performator

I had given a query to Suzuki, hopefully they will respond soon. I have been waiting for your post. Buddy you can still note when the head light becomes steady. Just put bike in main stand and just try opening throttle as slow as possible and note when the intensity of the light stops to increase. In BA series after 2-2.5K rpm there is no appreciable change in intensity of light.

Today I did some some riding through some unknown roads and upper is doing its job well, its the dipper which is very poor. Upper seemed a little high but if i adjust it a little lower the dipper will be even poorer, isn't it?

How did you check the illuminance ? Original Philips bulb cost around 800/- rite? Actually even with the AA unit the lighting will be almost same, but the difference is in the lower rpm. Many have reported flickering of headlight when they put indicators with AA unit.

Thanks Adi, I remember asking the same question a month back, finally you gave answer. Thats a little earlier than BA unit, so its worth replacing. Hey Adi how do you compare the upper and dipper? Today i felt like upper is enough for me. But I always drive with dipper and hardly uses upper as it gives a feeling like I'm blocking the visibility of oncoming vehicle and quickly gives dipper. So its the dipper which is to be improved.

OT: So you have both Activa and Eterno?

Today I rode my bike after its third engine oil change since I bought it...and 14ookms done on bike.

The bike is a butter to ride now, amazingly sweet, blisteringly fast like a ZMA being a normal 150cc.The bike even accelerates till peak rpm even in sixth gear.

In one word............WOW !!!!!

I am sure about one thing though,my break-in actually has been very good.
Next thing........pls dont ask me mileage, petrol doesnt seem to end in my bike

I now only wish to buy a higher end Suzuki, maybe a GSX750R.I am too much in love with what this company offers !!!!

Congrats for choosing GS. The break-in procedures have been discussed to the end in the thread itself. It will tiresome to search all the posts for break-in precautions. Here is one post by me Suzuki GS150R

Guys, got a call from my S.C as I have registered a query for the replacement of RR unit. They have been asked to solve the lighting problem, by replacing bulb or RR unit. Now S.C dont have stock and will attend the problem as soon as the unit arrives. I registered a query yesterday evening and got call today afternoon, not bad .

Thats good.. You're getting RR unit changed from BA to CA series ??
Whats the battery capacity in your bike ? 7ah or 9ah ??

I had a feeling that CA series was introduced coz they reduced from 9ah to 7ah and the BA series was overkill for the smaller 7ah battey (so effectively CA could just be a cost cutting change too !!)
(its just one of many possible theories )

I wish even i could have written to suzuki to change BA to CA series,
Last time i wrote to them the owner of the showroom was pretty upset, he said i should have asked him instead coz when we send a mail they assume the SC isnt doing a good job.

Anyhow, if BA to CA gives you any improvements then update me, even i'll go and talk to the SC..

In my bike, with 9ah and BA rr unit, i feel the headlight has 60% brightness at idle(1300rpm) and by 1.8k it seems to be around 90-100% bright..
(i hardly use the headlight, i'm more concerned about battery charging ability of the RR unit )

@ Falcon

I have the same set up as yours, 9Ah battery and BA series RR unit. I dont think the RR unit was changed to incorporate the change of 7Ah battery. But do feel like its a cost cutting venture like the carburetor being changed to Padmini. The Battery change from 9Ah to 7Ah is just like, earlier you could store 9 litres and now its reduced to 7 litres (I guess so), but the charging rate will be different.

The RR unit converts the AC to DC by rectification and then regulates to provide a steady DC to charge the battery efficiently. Since all the ratings are remaining the same CA series RR unit can be coupled to 9Ah battery or BA series with 7Ah.

I agree to the stats provided by you, as my idling is set to 1100 the brightness seemed less than 50% and from 2K its 100%.

Madhu bhai is going to get his RR unit to CA as well, hopefully he posts some pics to show the difference(Now that I have said so, he will).

naa sold my eterno for 10k which was like 2003 model so very good resale value considering i knew it needed some engine work. To be true i never use the Upper since i feel as if it is pointing to the Gods

And I will change the stock bulbs since people here drive like crazy even if you stop and ask the guy to use dipper he will not. And go 1 step head and you might make the headlines of next days newspaper.
