Default RR unit upgraded to CA

It all began this Monday when I called SC about RR unit replacement under warranty (last service they had told me pls call in 15 days or so, we will place an order). They acknowledged it saying there is stock and they have received two RR units and one might be yours but they requested to get the bike in the morning to get it fixed, and any evening it is not possible as they have servicing commitments.

All the weekdays passed by and I was busy in office, but yesterday work got over by 4: 30 and I went straight to SC (Millers road) service bay and requested it changed. The service receptionist immediately recognized my request over phone done on Monday and asked me to wait. She got a service boy to whom I explained everything and he took me to the spares shop, there too the man recognized me “oh u had called about this”..i was doing cartwheels in my mind..and (I was wondering if the two units he had in stock might have got consumed by the weekend) he got the RR unit from the racks but last hurdle he requested a job card to be put..okay that is not difficult..the service guy did it and my bike got the new RR unit bolted on!..old one was taken by them (warranty sir, we need to take back old)..the price mentioned on the RR unit box was some 938 bucks!..i was like whoa!..it is true Suzuki really cares to its customers.

As I drove out into the night traffic, it was put to the real test right away. The brightness has definitely increased all through the rev range say like 20% in higher revs to 30% at lower revs no doubt abt that on the flipside I could feel the extra load on the engine when the headlight is on coz the alternator was more loaded (wee bit struggle to keep up in idling rpm)..where previously it would be noiseless at 1.3k rpm, now with headlight on it would do 1.2k..of course switch off the headlight and the load is off and engine is back to previous rpm. The overall electricals seem a bit juiced up, CDI unit seems more responding and revs climb faster, horn reaches full power in like 5 to 6 minutes of ride time (before it used to take a half hour minimum). Downside the idling vibes at handlebar and decelerating vibes near handle and foot pegs have increased (engine coping with the new load, hope this resolves when the engine get settled to the new change in alternator loading).

Overall good experience with new RR, though it definitely saps a bit more power from the engine compared to previous when headlight is on.

Guys my bike revs all the way till just before 11k rpm mark on tacho. I remember reading somewhere that it is electronically limited to 10.5k rpm..so this extra 300 to 400rpm that it shows, does it mean that the eco mode light actually blinks at 4k (actually) rather than 4.5k?..any one with access to pulse tacho pls check and post the real rpm and rpm the console shows.. if true then it would be nice since I feel the engine can pull even in lower rpms and sixth gear needs to be more taller and this 4k rpm error means the actual rpm is 400-300 lesser than shows which is good.

Mileage is still 53 odd avg 50% city 50% ring road. I wonder what tuning the bike had during ARAI testing that it came up with 63 kmpl avg. Did all type of fuel screw settings from 3.5 to 3 to 2.5 to 1.5 turns(final after SC CO tuning)..the mileage just never seem to change, pls let me know ppl who get above 60 kmpl your driving habits and fuel screw turn settings, I accelerate slowly and use engine braking to slowdown avg speed is at 4.5 k rpm 6th gear i.e. 60 kph…

hi guys
this "gulf pride 4t +" is simply awesome ...the bikes behaviour is compeletly diff. than before ..gears are super slick and engine noise has also reduced compeleted some 6500 kms on odo...
this oil is worth for money even if lasts for good 2000 kms..
highly recommended...

Yes ,but 10,000km drain period is only for other bikes ,not for suzuki GS 150, I completed 2500km on, now slightly roughness started,But compared to castrol power1 , this oil is very good....

If any body has idea about the stalling problem will be gr8
Hi adi , did u notice what is done while he adjust tappet?, bcos monday i am going to adjust it,So they remove tank to adjust tappet?????????
Take ur bike again to show the sound is coming. back....
Me too suffering with some kind of noise , posted several times about to suzuki, and talk directly to suzuki factory......
I gave this site address long back to them, So silently watching this(may be)...
The frustrated thing is even i ready to pay for solving all problem ... there is nobody listening like dump
Even me have stalling problem in starting, when ever my engine cools this problem started,But i adjust rpm to 1500 in hot,I get screwdrive stuck in engine like sound before stalling..(which already discussed in thread long back)
Even i ready to pay for CA series,My SC pondy concentrate on Bike sales(which margin is more than CA series RR)

Consider the possibility that SC guys might have dropped the bike, this had happened to me once on my pulsar, they just keep silent about such things and see if the customer realizes...go back to them and raise the issue "post service handle has a problem"

Arrow Quick update

13.3K on the odo... going for the 9th free service tomorrow. Bought Motul 3000 4t Plus 20W40 today at gopalapuram, chennai.. Costs around 220. Got 10 Rs. discount .... That place is called "International tyre service".. Deals with Motul also. Has got Iridium spark plugs in the show case..... Did not ask about it though....

Motul 300v FL costs around 895 Rs. And the person there told It'l be good till 7000 Kms.. So think would be a better deal. Would like to check out FL in the near future.

it is a little frustrating because i shit to 2nd gear at 10kmph(based on the engine feel) and when im in signal or traffic i have to keep changing between 1st n 2nd gear.
