Now here we are going to enjoy two differently narrated stories of the same ride.
One narrated by Inder and One by Vishwas.
And don't tell me Aman and Inder's friend are also penning their own account of story

    Cheers

If the naratives are anything to go by, then rest assured you will hear different stories.

Satyen, why are you always after paaji. You also forgot about different uses of carry bags, finding tempo in tangste and Leh etc.

    Default Pre Ride Preparation

    Pre Ride Preparation

    1. Bike
Ever since I bought a Ninja, I wanted to take it for Ladakh ride. MG, Praful and several other guys strictly advised me against doing so. So my hunt for a bike started. The most serious challenge was that whichever bike I borrowed for the ride, I would need to give my Ninja to that guy for the duration. Several candidates propped up in my mind but finally my childhood friend won the contest hands down because I knew that he would be too scared to take my bike out on the road. Since he had a FZ, I finalized on taking a FZ to Leh.

    2. Off Roading Experience
As I have mentioned earlier, I absolutely do not have any kind of touring experience on any kind of bike. So I requested MG to accompany me for an off-road ride just to have an idea about the kind of biking expected during the ride. MG, Surojit, Rishabh and Jakrap accompanied on the ride from Amby – Tamhini. Special attention should be given to Jakrap because he became the first Off-Roading Ninja in India on that day. Rishabh, as usual, did not shoot even a single photograph of Jakrap doing off roading.

    3. Endurance
After our off-road ride, MG voiced a question about my endurance in riding. Me being 41 and not very physically fit, agreed whole heartedly to this question. Hence once a Mumbai-Pune G2G was organized at Amby Valley, Me, Hyperion & Jakrap went from Pune to Shirwal to Lonavala (total distance 180 km). This whole ride was done by me without taking a single break. When I didn’t suffer too much, I thought I would be ok on the ride.

    4. Luggage
I had thought of calling kashif for borrowing his saddlebags and tank bag. When I mentioned this to some senior paaji member of Pune xBhp, he said …. ‘Aare sun na…mai oosiko phone karane walaa tha… acha ho gaya, tune yaad dilaya’. I did not have kashif’s number at that time and this senior bugger called up kashif in front of me and booked his luggage for Leh ride.

Then I decided to keep quite about my plans and not to leak anything to paaji. In the mean time niks_devil asked me whether I wanted to borrow his saddle and tank bags. I jumped on the offer and took delivery of the luggage immediately. Niks must have thought I had gone mad to collect bags so early but I was afraid that paaji will claim this luggage also. The Rohit asked me whether I would like to borrow his sack + bungee cord and Ankit asked me whether I would like to borrow his gloves. I picked up all this material well in advance and then only informed the group about my progress.

    5. Clothes
Rohit informed me that I can buy cheap army winter clothing in Pune. Since I did not know the location, I caught hold of him and bought a whole lot of material. 2 woolen shirts, 2 cargo pants, 1 thermal, 1 gloves and 1 pair of army shoes – all for a princely sum of 1400/-

    6. Maps, Geographical Info etc.
Bugged Praful several times and got detailed info about the terrain to expect, detailed maps etc. Through out the ride, I was carrying Ramky’s maps and found them to be mostly correct and more than sufficient for our needs. I have said I was carrying because other members of our group, being senior, experienced riders, did not bring them.

Ah ha! I know most of this
Waiting for the unknown bits... !

and PS: You were the most 'prepared' riders of them all for this!
Yours was like a planned execution, and the mumbai guys were executing things and planning later... like you said last time... its not about who was right or who was wrong, but fact remains that both the troops did it in thier style and in thier best interest!
