Honda Motorcycles will stop selling its middle-weight super sport Honda CBR600RR in the European market from 1st January 2017 because the current bike will not comply with Euro4 emission norms which will came into effect from January onwards.
The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer will continue selling the CBR600RR in other markets that have not yet adopted Euro4 emission standards. But sooner or later they will adopt the Euro4 standards which will eventually put an end to this iconic motorcycle.
The profit margin for supersport 600 cc class is very less for the manufacturers, as the development cost for 600cc is almost the same as that of 1000cc bike. Customers demands same latest electronics but refuses to pay more. Hence the manufacturers are not keen on developing a full-fledged successor to the CBR600RR.
Let’s just wait and see what route other manufacturers take for their Supersport models.
