Great review and this would surely help people choose the right bike among these two.For me I believe CBR250R is more practical considering the conditions.

i didn;t notice any speed review .. all i read was handling/riding/comfort in this review .. did i miss any speed related points

surely its an upgrade from the P220/ZMA/R15 .. i don;t believe ppl saying its not upgrade from P/Z/R bikes .. there is big difference between 150 and 220 and 250
Dude the CBR250R was in Run in period. The speed and RPM limitation come in.

      Good Review!

Lovely reviews there, and very well in time. Quicker than most of us would have thought it would be out.

To-the-point review! Really looking forward to the detailed road-test review once the CBR250R can be revved freely post run-in.

Nice review by OldFox Sir, & a nice comprehensive one by Sunny & Akhil.
& some nice posing by our very own Sunilg.

@rossiter: Are showrooms offering test rides to all, or to those who booked it, or you got it through some contacts?

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

        Great review and pics
The comparison holds valid since both bikes are in same displacement category, but if we consider price also, both are lone in their price segments so there will be no comparison... But we love comparisons (its obvious as we are discussing this comparison since last 10 pages and shall be discussing in next 100+ pages) and we also live in India so we don't have half a dozen bikes this category with similar characteristics to do an apple to apple comparison. So by this comparison we can satisfy ourselves with the Red Apple to Green Apple comparison (wow it suites so much with the typical colour of these bikes).
Also in international market they are in same price bracket so good to compare...
CBR Vs R15, not fair (different power and price segment) but still awaited ...

Best will be to compare it with R25 (if it arrives)...

Regarding choice\upgrade over R15, ZMA\ZMR, and P220 If we consider Price difference/Power difference:
It's an obvious choice\upgrade over ZMR
Good choice\upgrade over R15 (as R15 handling is equally good if not better)
Tough choice\upgrade over P220 (as it's as good VFM as CBR, its price is half while power is just lil less. Looks, Handling and Quality are compensated with half price)

The point is , there is no final call. Both bikes are extremely different and need to be enjoyed for their own unique purpose -

High revving excitement of the ninja parallel twin
Smooth torque distribution and easy touring on the cbr ( not that ninja aint a good tourer but still )

put the ninja and the baby ceeber in a straight line drag , and its pretty obvious that the ninja will pull away. But things are really different in an everyday riding scenario .. no one is going to miss the extra 7 horses while overtaking an autorickshaw in the city or overtaking a cage on the highway ( with the 21 horses of the 220 , i find it effortless to maintain and overtake at high speeds on the highway, so both the ceeber owner and the ninja owner are going to be happier than me ). So 26 horsepower on a bike that can really use it properly is powerful enough. That said , the ninja is not the best 250 in the world for nothing - kawasaki has extracted a lot from just a 250cc mill ! Hats off to that 2 cylinder screamer !

And Since no review is complete without pitting a bike against its nearest competitor , this review has been made. And it clearly is not a comparo of performance .. Its just the positives and negatives about each bike. At the end of the day , a cbr owner and a ninja owner are going to be equally happy on their respectve rides -
the ninja guy having the sheer advantage of two cylinders a high redline and the honda guy having the refinement and power ( obviously lessr than the ninja but more than the other indian bikes ) of the single cylinder but at half the price !

Both bikes rock in their own ways !!
          Peace
          thanx bro..

i like playing the one in the neutral. i am joyful about the CBR as well. and as it is said, they belong to two different class all together.

          have fun guys...

While the images are top quality as usual, I find a certain part of the review by Sundeep to be fan boyish. I'm talking about this "but the superior performing and revving Ninja will leave the 250 visible only in the rear view mirror at best."

How can a motorcycle(CB250R) which hasn't yet been run-in and thus not being pushed to it's true performance potential be compared to another(Ninja 250R) which comes with performance enhancements like the two brothers slip on which should deliver a couple of ponies more at the top end?

Even otherwise, pronouncing a verdict on a motorcycle's performance against another motorcycle, without fully exploiting it's performance potential isn't what I'd call an objective review. Hereby, I think a few lines of the review need modification.

              Cheers,

              Jay

@Sunil, rossiter, OF sir, Sunny- Helmets off to you for the fastest ride report as this report is on top search in all search engines.

I would like to know hows CBR is in handling and braking department as compared to R15 because before CBR was launched R15 was the best bike after ninja so does it still retains the second place or fallen down.

As the post also mentioned R15 i would also like to know what are the 0-100 timings of CBR as compared to the other two bikes.

Lastly, as they say the stock R15 lacks low end torque and the real game starts after 6000 rpm mark what about the CBR on what RPM the actual fun begins.

The arrival of the CBR is a very welcome change in the India motorcycling scenario. When I was riding around on the Rajdoot and the Yezdi, a bike like the Karizma was a dream, what of something like the CBR and Ninja being available here. So lets revel in the newness and excitement that the arena of this amazing sport is seeing in our country and celebrate the goodies you can lay your hands on now and in the days to come.

                        • Final Verdict:

The CBR250R and the Baby Ninja cannot be compared on similar basis! They r entirely 2 different types of bike! Its like comparing an R15 to a FZ16,both are 150cc,but both are miles apart!

                          Target Customers:

                          Cbr250R:
                          • Those on a low budget but want a stand out bike

                          • Those that are planning to upgrade from a Zma,R15 or a P220

                          Ninja 250R:
                          • Those race track junkies
                          • Those who want pure performance and a Racetrack feel!
                          • Those tourers who like to travel long and on different terrains!
                          • Those who have a some extra cash to spend for the extra power!

                          Bottomline:

                          • The CBR is brilliant in the city. The Ninja is a scorcher on the tracks!
                          • Those who prefer performance wouldn't mind the analog instrument cluster of the Kwacker!
                          • The CBR is an economic and complete package!Especially with its pricing! The Ninja is a Performance Package. The extra cash gives you much more than some extra power!
                          • No matter which bike you buy, whether the torque filled CBR or the High Performance Ninja, DO NOT ATTEMPT A DRAG RACE ON THE STREETS!TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL TRACK!

This is just an observation,no offense meant to anyone!Am not trying to say that one is better than the other. Both are clear winners in their own class.Peace!

                          BE SMART,RIDE SAFE!CHEERS!

                          • Its simple like that -

People who got money and want a great bike or the BEST 250 CC bike of World will go for the Ninja 250cc.

And the rest will go for CBR250R. You are gonna see several CBR's soon on Indian roads. It will be sold like a hot cake as most percentage of people can't spend 3L on a Bike.

LOL, seems you rate everything in terms of money? What would the R1 owners think of those having Ninja 250 r?? That, the Ninja owners didnt have money to go for higher cc? LOL.

Persons like you would never mind spending dimes on something which you are not good at, you can well pay for the features which you can never take advantage of.

Good judgment comes from brain not with money-power. Hope you realize this simple funda sooner or later.
