Tried replying earlier, but somehow the post did not make it through. Here's my piece of advice. I was confused as you, eager to get into the 600 class. Hyosung was readily available but not the N650r. But am glad i waited, the N650r is a class apart, the engine is quick, loads of power on the low & mid range and believe me, no matter what the others say, it is a way better bike in terms of performance and quality than the Hyosung. So, it all boils down to this, is your money precious, go in for the N650r. Its a Kawi bro, you are not making a mistake in anyone's opinion. Welcome to the 600s whenever you are ready!!

If you should choose to go the Ninja 650R route - do look us up on facebook "Kawasaki Ninja 650R India Owner's Group". It is for owners only and we've got around 65 members thoroughly enjoying their machines with many group buys for helmets, radiator guards, HID lights, Brake parts etc. going on.

Ninja 650R - I own one and I love it. It is a do-it-all bike and everyone needs something like this in the garage.

If anyone is comparing the Kawasaki to the Hyosung and thinks the Hyosung is better...please stop drinking/smoking/shooting-up whatever hallucinogen you are on. There is no comparison in terms of the quality of the product...absolutely no comparison. the Hyosung is a pile of junk on wheels with a sweet Zuki derived engine in between. the only thing worth having in that package is the v-twin engine, everything else can be tossed in the bin. The Kawasaki is the better bike.

Many many +1s to this. I have seen a few GTs up close and think that they are pathetic in front of the N650s. In this time and age, the GTs quality of workmanship is amazingly shoddy. Once the N 650 is in, the GTs will get an unceremonious burial.

I had read of an odd comparo the other day - between the N650 and the T Bonneville on ADV. Quite educative it was. I had earlier been a Bonneville fan but on reading this comparo, I am in two minds.

Has Bajaj lost it?

Ok..so a friend of mine called the Kanpur Probiking showroom to inquire about the N650.

The dealer quoted an ex-showroom price of Rs 5.8 lakhs and an OTR of Rs. 6.5 Lakhs

Thats a full 2 lakhs more than the Hyosung Gt650N

Is Bajaj seriously over-estimating the market-value of its brand? Or is the dealer overcharging for early booking? coz none of the other probiking outlets have any info on the bookings as of now?

Well I have had the GT650N for the past 6 months and have done about 5000kms. Done city rides, traffic jam rides, NICE road blasts, Coorg twisties etc.

So far I have only had fun. I have not had any spectacular failures. Only a couple of minor quibbles that were fixed instantly by the awesome service guys at Satya Mitra Motors.

The comparison with the Ninja650 is a very valid and fair one. I would suggest you to think of it in these terms:

1. Is the GT 650 N giving you enough over the Ninja 250R to be worth the 1.5lakhs extra
2. Is the N650 offering enough over the GT650N to be worth 2 lakhs extra

The downside to the GT650N is that given the perception of poor quality, it might be that 2-3 years down the line, I might have issues with parts failing etc. That is a risk you must consider while thinking about the extra 2 lakhs you pay for the Ninja 650. That 2 lakhs extra might very well be worth it for the peace of mind that a reliable brand affords you.



However please remember that better quality of Ninja doesnt mean it is made by Vishwakarma himself. It just means that Ninjas are likely to have less problems than Hyosungs over a period of time. And we have on XBHP itself seen Ninja 250s facing issues.


I would just request prospective Ninja / Hyosung customers to have the right perspective and realise that Ninja and Hyosung are not at the absolute ends of the quality scale, but both lie somewhere on this continuum, with Ninja above the Hyosung in terms of quality of parts and reliability.



I do not think we have had instances of Hyosungs with wheels coming off, or radiators exploding, or engine blowing up, or even persistent electrical troubles. There were a few cases of the rectifier relay failing, and the company changed everybody's RRs. So the dramatic picture of a motorcycle made of chinese toy plastic, scrap metal parts and assembled by children and monkeys is not accurate.

There are still many wise people won;t come in to these kind of discussions, they know each machine has its own power and place so no need to justify, hyosung bikes are good bikes only otherwise how come its in top 3 bikers in international market, anyway even people appreciate local brands for what they offer, its just iphone vs galaxy smartphone similarity.
only difference i found b/w N and H is fit and finish nothing else ..component levels are up to mark
if someone calls its junk doesn't mean that they are scrap mettle [hope that some one definition of junk might be different]
all i say from P150 to N650 all are good bikes only trust me they are not junk like chinese bikes [not all],.. its just fanboy'sm that confuse b/w icing on cake to whole package

This is news to me. Going through the Ninja thread did not reveal issues beyond the small ones that can be classified as nit picking.

Trust me no matter any bike u buy in India either Bajaj Platina or expensive Ninja .. you won't find nit picking issues,.. max you can get is some bulb or like said rectifier or may be some nuts/bolts on fairing broke or missing.. Indian 2 wheeler industry is much matured, it may be Bajaj or TVS.

My last post on this topic. Just trying to help prospective customers have the right expectations. I would absolutely love it if thousands of N650s are bought in India. It is a gorgeous bike and I now appreciate how much of a thing of joy a big bike is.

I just think it is unfair to pass judgement on the Hyosung as complete and utter crap.
