KTM Duke 200 Review: xBhp's detailed ride report

So, that means we can expect a bigger top end now? 145 kmph is realistic enough, is it? That should make it enough to replace 220 altogether... oops the half fairing, forgot about that!Originally posted by MG View PostJust in - Some Clarification on the peak power and rev limiter
The vehicle given for testing is still under calibration and the final product that will hit the market will have its rev limiter somewhere around the 11k mark. So the peak power will come at 10k while the rev limiter will kick in somewhere around 11k rpm.
I wish the P200 returns with this Duke's setup, except for bit smaller tyres, fairing, bigger tank and a good gearing for good top end & highway mileage.
So that Duke could remain a performance street bike, and Pulsar- a capable tourer.
Small OT: Guys, does the below text look like our Indian Flag?

Ok, maybe Bajaj is not so white, but more Blue, seeing those P220 adverts.

Its interesting to see how Bajaj positions the new pulsar range..
Btw,a couple of years down the line,if and when the 350 is ready, I expect boffins working on the bike to come out with a KTM SMT type of model with the dukes heart. That will be damn epicIt all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

Sunnys Pics are probably the best I have seen so far over the web, but the review is very shoddy. Its more like a PR job than a review. Am a critic, and thats all I do. Criticize. So here you go:
1. Since when are specs "Crap"
2. I dont know what this is/does - Err? Missing the point of review by a MILE! I dont expect a review to be a owners manual, but if you have a pic, atleast go back and ask and write about it rather than saying that.
3. The "Big" console comment ends up looking as a sham, especially in the pic that follows! It could be a wide angle glitch (and I know for a fact that it isnt! the consoles tiny!)
4. Dont benchmark yourself especially when you are putting "Approx" speeds. How difficult is it to put a goPro in there and track it for real, and have a clip here as evidence!
5. The Compression of 11.3 is shared with the N650 too, and it runs on any fuel that you make it drink
6. Why refer to other "Reliable Publications!" are you implying you arent one?
7. More than 20 times comments - Then calculating backword means the price is <133000 and not 1.5L (Ok I am just being an arsehole here)
8. "25bhp, 135 kgs. I don’t think any bike can compare this in India. And definitely not the heavy and bulky ones like CBR 250, or the underpowered ones like " - Like what? The R15 who advertised heavily until last month? Why write such a point in the first place. 3 different machines, three different genres. Thats like comparing Eminems vocal abilities with Elton Johns!
PS: The last record of anything around motorcycling that I have ever hated is handsomely broken by the Panigale Promo rip off. Destroying scale models (and the monster) in a Motorcycling forum? Seriously? Wow thats a league of petrohead I dont want to turn into!
PPS: It seems like the intent was to make a fun-light review and then a lot of patch work happened, and in the final result the humour seems like Catherinze Zeta Jones in the movie Titanic. Precisely. Shes isnt there!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

Thanks for the answer....Originally posted by HarishK View PostAnswers in bold
Only thing being Bajaj would have their own new non-DTSi Pulsar as rival to the KTM 200.
Rivalry starting from the point you clarified..........pricing.
Bajaj can provide refrigerator,TV and maybe an AC too, but as far KTM spare prices goes.....well.
Its an age of costly commodities anyway.
I feel this bike would be popular like Ninja 250R.Hell's Angel

The bike is cool.
Photo's are too good.
My Opinion :
*A little aggressive pricing (Maybe)
*10L tank ? (Even my 125cc bike has 12L+ tank)
*I thought I was wrong but when I googled it I became sure of it, so anyone having same problem, Let me save your googling time. Here you go:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Review
Request :
*Little more comparision with P220(On every terms[Pricing, Power, etc]). PLEASE.Never let your mouth be Broadband when your brain's on Dial Up.

Flowerly language and humorous analogies, hallmarks of a good budding critic - but i have to hand it to you, at least you came here and posted and not on some FB wallOriginally posted by satyenpoojary View PostAm a critic, and thats all I do. Criticize. So here you go:
Thats new, did not know that! I will not counter criticize anything you said here.
PS: The last record of anything around motorcycling that I have ever hated is handsomely broken by the Panigale Promo rip off. Destroying scale models (and the monster) in a Motorcycling forum? Seriously? Wow thats a league of petrohead I dont want to turn into!
Honestly you are trying too hard to be a critique, sometimes criticism just for the sake it is also not good. Go Pro et al were all there, but ground realities are different when you have te bike only for 1.5 hours with other restrictions.
And the Panigale thingie, did not understand what was the issue with that, but it is mentioned in the review that it was the inspiration.
PPS: It seems like the intent was to make a fun-light review and then a lot of patch work happened, and in the final result the humour seems like Catherinze Zeta Jones in the movie Titanic. Precisely. Shes isnt there!
. Ride on! [EDIT: Oops, I was wrong!]
And oh, did I forget to say that Bajaj paid us a lot of money for this KTM review? In fact we are so rich now I dont even know what to do!
On a serious note - great products command great reviews, and this one has been from the heart. Show me another great bike for the masses and probably you will see the same PR review here irrespective of whether someone pays us or not.
To repeat what I said elsewhere:
I guess some people want a two shoddy photo job with 15 liners and a simple SWOT analysis. Thats it. But we are not going to that.
In short, we are going to stick to doing review just LIKE this, if a motorcycle demands it.
Thanks for your critique.

Some reviews or blogs are just too many words with little key points, while most are just a repeat. You guys have got us glued to every word you write complimenting with some awesome clicks. Your style is raw, distinct and rocking, please do stick to it. But I should agree on one point though.. 'missing videos', they would have added icing to the review, sites like MCN are so commercial, but their videos give them that little edge.Originally posted by Sunny View PostIn short, we are going to stick to doing review just LIKE this, if a motorcycle demands it.

I wish, but videos were prohibited at the venue, but I do get your point.Originally posted by premson View PostSome reviews or blogs are just too many words with little key points, while most are just a repeat. Now and then, but not everyday, you do see a product that you want to completely glorify. If it is in an area that you are really passionate about, then all the more reason to do so.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostSunnys Pics are probably the best I have seen so far over the web, but the review is very shoddy. It is okay to "love" a product during its test/review.

Every review is bound to be biased. The reviewer is bound to be corrupted by external factors which are not only financial or material in nature. The reviewer may also simply like it or hate it and the review would come accordingly (like it very much and he ignores the cons and vice versa). We can go blah blah about journalistic professionalism but in the end we are humans (and inherently flawed.)
As Sunny mentions he really liked the bike and hence the review shows it. The current review is all positive for the bike.
And even if it is a PR exercise it's a damn good one
Keep it coming. And I know I ain't buying a bike on reviews alone
