I am planning to upgrade from my pulsar 150 classic to the KTM DUKE. Had it since 2002. ABS is a good feature to have on a modern day bike but i personally feel it is not a must for a city ride specially with bumber to bumper traffic. So, follow your heart and get the KTM.

This was until.... I got my Jeep! my wife frequently says - I wish I was born as your Jeep, would've got so much attention.

Having owned and driven and cared for and nursed at vintage vehicle as that - which blinks dumbly if spoken to "him" about ECU, Disc brakes, FE etc.

I don't care they are Brits, Amreekans, Chinese or Eskimos,

I am sold lock stock and barrel to the Duke!

Why else you think I'd make numerous calls to various PBK outlets to check on the consistency of the launch date claims (until I got see Mr. RB himself spill the date)

Why else you think I don't miss an opportunity to visit the PBK Indiranagar Outlet (was there y'day as well - couldn't help but stop when I saw it being decked Orange).

So celebrity wife it is - if she is not just a stunning beauty also good in bed.. er.. Road and trouble free - What better can one ask for!

Hoping to be among the first owner of the Duke! Unless PBK misbehaves with a long standing bajaj customer (Bajaj 150 -> KB100 RTZ -> Wind 125 -> Boxer CT 100)

Once again I wish to reiterate - the rants from FB - I had posted only to evoke responses and not to spread negativity! I am NOT waiting for "a few days" , let alone for a "few months" to check how it fares on the Indian roads before swinging a leg over the Duke!

Understood the celebrity status

The Duke 125 are with those people who have been exposed to a quality level which is considered as premium back here! CBFStunner or the YZF-R15 are the benchmarks when it comes to the quality of the components being used. May be thats why these products are sold internationally as well (R15 would soon be sold internationally)

Like a lot of other people out there, i have been anticipating the arrival of India's first KTM from quite some time now.

I have never previously owned a ride, and here i am in a dilemma!, but then what better place than xbhp, where we have so many proficient and experienced riders. So i thought its time i move on from just reading and appreciating (and obviously learning a lot!) and be a part of xbhp -A 'xBHP'IAN' , so i applied for an account and here i am.

The thing is i have been planning to buy a ride for quite some time and now that the negotiations are over and my parents have some how agreed, i just can't decide which one to go for. I read the review, and pretty obviously the review being so intriguing and superbly done, as soon as i was done reading i was pretty damn sure that its going to be the DUKE!(That's when the negotiations started!!). But then started the wait and i have a very fidgety mind and now i am thinking about the other possibilities that is the CBR250r and the R15 v2.0. Actually i would be using it mostly for touring and maybe sometimes to commute to my college but that would be once or twice a week(i am not that comfortable riding in Delhi's traffic :\ ).

So if someone could help me out in deciding which one would be a better Tourer. I plan to travel to every state of India on it, starting next year; till then i will improve my riding skills.
(Please tell me the Duke would do just fine)

Not with the intent of diverting attention from the Duke - I'd say CBR250R would be the one for you

Although i know going by the specifications the CBR might be a better tourer, but then i have this gut feeling about the Duke!

ABS is must for city rides, because you have very less time for reaction in city. It helps in case of panic breaking from 10 KMPH to whatever top speed

What kind of panic braking do you expect to do at 10 kmph? you don't even need brakes at that speed - u can use a thick soled shoe

On a serious note - you think folks should give up on the KTM for it does not have ABS (yet?)

What about the zillion other bikes that are without ABS - should they be taken off the roads?
