Leh and NE related or not is besides the point. There are not anywhere close to each other!

NE is Arunachal, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram etc. Leh is in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Both are accessible from completely different parts of the country
    Also culturally very different..
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Thanks Monk! The point I was trying to drive was about fuel stations being far off (not many places in India we find such a situation) and secondly the Duke being touted as a city bike for it to have a capacity of 10.5L fuel tank in the first place (doesn't mean one cannot tour with it as plenty of fuel stations are now lined up along the highways).

Sorry to have drawn the conversation away from the Duke to geography

Dont worry about being stranded due to lack of fuel availability in India. The only place where the Duke 200 will struggle in all of India is this stretch

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

        • After Geography lesson, another pertinent question --> D Day ---> Launch day!

Am looking at numerous posts on FB and T-Bhp. Some say bookings would open on 3rd Jan, while some say they got a call from the PBK outlet saying 7th Jan while some say 27th Jan.

Anybody can vouch/confirm/deny this? PBK Bangalore at least is very non-committal about dates.

          • Sunny bhai i would like to thank u for such an awesome review .no other magazine or show has provided it this detail.i feel that this is xactly the kind of bike i have been waiting for(ofcorse if its <1.3 lacs ).I still have a few concerns which probably you or other xbhpians can comment on.

1)Their website claims a 11L fuel thank.Whats the actual capacity?

2)Whats the mystery about handlebar end weights ?their website show its there but i dont see any here.May b those are not such a big thing. But still worried what they actually gonna give us.

3)What mileage can we expect in real world city riding?

4)I see a pillion sitting in a pic.So can the pillion sit comfortably? If its somewhr around fz or hunk it will be a bliss.

lastly does anybody have updates regarding booking in delhi/faridabad

Probably the best sounding exhaust on an Indian made bike..!! Deep, throaty, blood curdling, angry growl..!!!

                • ^^ In the end of the video, the guy who's in-charge, says,"16 ka average mila"
                  Any idea bout that ?
The only thing standing in your way, the ONLY thing you can count on, at any given time.. Is YOU

Not to worry guys...its just that the meter console calculates the average on an "on the go basis" so in the beginning it may not be all that accurate so you would need to use it for a bit to get it giving out accurate figures. They may just be referring to the readings as part of the training they were being given in the video...as in "if a customer asks you how do I read the average on my bike this is where you look...aha 16 ka average milega!!!" so dont worry its like the fuel level indicator in bajaj bikes they just never hit the target!!! P.S I just heard the video with my eyes closed just now and I also heard him say "22 mileage" in there somewhere...let me know if anyone else hears that...all in all I think we should all be honest with ourselves...and I just wanna come out and say...that the DUKE in all its Glory is not going to be ridden @40kmph so I guess even an average of 25kmpl after thrashing the roads would be smashing and with Good behaviour like riding @speeds from 40-60kmph it should return 30kmpl then I feel it would be a fairly good return of mileage.

Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

He mentions 16 is the mileage and 22 is the average speed of riding (probably due to stopping, accelerating then braking etc). If the real mileage would even be around 20 then thats a great turn off, coz i get around 30 on my cbr in the city. Acc to me duke's mileage should be around cbr because it sounds quiet practical. 16kmpl for a 200cc is impossible even if its thrashed very hard. Even many 600-1000cc bikes give around 10-15kmpl

                        • ^^^ Guys, just look at the way these guys are riding the bike, if you do that to CBR, i'm sure it will also end up with the same mileage. They are just repeatedly accelerating and breaking within short distance, naturally mileage will be less.

buddy let it be the meter calculated figure but still such digital devices generally give a higher than actual value (same has been observed in cars which had this technology much before than bikes in India). This is turning out to be another big disappointment for for me.I thought this would give atleast 30.Even CBR owners are reporting ~30 (it being a 250CC).

                              Exactly,

The Digital Display displays many kinds of data, one of them being the expected fuel efficiency based on the kind of riding that is being done..

..and with the kind of merciless redline ripping that is being subjected to the bike by the guys, what can one expect the system to calculate?

30 + kmpl is what I am expecting this hooligan to return under normal riding.

                              • I guess the owners have to remain happy with a figure of 25-30kmpl, no more. Thats the price to pay for the extremely short gearing.
