  • This will go slight OT:

Well i guess more or less it is pretty evident in all new launches, the 1st gen owners face a lot of issues and the 2nd gen onwards don't. I hate to say this but the 1st gen owners are indeed the test mules of the manufacturers.

Everyone was expecting CBR250R to be a better build considering bullet proof engineering and 'built to last' terms usually associated with the parent company but yes it was indeed a let down from HONDA. They should have atleast admitted that they were at fault and taken the necessary steps immediately rather then selling a huge lot of faulty bikes and then carry out silent so called 'free check up camps' and that too after 6-7 months!! i hope in the future, the actions will be taken much faster.

Anyways, i hope Bajaj will not repeat the same mistake should for any reason there is a problem with the 1st gen Duke 200s. They have done a commendable job with the Kawasaki lot and as a consumer we expect nothing else but service... people have the money to buy just that they don't want to feel cheated.

KTM has a good history to back up its Duke 200s build quality.. i am sure they won't let their potential consumers down.. HONDA did!

    Cheers

You cannot quote what Bajaj did with Kawasaki lot here.. The Ninja has been running for decades. It is not a new bike freshly launched/neither a bike completely developed in India. Bajaj did let their customers down by testing the initial lot of 220's on the consumers!

The one company which has given us a cutting edge technology bike and still not let their consumers down I feel is Yamaha with their R15. All New bike with no major glitches.. Kudos to them.

But I strongly believe now that the KTM would follow the same and be top-notch. It seems to be a sure winner.

      • Initial glitches are normal. Even the initial R15 and FZ's had issues with alloy wheels getting bent over potholes.

Its just that the initial issues should not be too many in numbers and should be resolved as soon as possible.

Oh right yeah the FIREBLADE and the CBR250R are like identical right? Silly Me...So when I go out to buy a Ninja 250r I will look at the specs of the Ninja ZX-10 right? logic logic logic...apply it sometimes...

VFR stand for "Vee-Four Road" and you know what a V4 is.There is no way the CBR 250 could have carried the VFR nameplate but yeah it could have been styled as a CBR but then again,HONDA wasnt intending on a full blown race bike.

So what did I say that was different from what you just said? you just had to have a comeback for each statement I made is it?

Difference here is, All new bike, no new technology. Yamaha did not have to invent or perfect any technology on the R15. All of the technologies for which you can have acronyms and jargon have been perfected by Yamaha over decades.

Not siding with Bajaj but they surely had to perfect the Fi and other bits on their own with their own in-house R&D. This surely takes a lot of effort. Don't think that the first Fi model launched by any of the Japanese four was perfect in all senses.

A distinct disadvantage that Bajaj has over Yamaha is that they have no racing effort. Yamaha managed to perfect technology in the heat of competition. Unfortunately, Bajaj has not done that till now. Thankfully with the KTM effort, they may just claw back that advantage that other manufacturers enjoy over Bajaj at the moment.

by your logic what you want to say is that rc and 250r are the same? So if go out to buy a 250r, i have to compare its specs with that of rc211v right. RanjithMN how silly of you! its this Honda RC211V - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and not this Honda CBR1000RR - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia .Also when you go out to buy a n250r compare the specs with this Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Btw I think the 250r is one of the best looking bikes on this side of 600cc and the duke is something that just beats it in this department. And who knows, may be the next gen cbrs would carry the design language of the current gen vfrs.

Coming to the duke, man that spedo console looks so yummy. Agree that a highlighted trellis would look even better.

You said HONDA's image is based only on the RC Rossi was on,and i asked if it cant be based on the Blade,HONDA's production bike.I dont see how you think i meant a CBR=RCV
and you asked "what was it all about" the CBR250 being design based on a VFR and i answered why.

                • KTM thread turning out to be a Ceeber thread?

Some PBK outlet somewhere (not bangalore) has let the cat out of the bag regarding opening of bookings for the KTM - ‎3rd january 2012

No I meant if they meant for the CBR250R to be a tourer they should have just named it VFR250R after what it was designed from...I know it's a tourer and a great one at that...My argument and frankly the first thing that I noticed when it was launched is that it's like a mini VFR1200F yet they still call it a CBR...so I felt that was a bit misleading in a way but thats just Me.
And yes ofcourse it can be based on the production bike Fireblade but...its just nowhere close..it's like comparing the R15 to the R1 I mean they come from the same company, have the same looks (in most areas now) but it's just not right to say hey it's a Yamaha so I'll buy it...It's a Yamaha Yes...but not THE YAMAHA...(R1) ...so that was the core of my argument with you...I never meant to offend you but this blind loyalty to a brand can land you in a soup when you spend the kind of money these bikes command!!!

I do apologize for anything I've said that could have been misconstrued by you...

Bookings would mean advance payments. right? Delivery - may be by Feb (somewhere in this thread or the other, this was mentioned). Under table nonsense works in this too???

Yeah i realised my mistake and edited it out...THANK YOU for pointing that out though...Under the table as in you know you pay a premium on the bike to get it first and all that...

                              Sounds gruff enough to me!

The handovers show how light and well balanced the bike is. The braking also looks quite controlled.

The bike is a winner - just look how excited everyone around the Duke 200 is
