people who noted that the 390 sounds different than the 200 should remember that a brand new 200 sounds a lot different than a say 7-8K old 200. Same might happen with the 390 too.

And I couldn;t go for the launch event hoping to go today for a test ride atleast

Content here are becoming increasingly not readable for those whom Hindi is not mother tongue. Appreciate other language guys for not localizing further.

@kochumvk & @yellowspunk : point taken. regret the use of hindi slang on my previous posts.
its not essentially hindi, its bambaiyya - a weird mix of hinglish & some vocabulary that's inane.
          will be careful going forward.
n btw, hindi is not my mother-tongue either but it surely is my national-tongue

@sidhusmart : thanks for the info. we await fotos clicked by u & @JayD too. that tyre seems wide enuff. n btw it was @DeVille who had inquired abt the tyres

@DeVille: by any chance u had any luck w/ ur quest for raingear / gore-tex?

I think both these threads are active and I keep forgetting where I'm posting etc.

I highly doubt that the Adventure 390 would get an Indian launch. Its more of a european farmside guys bike

Test drove the beast yesterday guys, and fyi i own a duke200, so my findings are more of comparisions.
1.Abs works flawlessly, i tried the rear brake manytimes, and it worked everyrime.
2.Bike seems bit taut than the 200.
                          3.clutch is bit stiff.
                          4.Bike zooms.did about 70 in 2nd.
5.for city, 2-3-4 gears are the max you can use, unlike d200 which works in 6th gear at speeds excess of 30.
5.iirc, 2nd gear 2500-3000 rpm was 30kmoh which pulls till 80(i did 70 though).that speaks about the drivability and longleggednes.
                          6.Tyres are fantastic in wet
7.Bike lunges ahead after 6-7krpm, in a more pronounced way than d200.
So net net, really a worthy upgrade to all enthusuiasts.this is easy performance, unlike d200 which has to be wrung out till guts, but i like it that way....remember rx100 vs rx135.

Glad someone wrote about it. Me, Abhay and a couple of other folks were present yesterday at Vashi KTM. Duke 390 was on display, and they arranged for Test Ride. Before I put forward my opinion, a slight insight as to what I ride and what I had in the past.

I had been riding Joeled P230 for quite sometime, and I must say, that has raised the bar and expectations from any bike that boasts about performance. Sadly, I had to let it go as it was close to 4 years of ownership and I got a good deal. After that I moved on to Duke 200 which is 45 days old now. As ynike99 rightly said you have to wrung the performance out of ths bike. It is super aggressive to say the least. Gearbox, handling, engine everything works in perfect unison. The bike is just ready to pounce, and it always forces (begging will be incorrect) you to ride insanely.

Coming back to Duke 390, I expected a bigger version of Duke 200. I mean the aggressiveness, the taughtness of the engine. But that was not the case. For starters, I felt bottom end torque was quite less. Bike stalled a couple of times, when i tried to ride it as I would do in a bumper to bumper traffic. Abhay insisted that I give a little more gas and release the clutch, however, when you are in bumper to bumper traffic, many times you dont get to do that.

In terms of bottom end torque, I rate my P230 highest, next is Duke 200 and finally Duke 390.

Also, it sounds different from the Duke 200, that 2 stroke like puttering which has become a trademark, is almost not there. The Engine feels lot relaxed, nowhere as tight as Duke 200.

Summing it up from the short test ride that I had, I wouldn't put my D200 on block for sale yet, as I didn't find it that impressive.

This is purely my opinion, and I do not expect anyone to agree to it.

                            Thanks!!

Thanks for this comparison! I was waiting for someone to compare the two...

To be honest, the only thing that "worries" me is that D390 won't be as much fun as D200. Just because you can't open it and push it as much as you can D200, you have to ride it in lower rpms because it's more powerful, ride in "calmer" way than D200.
Maybe you can open D390 fully at some perfect hill roads but not in a city and most roads...
