Re: Off Topic : A thread about doggies..
Its a little bit OT but want to share because people from all parts of India are active here.
I love dogs as much as i love bikes and cars. but all my life i only knew about foreign dog breeds and our local street dog or stray dog. One year ago while browsing on net i saw some article about Indian breed dogs other than stray dog(which is also an ancient breed called Indian pariah most stubborn breed of dog in India due to natural elimination of weak dogs, well adopted with Indian climate ), many guys from south shall have idea about this breeds. but all these breeds are on verge of extinction cos of crossbreedding and improper knowledge about the breed.
Carvan hound (carvani), Mudhol hound.(native of maharshtra) Waghya-famous dog of Shivaji Maharaj was a mudhol hound but now its hard to find this dogs in MH, i am searching for them from long time, breeders have them but comes with big price tag, heard that in sangali people have them in every home.
Carwani
mudhol hound
Rajapalyam- native from rajapalayam, tamilnadu. they also have place in history. known as bore hunters, they can die to protect their owner, i read somehwere that 4 rajapalayam dogs killed a tiger to save owner and his family. they are aggressive like rottewiller and playful as a labrador. Government of tamulnadu took serious effort to save this breed.
No one have this dog in maharashtra, planning to bring two pups from madurai to mumbai. want to popularize rajapalayam in maharashtra, as in my village people pets aggressive dogs like german shefard, great dane to guard there homes and farms from leopards and wild bores, but as they are foreign breeds comes from different climate country, they suffers a lot.
Rampur Hound native of madhypradesh
Gaddhi Kutta native of north region
Kanni, Chippiparai, Kombai- natives of south part of India.
More info on http://www.dogsindia.com/indian_breeds.htm
Just my two cents to save our own breeds..Last edited by Darchorse; 02-28-2016, 08:31 PM.Big Power Comes With Big Responsibility

Re: Off Topic : A thread about doggies..
WARNING : LONG POST [emoji12]
This is my buddy TOMMY , practically a stray dog(well not completely). Found him on the side of road back in 2009 when I was going to my college hostel after holi vacations. He would be around 2-3 months old and looks very hungry and weak and was so much thin that initially I was afraid to catch/hold him, so that I wouldn't break his one or two ribs accidentally [emoji23]
Anyways I pick him up gently and bring him to my hostel (keep him outside of my room as he was shit scared). For few weeks feed him regularly and meanwhile he also became familiar with the hostel building. So now most of the time he wanders inside or nearby the hostel and eats whatever he can find behind the hostel mess(just like I wanted him to be - independent). Off course I used to feed him once in a while or when he comes to my room( frequency decreases with time as he had a gang of 3-4 dogs to keep him busy).
Time flies and I graduated in 2012 and left that place. Sometimes go back there to meet my juniors and also to fill my monthly alcohol quota [emoji12]
I have a Rx100, so whenever I go to the hostel Tommy comes to the gate to meet me every time . But on 20 Dec 2014 when I reach the hostel gate there was no sign of him, at first I thought may be he was roaming some far from the hostel so didn't hear the bike sound but that is something which didn't happen before. Saw some junior near the entry gate so asked them about him(fear started building in me that something might have happened to him since my last visit). Those juniors told me that few weeks back some 4th year students were having a party and after that they kicked Tommy from the 1st floor and since then he just lay around some corner inside the hostel.
I was like whaaaaaaat [emoji35] [emoji35] [emoji35] [emoji35]
All my party mood was gone now and with anger I started searching for him. After nearly 30mins I saw him laying behind the corridor, when I called his name he started crying very loudly and was unable to stand properly. I was so much relieved after seeing him , even though he was badly hurt in the right hind limb.
Immediately call one of my senior who is doing his PhD there for his car and bring Tommy back home.
Next day take a leave from the work and take him to a vet, and after 1 month he was back to normal and more energetic than before. Since than one year has been passed successfully [emoji4]
Well some strange thing too happens during this one year. Tommy becomes a wonderful gaurd dog(don't know how [emoji2] ) and pick up so many good habits like
1) He never poops inside the house boundary.
2) Didn't like other dogs to come near the house and run them away( he always remain free )
3) learn to sit in the car ( but only ours)
4) Barks on every person who stands outside the house gate( even when he grows up in a hostel where he was used to see 300 new faces every year )
5) Last September alerts us and also stops a snake from entering the house
6) Never enters inside any room
And so much more [emoji4]
When he was around 5 months old

Re: Off Topic : A thread about doggies..
That was a lovely gesture. And thats why I trust them more than humans.
My part :
Me and buddy go for long walks after dinner so most of my friends said to carry sticks to scare the stray dogs. My answer was "Why should I, they are defending their turf, nothing wrong in it. I would rather teach Buddy not to growl at them."
I wish I could feed all the strays in my colony. I usually keep biscuits near my building.Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

Re: Off Topic : A thread about doggies..
I also don't keep any fancy pets. Just that I feed the nearby dogs and cats. The thing is that I fondle the dogs in our colony and they love me. Not only in colony but wherever I go and on seeing dogs call them and pat them. And the thing is that most dogs easily become pet of mine. It hardly takes one minute for me.
I also absolutely hate people who shows cruelty towards animals.
And the more I hate when children learning from parents hit those street dogs with stone and sticks. I really feel angry and sometimes have told parents that instead of teaching hatred to children make them to love. That's why I am not liked in colony.
Some days back colony people complained that the dogs are chasing our children. I said it is not possible. When they see me they wag their tail, roll on ground feeling joy, then why will they chase your children. Instead I said fondle them, feed them food instead of throwing in dustbin.
By this you will get three advantage:-
1. They will play with your children instead of hurting them.
2. You do not need security guards as they will keep guard.
3. Instead of soiling and dirtying the dustbin and wasting food it could come to use.
Had to show them advantage as it is humans that they don't do anything until they get its advantages.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. Re: Off Topic : A thread about doggies..
I had a German Shepherd.. Bought in the Year 2003 when I was doing my 11th Std..
DOB - 20th May 2003
DOPurchase - 15th June 2003
Couple of days after we brought him to his new home..

Couple of Months later

He was a full grown man.. He was considered as a brother and we never let anyone call him a Dog..

Unfortunately, just after my graduation, my dad was transferred to New Delhi.. So we had to leave him back with my brother in Chennai.. Max loved my mom and dad.. every time he heard our Tata Safari (Only Ours) he starts jumping up and down.. we stayed in the 2nd floor (Own house) and he was free to go around any time he wants.. He goes down to the ground floor and my dad used to take him for a short drive.. The last row of Safari was reserved for him..
My brother used to send us his pic every week
We usually trim his hair during summer.. and here is how he looked..
He used to miss my dad & mom like anything and he was always upset.. How can I forget, we used to feed him

Whenever we go out to the market and return, he will never settle down till he gets a New ball to play with

He used to wait for someone to snatch it from him.. and will chase you down..
All of a sudden, we got a call from my brother saying that Max shouts in pain when he lies on his left side.. on inspecting, they found a tumor.. a big one

We took him to the best of Vets in Chennai and they advised some medicines.. He seemed to be getting a little better and my marriage was nearing.. I was eagerly waiting to see my Max.. and all of a sudden, he started crying in pain again.. My brother took him to the doctor and they advised to conduct an operation.. we consulted a couple of more doctors and they said the same..
We got the operation done.. The doctors gave some medicines.. He wasn't able to eat, he used to cry in pain every minute.. we were heart broken..
My marriage was nearing and my flight to Chennai was on the 20th of Nov 2014.. I reach home from office at 5 PM as my flight was scheduled at 8:45PM and I hear my mom crying.. My brother just called to inform about Max.. He breathed his last breathe on my brother's lap..
I asked my brother to send me his pic..
I was all in tears throughout the flight and on seeing max in his death bed, I shed out more tears and I couldn't stop crying.. My dad was in more tears and I had never seen him cry my entire life.. not even when his father passed away he cried..
We had Max in freezer box and we consoled ourselves believing he left this world for a good cause..
He had a Kidney failure.. All the medicine he was given was of high dosage and he didn't even have his food properly..
Here is a pic which will always be a treasure in my house..
His blood stain on the wall after the operation..
He was a wonderful companion.. He would never let anyone hit anyone of us.. He was always loving and caring.. He used to get jealous when I come home after playing with the street dogs.. He would just turn his face away from me and on cuddling with him, he will lose out on his Ego and lick me all over my face.. I Miss him so much..

Date of Death - 20th Nov 2014
We buried him inside our house and he remains a guardian of our house forever and ever..Last edited by rreneav1987; 03-23-2016, 12:26 PM.Splendor - 2k to 2006

I'm sorry, but since when "dog lovers" have started using "Electric Shocks" on their pets???Originally posted by dogcollarreviewsAwesome replies from forum members. I am a dog lover and blogger. Do you even know the meaning of love? You think love is training dogs to sit, stand up and walk on your command? Who are you, God?
Do you think untrained dogs don't understand love?
Read the above story by [MENTION=27501]rreneav1987[/MENTION] to know what pet love is. And the countless other stories here..

I have a German shepherd named Blossom. Previously owned a number of American Eskimos, an Indian Street dog, a Doberman and German shepherd mix, a Doberman.
I love training dogs, so much so that I once thought of it as a career lol

I love German shepherd breed. Three years ago I finally got a puppy. So here's my Max!Originally posted by Neo77k View PostI have a German shepherd named Blossom. Previously owned a number of American Eskimos, an Indian Street dog, a Doberman and German shepherd mix, a Doberman.

I love this guy, I can't treat him like an animal, he's a full-fledged family member. Though I have a few tips for everyone planning to get a puppy of this breed. This article says those shed too much and that's true. Be prepared to brush your dog at least twice a week otherwise you'll have fur everywhere in your house.
