I'm not saying that motorist guests should be differentiated based on the number of wheels on their vehicles. But I'm sure you all understand the reason behind stringent security checks at hotels.

However, I also strongly agree with 'Anhil8r'.

Once again I apologize on behalf of the industry and will try my best at my workplace atleast to ensure all guests are treated equally. Be it at the F and B outlets or even the entrance.
Number of wheels The next time i visit a star hotel ll steal a truck and get in (more wheels than in a car) hope i get the status of a v.v.v.v.v.v.I.P Just Kidding ,,,, JD666 bro sorry to hear what happened to you ...Issue ought to be writen to concern people ,,,may be the hoteliers association or HRD or Tourism ministry......
@JAKRAP rather we should tell them we are from the media they will allow us park in the lobby itself even if you were riding a luna

^^ some hotels have direct policies. And with the number of people turning up on two wheelers, they will look like a government office. So they prefer to tuck em away on the side, which is fine by me, but atleast provide suitable, swift access to the hotel area, rather than making us suffer for coming on a two wheeler.

Btw - whenever i gotta go to a hotel, i take my Nano. The attendants, not having driven one, jump to the car and park it in quite some enthusiasm. Though not a car to be seen in at a Hotel, it does get its share of attention and queries!!

I thought to offer some credits to 5 star hotels. Not just for the sake of it, but my experience.

Radisson Mahabalipuram - No questions asked, I was directed to parking lot without questions. The parking lot had considerable motorcycles & had just right parking. I carried my helmet along & there were no questions.

Le Royale Meridien Guindy - Again, no questions & was directed to parking lot. The lot was almost empty & no one bothered where or how I parked.

Fortune Kences Tirupathi (3*) - Myself & SriramEFunds were on his Uni. We were directed to parking lot. Again, we couldn't see any discrimination

Though too early for me to comment, but still, it all depends on how one presents themselves. If we proceed confidently, demand, yet politely, for the reasons, I'm sure our bikes will be allowed in. Typical reasons, these are what I could assume...
          - We have a policy of not allowing customer's motorcycle's inside. We can ask back saying, where're you staffs parking? Are you saying your staffs are more important than guests?
          - We don't allow motorcycles. Ask them sternly, yet politely as why they don't allow motorcycles?

Remember to challenge the reason, but not challenge the staffs.

Last but not the least, when visiting such places, if not polished, keep your rides dust free & clean up the leaking oil to give some tidy looks.

Surprisingly I havent had a problem with the gear. But yes Parking is definitely a problem.

Though once on a tour to Goa, the hotel staff were amused to see someone ride all the way from Mumbai and were more than courteous!

I agree with Riaz. I never faced any problem in Hyderabad. I have been to 5 star hotels on a 15 year old HH CD100ss, a 2 stroke Kinetic Honda and recently a plane jane looking suzuki zeus and a ZMA. In every hotel, there are separate parking lots for two wheelers. In some of them the parking for two wheelers is closer to lobby!!!

                .....
London congestion charge other vehicles must pay to enter the city during the day. Motorcycles are also exempt from toll charges at some river crossings, such as the Severn Bridge, Dartford Crossing, and Mersey Tunnels. Some cities, such as Bristol, allow motorcycles to use bus lanes and provide dedicated free parking. In the United States, those states that have high-occupancy vehicle lanes also allow for motorcycle travel in them. Other countries have similar policies.
In New Zealand motorcycle riders are not required to pay for parking that is controlled by a barrier arm;[53] the arm does not occupy the entire width of the lane, and the motorcyclist simply rides around it.[54] Many car parks controlled in this way supply special areas for motorcycles to park, so as not to unnecessarily consume spaces.
In many cities that have serious parking challenges for cars, such as San Francisco, US and Melbourne, Australia, motorcycles are generally permitted to park on the sidewalk, rather than occupy a space on the street which might otherwise be used by a car.

Forget 5 star hotels here at Kamala City in Lower Parel, Mumbai, bikers have to pay 2000 bucks per month to park inside while cars are allowed in for FREE! Such are the narrow minded rules!

Sadly with 5-Star hotels there is not much that we can really do! But if they do block you from entering with your bike just tell them 'you just lost the hotel Rs.100,000 worth of business!' LOL. I tried that, I think, at Leela, where we were blocked from parking our bike inside and had to take a coupon and park it outside!

Just wondering if there can be a solution to it? I know in malls they don't bother checking bikers if the bikers are not carrying any bags or if the bike doesn't have a side dabba.

Honestly speaking not allowing bikes inside 5-star hotels due to security reasons is pure bullshit. All they care about is there image and standing amongst patrons which will be spoilt if they allow '2 wheelers' to be parked inside. Little do they realise, those who can afford SBKs are far richer (assumption) & can spend far more than those who can come in Nanos, Altos & santros!

                    Star rating!

How about a mail to the organisations which give these hotels the star ratings??

                    As per wiki: Source
Hotels are independently assessed in traditional systems and rest heavily on the facilities provided.

Guys yesterday I went to 'The Leela' (Mumbai) and this is the conversation happened between me at the main gate with the security guys.

Security: Sir 2-wheelers are not allowed inside.
                        Me: Why?

                        Security: Security Reasons sir .
Me: Are 2-wheelers threat to your hotel? A car will be a big threat to your hotel as compared to motorcycles.

Security: No Sir. I am doing what I am asked to do.
                        Me: And what is that?

Security: Not to allow 2-wheelers. I dont make the policies sir. Please park your bike outside.

I was forced to do so because my VP was waiting for me me inside and I was alreayd late. After Dinner I was about to take these guys left & right on their parking policy but my VP was there and I left while he was waiting for his car (I thought of abusing the person who is incharge in front of his guest for their rules).

I would never go to 'The Leela' again till these guys change their attitude towards motorcycles.

Very true. Have had very frustrating experiences in various multiplexes. An exception is Big Cinemas (gurgaon and Noida) Have sworn off PVRs precisely for this reason.

i have faced this issue in lucknow once but not in 5*s just 1/4th star hotel where i tried to take a room once. the receptionist ask me from where i was coming (by seeing my helmet) and i replied i live here at my hostel but it is closed due to holiday and i need a room for 1 day. He declined saying that u'll have to complete various formalities which u'll never be able, so i generously asked "like what?" and he said u have to provide us with your government id card, so i said "i have a PAN card, a driving licence and a voter's id card, what else u want???" then he rudely replied sorry sir we cant give you a room so i said ok and left.
and now whenever i thinks of bike touring, the most tension-able thing for me is "where i will stay???" and "if i didn't get a room then???"
