  • Agreed, an MP3 player should have as linear a frequency response curve as possible. That graph shows that the W902 will play rock/ metal very nicely (both music styles have very little midrange in them), but will sound like crap for everything else. The S/N ratio and all the other figures look very nice though.

I wouldn't purchase any Walkman now.
Puhlease, Like you were gonna, otherwise. Anyway, check out the W980. It has a much better frequency response (And was voted as best music phone of 2008 by EISA, an association of mobile testing magazines in europe).

I mean Equalizer should be open for User Experimentation.
Actually, it is for well.. equalizing bad recordings.

I see that everywhere on Internet, people are going against SE.
It's an internet fad. People who haven't even seen certain SE models in real life comment on their build quality and UI bugs etc. Little can be done except use one's common sense.

P.S. I can't comment on any prototypes, Samarth. It's part of the confidentiality clause.

Can you recommend any other Walkman with 3.2+ MP AUTOFOCUS Cam? A good OS preferred.

Well, when you said that Cybershot & Walkman are merging here, I was seriously interested in them. After all, Sony quality level is reliable in most matters.

I do hope SE pumps in more features in it's sets, like Operating Systems, GPS, WiFi, etc. XPERIA is good although. Waiting for X2 eagerly...

and regarding prototypes, it's ok. I can understand your reason.

      • Hey guys,
I own a W910i!! It celebrated its first birthday last December.
And i agree with the sound quality you people talk about. My old W700i used to sound better or so i feel.
        Cheers!

        • This strictly a rumour, but there's talk of a walkman version of the C905, which features a metal body, 3.5mm jack, A300 operating system, walkman 4.0 player and 8GB or more memory. it probably will be unveiled at MWC in a week's time.

You can check out the C902 in the meantime, which has a 5MP AF camera plus the walkman 3.0 player (without the walkman branding, senseME and Shake control). I've found it to be a very good handset, but the display is only 2 inches. Also, I am unsure if it ships with the HPM 77 headsets in India. I would assume that it doesn't.

If you're looking for smartphones from SE, you'll see them later this year. Both Android and Symbian foundation handsets are in the pipeline. Personally, I don't really care about smartphones. I prefer the speed and simplicity of a featurephone platform (such as the A200) to the slower, dull looking smartphones. Of course, I don't install too many third party apps, so my needs may be totally different from yours.

          • A Walkman in 8 MP?? Then, I guess waiting is better. I do hope they don't miss anything important like WiFi, etc...

Headsets matter less, as I can purchase a 3.5mm anytime.

I need a bigger display from a Flagship, so I'll ignore C902 for now. and yes- I install a lot of Apps, so you'r right there ...

            • Was randomly browsing through Croma's collection of mobile phones when I noticed the Samsung G800 for a ridiculously low 15000 bucks. That would make it the cheapest 5MP phone available now. The N82 remains at a distant 19k .....

Got my hands on the E63 as well, wow thats a nice phone. When I next change my phone its the red one Ill be getting.

It's a decent phone, kind of "Jack of all trades, master of none"!!

If you are looking for the cheapest 5 MP cell, there was a weird shaped LG KG902 or something, most probably a Chinese branded set that comes for just 10k .

                    • Wow 13.5k is a brilliant price for the phone. BTW whats the cheapest place to get phones in Blore ? Mobilenxt is a tad more expensive than its competition. As Pranay said - Which Timeout ?

Guys in Madras, check Wavetel Mobiles , the chain's prices are pretty low.

                        Oops....Sorry guys, my mistake.I meant G600!!

But still 15k for G800 is awesome pricing!! Reliance Timeout on Cunningham Road is where you would get good offers and also do give a look at the Sangeetha outlet which offers warranty against liquid damage and also provide insurance for theft!!

                        • Well guys, the cheapest 5 MPs are Samsung G600 & SE K850i. As usual, both sets are feature phones (not smartphones, means they have limited software support) ...

Subjectively, the 5 MP sets with maximum Value for Money, I believe are K850i & N79.

N79 is priced at 19k, and still has better audio quality than N95, N82, N70, etc ...

For my city, Subhiksha Chain of Stores offer the best price, as of now. Your city might be having it too...

I see. Sad! Even in Ajmer, the Subhiksha is closed since the last month or so ...

Damn, I still remember them offering me a Samsung U600 for 10k.

Any special reason for it's closure? and when it's reopening?
