I meant the classic one, NOT 8GB, if you can get it from somewhere, still costs 16-17k .. I was told this by a Mobiles dealer 2-3 days back.

        • Man this one thing i really hate about Nokia phones their prices crash in such manner that it evn shames the sensex.

But i find it very odd that E90 is still retailed as almost same price at which it was launched. Same was the case with E61i, its no longer available, but even thisphone manage to hold its price of 16k for its entire life span.

          Samarth any comment on this?

Yes! In fact, a great point raised!

Well, even a Nokia Director clearly said that we set the prices on the base of "Costumer's Value of that Product" & not exactly technical details. Clearly, it shows why 5800 is somewhat less expensive than it could have been. Coz it had to kill iPhone ...

Similarly, any phone you value high now will be priced high, ir-respective of technicals & features! E90 was never given the same value as say, N95 ... Hence, E90's price never showed a big change, as it's demand hardly changed these years.

Take an example, I purchased N91 for Rs. 26k in it's peak. Now, it is sold 1st Hand (new) for around Rs.11k ... Hence, the company must be producing it for around 7k for which I paid about 4 times more! Shocking but a reality!

Price is more of a demand-biased variable than a features biased. Of course, features speak too, but only in segmenting a product as low, high, etc.

Its just a half truth, its price might not have shown the de riguer southward movement as like other noks, but nonetheless prices has gone down around a year back this handset was sold at around 20k and last week my sister in law picked up the music edition at 12.7k.

@Samarth: Let me rephrase what you have stated, that if a product seems to create good enough excitment and subsequently demand nokia may end up pricing it real high despite of the fact the production cost is real cheap. Is this what you meant by customer;s value?
