INNOV8 - This was the shortlisted model but saw after samarth referred. This phone doesnt have a QWERTY keyboard and didnt like the looks but still great phone.

I am a Sony Ericsson user since many years(T230 for a year then W810 for more than 2years and am still using) so I am more familiar with SE phones. X1 has got all the things that I need so it is a perfect combo for me. X1's build quality is just great. It feels very rigid. The only cons that I have heard about X1 are that it is overpriced(right price according to me is 30-35k) and is a bit laggy.

The Xperia has a 3.5mm jack?

Wow, 120fps is awesome, most of the phones dont even shoot at 30-60fps.
How is the touch interface experience with lg?

not to mention, that it will show only 65,536 colors, which look bad. Win Mobile can't display more colors as of now...

The display must be a decent 262k or 16M Color display ... What's the use of that memory, etc. if you can't watch Good Photos, clear movies, videos, etc. on it?

@ Satyenpoojary: I can understand your experience. Maybe you should try handling a friend's N79 or N85, and see the difference, especially in Music quality & Speed ...

X1 share one thing with other SE phones and that is the Music Player. Well it is different from the one in my W810i but it is same as the one on W910i and there is not much difference except for the theme.

@satyen Will the Google Android(htc G1) fulfill my needs?

The G1 is a sad phone as of now

What I am trying to say is that with new OS coming up and common people designing features etc, others would be forced to work in a new direction...!

I mean look at the drastic change in the phone interfaces available before the iPhone and now!

I saw some reviews about G1 and found out that Android is a great OS but G1 looks ugly. It fulfills my needs except for the music. It doesnt have any 3.5mm jack doesnt even support stereo bluetooth so I think I should stick to X1 only.

Stick to X1 for now.... the G1 is still a very fast evolving product.... it might end up as one of those 'retro wants' for geeks

Exactly, in fact, a developer's G1 is available for about $399 ...

it has not fully evolved, so no purpose buying it now even if it is available ...

@setuniket motoming a1600, n81 8gb.
both around 15000/-
e71 19000/-

Ps n81 has no gps i think just check it out

N95 is 18000/-

my current fav is a1600 if wifi not needed as it has 3g
if wifi is a must then E71 becoz i has a qwerty pad which rocks and is pretty sleek and small

A1600 is 4 GB and doesn't stand in comparison to A1200 in terms of looks..

N81 seems to a better choice, E71 is more of a business phone...

hows GPS support in N81, maps and all..!

Bullshit on all counts.

It's not about how many colors it CAN display, it's how well you utilize them. Go to the Se-NSE blog. Mizzle has screenshots of both the X1 and a K850i (which has a 256k display) loaded up with the test color pattern, side by side. See which one has better saturation, color depth and contrast ratio.

Unless you're gonna spend all your time watching divX movies on your phone, you won't notice the numerical difference. (In which case you need a PMP, not an uber expensive phone). Even more minute is the difference between 256k and 16M, mostly because the human eye can't recognize 16M colors.

...and lastly, several tech blogs reported that the whole myth about Win-Mo not being able to support more than 65K colors is just that: A myth. It has more to do with the hardware platform, but I'm too busy to dig up the whole shebang.

My requirement is 8Gb memory(inbuilt or expandable card), good music player,looks and GPS(with support and all) thats it,,all other things are optional...

The Xperia is set to go just under SGD 1000 early next year. You may wanna buy it from here coz that' s a good deal less than the price in India. I've used it and found it brilliantly built. There's a bit of lag when you click on a panel and it leads you into the application. But it's not as big a lag as you'd think.

WinMo 6.5 is supposed to come out next year and an upgrade would do wonders to the X1.
