Diamond frames, downtubes and now THIS! You are versatile. But you have not posted much in biking discussions of late. I gather its just a phase.Originally posted by Synn View PostThe Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

I dunno what capacity memcard the G705 comes with in India, but it's a brilliant phone with a (non branded) walkman 3.0 player, GPS, wifi and all that stuff. an 8GB card is $65 here which translates to Rs. 1950.Originally posted by setuniket View PostMy requirement is 8Gb memory(inbuilt or expandable card), good music player, looks and GPS(with support and all) thats it,,all other things are optional...
GSMarena has a review up. see if it meets your expectations.
Also, I wouldn't really recommend the N81. It's features are sub-par and the keyboard is plain horrendous. Plus, there is no scope for memory expansion (on the 8GB) and things start to get real sllllloooow once the memory fills up.

No, Not necessary. For your basic needs, there are so many great sets which match your requirement:-->Originally posted by setuniket View PostThanks synn sir, will have to venture in SE I guess..
BEST Suggestion: Samsung i550/ i560 (w560 for Wifi added)
Going more expensive, you'll find :-->
Nokia 6220 Classic,
Nokia N79,
or maybe N85,
Samsung Omnia i900 (but this would be too expensive even for gift)
(Please anyone don't recommend N95, N82, etc. Music is too "Average")

@ Synn: I have felt the difference between 65k and 262k. But, no doubt that 16M is better & noticeable both. Somewhat similar to comparing images on your Monitor to your phone.
It is way obvious. Reg. 65k+ Colors on WinMo, it has happened to Samsung i740... So Yes, clearly it's a Myth!

It's released abroad, but with a higher price than promised 279 Euros, rather a large 510 Euros. Damn you Nokia, found high demand & increased price?? WTF?Originally posted by StreetHawk@7 View PostGuys, any news on market launch dates of Nokia 5800, i think it will be great phone...way better that the over rated IPhone
Anyways, I "personally" expect it to be in India by March. Expect a 20k+ tag.
It's clearly better than iPhone, no doubts about that.Last edited by Samarth 619; 12-12-2008, 04:47 PM.---

Again, assumption based on half truths.
The Tube s given a "Suggested retail price" of 279 Euros by Nokia. This means that the seller is "Recommended" to sell at that price, but not bound to follow it. The 500 plus euro price that you quoted was by a spanish telco that offers the phone as part of a package deal. Please research carefully before making such comments.

What was that about 65K vs 256K again?

Even 35k is a great price man. Will try to get if from there but would be difficult. Any other country where it is cheaper? Can I buy it Online?Originally posted by Synn View PostWhat I meant was that the current price of the phone is around 35K INR, and is supposed to come below 30k next year. If you're visiting singapore, it would be wise to buy the handset from here, right?Yamaha YZF-R15 is Here

Nokia's Directors Speeches also mentioned the price clearly, when the set was announced. It happened at a Night Club in London. Being a Mobilesmania.com MOD, I must take account of any such change & announcement.Originally posted by Synn View PostAgain, assumption based on half truths.

So, if I don't believe a Director, Who on earth should I believe? Getting ma' point?
Actually, a Nokia director mentioned in an interview that Price is not dependent on Cost much, it's more dependent on Market ... So, it's clear that high demand can't be satisfied, hence high price...
and on 2nd point yes, you're right. Let Setuniket decide ...
Reg. Colors, Try opening mobilesmania.com in a 65k/ 256k display cell, you will find that it's LOGO COLORS are quickly changing from grey to another shade of grey & back. This happens due to lack of right color, especially in Nokia 7610, etc.
Moreover, if the difference is so minute, Why would OEMs like Nokia, Samsung implement it at such a cost? Logical, ain't I?

1) Again, the price Nokia directors announced were the "Suggested" MRP. And the 500 euro price is for a package deal. Read my post again CAREFULLY and try to work out the meaning.
2) Your mobilesmania logo is a GIF file. And by the very definition of a GIF file, it is restricted to 256 colors. TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY SIX. Get it?
The logos are displayed incorrectly because the browser interprets the color palette incorrectly. Not because of the limitation of the display. Being in the graphics industry and such, I should know a thing or two about these matters.
Nokia, Samsung etc. do it exactly for the same reason as LG. SE etc. make 8.1 MP cam phones. Bragging rights. Now look at the picture again and tell me what you think of it. Pictures don't lie, you know?

Driftking: I am not sure about prices in other countries. You can try to buy off ebay singapore, but please make sure the seller has a high reputation.

Pheew!
I just managed to load Android on my TYTN2... pretty neat, but can hardly do anything with it... the feel of linux being loaded in the ppc gave me a lot of nostalgic thoughts of installing and messing our NIIT PCs

@ Synn Bhaiya: When I saw it, it was a JPG File (maybe changed now by Hassan bhai, our secondary ADMIN) & it does happen in my 6670. Reg. Color difference, I have noticed it clearly on multiple occasions, mostly in my N91 & 6300. Now, How can I really convince?
Anyways, I notice you have good knowledge about Mobiles. So, why not try a hand at MobilesMania? The 3 Lac members can heavily benefit from your knowledge ... Think about it a moment. Thanks...Last edited by Samarth 619; 12-16-2008, 06:50 PM.---
