Bought it for Rs.12800/-..quite a good deal. 2MP camera without flash but the quality is very good when compared to other phones.
Currently I'm not using email services but other functions are quite good to use.
The sound may not be that loud but sound quality with earphones is very much worth it plus 3.5mm jack and a talk time of 4hours and 30 minutes.

One thing that surprised me : you can only transfer contacts via Blue tooth otherwise no pics, no song transfer and that is the reason why blackberry is virus free.

Conclusion: A must buy phone in the range of 13K with Wifi, good talktime, Email connectivity, sound quality(earphone), fast processing, comfortable track pad and a decent camera.
Dont buy blackberry plan. i will tell you how to bypass the Blackberry plan. And then you can use the phone with normal GPRS. blackberry plans will cost you a lot. I am already using normal GPRS on my Blackberry and just paying for the Data I use.

I can check my emails.. surf internet.. and just pay for the data I use.

PS - If you are using Vodafone connection.. then this tactic or trick might not work.

Head to crackberry.com and update the firmware.... you can send images and music files on a BB as well. For that you have to go to media library and click "recieve using bluetooth" option. IMO BB = seamless eMAIL/IM etc. Without using a mail you are wasting money on the device

Vodafone 299 plan is for mails only .. and once you activate that plan.. you cant use it for surfing internet.. i mean not even for Google maps. You have to take BIS 500Rs plan.. or BIS 900 plan to get it going.

Actually I am using Tata Docomo. I used the trick in my Blackberry 8820 and it worked. but since I have been facing network issues with Docomo.. wanted to switch over to Vodafone. Tried accessing the internet by putting my colleague's vodafone Sim. Trick didnt work. Might be i will have to fiddle around more woth vodafone.

Trick is very simple. Follow the steps -

Get opera browser from opera.com. Install Opera browser. Blackberry browser wont work since Blackberry browser have been encoded to go thru only Wifi or BIS (Blackberry Internet services). So one would need Opera browser. Install the browser using Blackberry Desktop manager.

Edit - Try to install Opera Mini 4. Internet works fine on this.
Go into settings > Advanced options > TCP > APN - enter the APN

Get the APN from your operator. (APN - Access point name, its also availablle freely on internet )
there are 2 more options below the APN. Usename and Password. Leave them blank.

Enter the APN. come out of menu. Switch off the mobile. take out the battery. put the battery back.. switch on. It will take good time to restart. Opera will detect the APN automatically.

Once phone starts launch opera browser. enter google or some website.. check if this works.

This is cost effective as you pay for your use. No monthly rentals.

@ Rohit mundra - btw no need to call Airtel. The APN of airtel is - airtelgprs.com. Follow the steps above and let me know if this works.

@ satyen - Yaar i will reinstall opera once and see if this works with vodafone. One last try. i am not able to switch to vodafone because internet is not working with Vodafone.

Samsung Duos series are quite good. Currently there are 6 models available.
                    Price range is from 4k-12k.
4k one is also very good with mp3, micro-sd card support, nice battery backup, vga camera etc.

Most importantly Samsung Duos series have Dual Standby feature
ie. If you are talking on sim1 and someone calls on sim2 it will show sim2 call waiting.

Other Dual sim handsets allow usage of only one sim at a time for calling.

The top end model has 3.2mega cam & probably wi-fi also.

                      Micromax X500@5750/-

Nokia is hassle free and best suited for given requirements.
Best buy (VOF) would be Micromax x500 5mega cam and full touch screen.

                              • Guys right now I'm using a nokia 5130 which I bought more than a year ago for 6200/- . I wasn't looking for a replacement, but then I saw a friends status on facebook about the launch of new phones from nokia. The tech-head I am, took a look and I'm really hooked on the Nokia C6. Any Idea when It's goning to launch? Also, the price I got off the net was 220 pounds which comes out as 15000 inr. There aren't any specifications available for this phone on the internet, so if anyone has them (gps, wifi etc etc) them please do share
