  • Abhayshanum,

Thats because its certainly annoying to wait in my Garage for more than a minute for my Bike to come down from 3K to normal idling. Also I don't think its a good idea to run the bike while its idling at 3K.

    Anyone else facing this issue????

    Joel,

Another crazy question on your way....

In Stock condition my R15 did exactly 70Kmph in 5K RPM @ the Final gear. Now after your modds it does 74Kmph precise in 5K RPM @ the Final gear.

My Question is, We did not touch the gearing perspective or the Sprockets then how come its possible????

Last week I took my bike for adding an xtra R15 stock horn with a Relay and now the Horn has come to life. The catch here is I took my bike to PUDUPET (A Place in Chennai where all Bike modds are done) for replacing the horn. Every tuner over there were amazed with your work. They were literally baffled with the Big bore and ECU. Even the Simota Air Filter is something they haven't laid eyes on. I have given your contact email to everyone.

Their modded R15s looked like aliens, where my bike showed no signs on any modifications. It looks, feels and smells exactly like a stock R15.
All these years they were just modding R15's Exhaust and Engine tit bits to get the so called 'performance' and after testing my Bike they said I am a "genius".

All credit goes to "you" and Wish you all success in your way.

One other thing the Side fairing plastic that I requested you, is no longer available with any dealership in India as of 4th April. All we have is the new graphics, I don't like the new graphics coz it looks like an old Blue R15 without its Mustache :-)

Finally after days of fighting with Yamaha India, they have promised to send me out 2 sets (Left and Right) of Old graphics and they also intimated me that this would be the last time they supply it. :-(

At last, I would be happy if there was any alternate way to reduce the time taken to come down to normal idling during a cold start, coz last time I calculated the exact time and it was idling at 3K for 101secs(Were my bike is ready for a 0-100kph sprint in less than 10secs... :-( ).

    • ^Harish - The idle for coldstart was deliberately added. Serves engines which have to climb altitudes and across various regions of the country. There is NO harm as you predict. Its a mere idle and you can ride after 30 secs if you need and NOTHING to be concerned about. Just a rise in engine temp and the idle will settle. Is there a worry over this? I fail to understand why an optional feature is a concern.
Someone called me the other day and asked why the malfunction lights are blinking (he even took to a yamaha dealer to diagnose and the dealer said the ECU was fake..lol) - despite me explaining that its a shift light! I guess we should revert to some bare basic setups. Our country is not yet ready to handle upgrades I guess..lol

Well listening and hearing are to different things, it's a widespread problem! Seeing and vision is another story, I have a theory that around 80% of road users actually remove their eyeballs, when they take to the road, maybe to increase mileage?

@ Harish, if you are disliking the ECU, I am willing to take it off your hands, for a reasonable 'used' price Enjoy! Joel knows what he's doing.
Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

For piston engine aircrafts (for that matter even of turbo props and jet engines), it is a strict operating procedure that the engine and engine oil needs to reach a given temperature before it can move even an inch... depending upon various factors, the aircraft may need to warm from anywhere between 5 minutes to 15 minutes.

Some people may say what a waste of fuel , but think about it, you are taking off and are at 80% power; without proper and correct warm up of the engine and engine oil, it is very likely that there will be a shear in the oil film leading to contact between moving metal parts... I leave what happens next to your imagination ...

Why are people so impatient that they cannot even wait for even 30 seconds... surely proper warm up of engine leads to better reliability and longevity of the engine...

              • Guys,

I just wanted to know if there was a alternate instead of waiting for about a minute. (Which is completely new to me after 8yrs of biking). I have to say I enjoy every ride and I thank Joel for it.

I got this issue resolved by a work around.

I fitted a standalone Remote Self Starter from Lumax without any funny alarm or beeper. My garage is just a few yards adjacent to my Living room, I just point out the Remote key fab through the window and start the bike just before I wear my shoes and its all perfect now.

I can even do it whenever I get time during morning hours, coz the good news is the Remote key fab has a Engine kill switch too.

And I love doing this, last time when I remotely started my bike, a couple who were leaning in my bike and doing romance, ran away out of fear like wet kittens.

I hope all electricals for R15 is supplied by Lumax, and the store guy told me this Remote starter is designed particularly for R15 and FZ series and it perfectly fits my bike without messing up any wires. So Guys you can also try checking this out, its really cool as its only purpose is to start and stop the bike and no ridiculous alarms or beepers.

                Joel,

I apologize if I have repeatedly asked you the same question even after you answering it. I was just worried if it may ruin my bikes health as I told you earlier I have some sentimental attachment towards my bike and it makes me do so.

I am all set now , I will get back to you if I do have any issues.

By the way... you haven't responded to my "crazy question" from my last post???

                • @harish - There is absolutely no change to the gearing. What could have mattered is your front wheel air pressure. Low air pressure will lead to excess speedo error.
well, my friend, all the aspects of performance and reliability has been handled well and there is no need for you to rack over anything. Enjoy your ride and do update us on how it all goes. Ride safe!

For how much did you buy the Remote starter thing for..
                    and to others..
do you think that this kind of thing is good, i mean, will it harm the bike or wont ..??

                    • The cost was around 550 bucks, including fitting it. Its made by Lumax and the package shows its designed for R15 and FZ series. They have also given instruction on how and where to fit it.

Today I tried to push my bike to its limits and to my surprise as I have done about a 1000km runin, I feel like someone is pushing me from behind at around 100Kph @ 4th gear.

I would say the thrill at 140kph is much better than the stock R15 or rather any bike in its class. Coz I still feel the bike could do more and I sit upright.

Can you throw some light on this please and

If you feel this any good to me, please let me know the additional cost involved. I will transfer it to you before hand.
