I've got the Race Concepts ECU and it's totally worth it. It's a very crucial part of my setup now, without which the bike is incomplete.

I will redo my thread soon and clear of all the clatter, making it more concise and readable.

    • Joel,

Now I understood the real work under the word "Tuning". Gone those days, when Tuners had to play with grease and hammer, while you get the work done in your laptop. (This seems institutionalized :-) )

Give my regards to Mani he has done a flawless job in replacing the bore within an Hour.

After the bore/ecu replacement, I get the WOW feeling right from 1K rpm, which I used to get only over 7K rpm before. I had an RD350 few yrs ago and sold it just because of its fuel thirst and Extinct spares.

Ever since, I got everything in other bikes like Fuel efficiency, Easy servicing etc etc , but not the Performance, even my Stock R15 was nowhere closer to the RD. But now I can really say its much better than the RD350, may be the RD has an edge over in terms of power, but the handling characteristics of R15 with your ECU, Bore and Air Filter has made it a complete package which is unbeatable at this price point.

I have a few of questions here,

      1) I hear funny noises from the engine when shifting down from 6th to 5th gear at around 5K rpm. Which I feel, may result due to an unusual Piston vibe or something.

      2) Can you give me an approx value of what would be my bike's current peak power output and at which RPM???

(Hope u remember the combination Ecu+Bore+Air Filter)

      • Joel sir, does the ECU gives an increase in the topspeed of the bike?

        Comment

        • ^Yes it does. Since the bike peaks out earlier.

            Thanks man.
Well, I'd say clock more kms and see how it frees up. Also change to a good engine oil.
next up, the power gains. The bigbore adds nearly a good 2.5bhp, the ECU and filter should grace it further and you should be making a decent 3.5hp more than stock. With improved throttle response and good engine tractability across the rev range.
Glad, you are happy with the bike. Also you could see for yourself the bike spitting extra grunt, just with change in the maps.

            • Hello Joel,

I have a major issue after this upgrade,

As per your advice I never apply throttle when I self-start. The idle Rpm raises upto 3K rpm and immediately idles at 1.3K which is perfect during a normal start.

But during a cold start(The first start after complete engine cool down) the RPM raises upto 3K and stays there for about a minute and then it comes down to 1.3K. Which is certainly annoying. Also I hope this will surely ruin my engine very soon.

I hope the ecu is mapped in order to gain some heat during a cold start or something, but am not sure.

Please help me out with this or It would be great if I could meet you in Chennai, when you are here.

                • So Joel, you have put an auto engine warmer(dont know the proper name). It is seen in the P220 DTS-i and its a great little thing, gets the engine warm without the rider doing anything.

If that is so, then why is that guy so surprised with the automatic raising of RPM. I think this is one of the best small features to be put on a bike and Joel kept it, nice.

Cause the stock ECU doesn't keep the RPM high for longer than 20 seconds.

                        • In this case, based on the temperature variation feed, the ecu will modulate the idle which in no sense is any harm.

                          • I quite like the fact that the ECU warms up the bike before the ride. Quite a nifty little feature during cold starts. Wonder why all the fuss about it.

                              • Just one suggestion for Joel. Just post a pic of the ECU with the wire, then everyone will know how easy it is to install.
