first long term report, and a positive one...Yes the oil consumption becomes low and the engine will also run 10 to 15 C less after 1K Kms with the boric acid..oil will also remain cleaner ..longer..than before.Originally posted by Centaur View PostSS and just came back after getting the oil checked... no need for top up and I guess I can use it for another week tops... after which I'll be changing it for sure

I guess, if my plans for Kerala work out, one more treatment would be in order during the next oil changeOriginally posted by psr View Postfirst long term report, and a positive one...Yes the oil consumption becomes low and the engine will also run 10 to 15 C less after 1K Kms with the boric acid..oil will also remain cleaner ..longer..than before.

I guess ideally, alternate oil changes would be fine... but PSR might be a better source of information.Originally posted by velociraptor13 View PostIs the boric acid treatment a one shot thingy?
Did you try your local pharmacist? Here I got it from there itself... though I haven't yet tried the acetone treatmentOriginally posted by nirvaana View Post@PSR, i am finding it difficult to get acetone/spirit here in chennai. Any place u know of?

If you drive down Anna salai from Anna Flyover towards Saidapet..after Anna Arivalayam, you will see Vanavill Co-optex, Teynampet,......and after that you will see a lane in left turn..Take the left and you will see a big building( Lord Krishna Bank used to be there )..At the basement is a Lab chemical supplier who can give you the required material.Originally posted by nirvaana View Post@PSR, i am finding it difficult to get acetone/spirit here in chennai. As per Argonne Lab finding it is one time treatment, and needs to be repeated only if you open the engine....Originally posted by velociraptor13 View PostIs the boric acid treatment a one shot thingy?
But no harm in adding 5 or 10 gms in subsequent oil changes...I had done it with no ill effects...I add 5 gms for the bike and 10 gms for the car..Both are silky smooth, and feel good to drive...When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Acetone is 180/- for 500ml one year back.why do you need spirit ? you cannot use it as additive anywhere in the bike, may be for cleaning the visor etc.Take care not to spill Acetone on paint,as it dissolves paint.Originally posted by nirvaana View Post@PSR thanks for the reply. Will go there over the weekend.

Velociraptor what works for me may not work for you...so beware and you do the Boric Acid add on AT YOUR RISK...I had used the treatment WITH NEW OIL in Turbo diesel of TATA Indica, Toyota Innova with good result..I used 25gms per liter of engine oil...ALWAYS USE NEW ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER when you are using the mix.....and it should not be changed for the next 1,000Kms for full effect. for bikes it is New engine oil with 20gms per liter of engine oil. Do not use in engine in run in period or bikes which have run less than 10 K Kms.Originally posted by velociraptor13 View PostThanks for the reply.I will be "borifying"

PSR Sir,
As you know,I have already used the solution and am full satishfied with it. Now I will be running on a new bore from tomorrow. Is it advisable to use the solution on a rebored engine with custom piston

DEFINITELY NO...The New bore and piston have run in period of at least 1,000 Kms...and then bore settles down in a finer ,and slower period of say 5 to 10 K Kms. So for the next 10,000 Kms you should not use the Boric Acid treatment as it will stop the bore and rings settling down into a good fit.Originally posted by Only Amit... View PostPSR Sir,

After 10 K Kms you can use it.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.
