Although people have replied to this query numerous times in other threads but let me explain it again.Originally posted by zincha View PostHello everyone,

Is it possible in any way to import YAMAHA R6 to India?
If so what would be the charges - custom duty, tax, invoice, bills?
What other points should be considered regarding registration, insurance?
Details of contact person would be highly appreciated?
He is currently located in Pune, will probably be relocating b the end of this year.
Any info/opinion/criticism/suggestion from your end will be taken with thanks. Cheers!
Importing a new bike that too a sub 800cc in India will be a costly affair, costly enough that you can add few more to that and can get a Indian invoiced litre class.
What I remember the duty to import a new one would be around 144% on top of the market value at the place from you are buying, adding on to it, there would be shipping and freight charges and loads of paper work involving customs people and DRI. Not to forget, insurance would be 3rd party, means you will not be able to claim anything if something happens to the bike. In addition to it, the parts needs to be ordered from other countries as it would be difficult to get OEM parts here.
In short it would cost you around 12-13lacs , where as you can get a liter class out of showroom in 15.5-16lacs. My two cents : wait for few more months, get a Daytona.
Still if you are persistent on getting one imported drop a mail to goforkrp.com

The "R" is not getting launched, regarding launch dates, just want to say "start saving in lump some amounts" *wink wink*Originally posted by 'nYsus' View PostHey guys!! I have been following a lot of reviews of the Daytona 675r by MCN and others.... I am pretty impressed with the bike and over the fact that it is going to be released in India sometime soon (as if we are living a dream for my generation)...
Anybody knows when these triumphs are launching?? And is the daytona 675r in the lineup?? because the site speaks only about daytona 675. What do the other members think of the bike?
Lets start saving

I have found this excellent article on the 1967 GP motorcycle Honda RC 174 (300cc, 6 cylinder):
Honda RC174 Six Motorcycyle - Motorcyclist Magazine
Do go through the entire article. Its worth it.

I think the concept of power and grip is quite simple for most bikers to understand. A wise biker can go from 150 to 1000 straight and live beyond it. I can give many examples, Rohit Giri being one of them.Originally posted by psych0hans View PostIt's quiet simple, don't try to run before you've learnt to walk... My first bike is a ninja 250r, not because I can't afford to buy a bigger one(moniteraly), but because I can't afford to buy a bigger one, according to my skill level... If you transition from a 150 - 250/400 - 600/1000 I don't see you having any problems... Cheers!!!
The thing is that while riding a smaller bike, you lose grip mostly while panic braking. When using Sbk's, just add that panic acceleration may also cause a loss of grip.
High performance results in tyre being under pressure, at the limits of grip. I remember being pillion to an RD 350, and its MRF Zapper tyres sliding and squealing like an injured dog!
Personally, if I have an Sbk later, I won't take it beyond 10% throttle and 3000 rpm on any surface, except the tarmac. No, not even on cemented roads.

Two questions
1.Is it this easy to lose control on a SBK i mean this could happen to anyone right?
2.Does having Traction control help in avoiding such situations?

And I am thinking to jump to 1200cc from 150cc, straight away !!!Originally posted by Ghost11 View PostAfter seeing this video i feel kinda uncomfortable coz it seems that he just made a small mistake of giving a bit too much throttle and the bike just lost it. Well it is a kind of irresponsible attitude to give the stick to the bike just after coming out of showroom.
One should practice riding the vehicle for atleast 300 kms in every possible situations before going past 4500rpms on this kind of bikes.
Good things come with perseverance and patience.
