Hey all you guys and gals..!! been a long long time ago since I posted here on Xbhp...n for all you guys who dont know me or my bike..im the guy who was running Tectrac Exhaust on my bike...v had a long article posted by Badri here but guess its gone now after the server crash..!! anyways thought il post about the latest developments..I just returned to India after a 10 month stint in the US and decided to go ahead with some of the mods I had been planning on for quite a while now...!! I was already running K&N and Tectrac's exhaust..!! Mr Vivek aka Tectrac was the one who was taking care of the bike...but now since he is not into bikes anymore my bike is being taken care of by none other than Mr Rajkumar himself...just spoke to him a couple days back..!! Infact im yet to meet him in person..!! here's the list of mods thats we have planned or rather is being done as im typing this..

    *200CC conversion,
    *porting and polishing

and a month later will go for reprofiled cams and Iridium plugs...just thought il open this thread here so that I can post about the improvements when the bike is ready..cheers!!

Why not just sell it for a used karizma?

Sweet!! I'll definitely keeping an eye out on this thread, i've been trying to collect as much info on Porting and Polishing as possible make sure you give us explicit reasons as to why you are doing the above said mods, advantages, and make sure you take a ton of photos of how it's being done

Quite frankly, mods on a pulsar is not really worth the sweat. Mark my words, you will realise say 6 months later. The mods that u have planned are already done and we know the results pretty much. Just wait till u get there.

Dude, it's a DTSi Bike .. it heats up quickly. Are you sure you want to convert it to 200?

I advise you to think again ... Heat will be a big problem ...

& Iridium Plugs will even make matters worse .... Problem is same - Heat!

I second the guys on this... forget playing with the engine on a P180... it is already an overbored P150 and heat is a serious problem.

I had the same mods done on my Pulsar 150V1 with the help of Joel and Venu Sir. In fact Santoosh also had the same mods on his bike without porting though. So we can very confidently say what it will do and will NOT do!!!

That head was heavily modified by venu. It had the ports and the works. However the piston was too heavy and many other issues pulled things down.
The pulsars have too many issues to even modify them. The bottom engine cant take much abuse and can act upon when u try anything. Forget anything, the clutch itself cant hold anymore than stock power.
Also the valvetrain on the pulsars have heavy limitations, making them the last option for modifying.
Pulsars are better left stock. They cant take such stints. The engine is too lazy to make it any peppier.
You have all the freedom to try it and see the results.

^^Am not referring to the 242cc. Towards the end of his bike's life, Santa had a 200cc bore on his bike. Cos his re-bored 180cc had started to drink oil like a 2-stroke.
