and guys...finally im reopening this thread...my bike is back after all the run-in...everything is complete...we just worked on the compression which is back to normal...!! the heads been ported to a street level...!! just thought il share my thought about the mod with you guys...!!

The Midrange is ballistic now with the increased displacement and port job..!! acceleration is pretty strong from about 4k rpm all the way upto 7k.....the top end is not very impressive....guess the jetting aint right..guess its running a little too rich at the top....we will be going to the sriperambadur track to jet it up right sometime by the end of jan..!! a new exhaust is being planned to get some more top end grunt..!! lets see how it all goes...!!! wud love to go for a ride with the chennai guys sometime after the 24th of this month...let me know guys..!!

      mods coming up:
      1)reprofiled cams
2)220's crank ( if it matches..just depends on one paramater..fingers crossed)
      3)mid-top end free flow pipe
      4)flatside carb
      5)iridium plugs
6)Forged pistons( quite sometime away though)
      watch this space...!! cheers

PS: I have a tectrac free flow exhaust with me now...it was used on my bike...its a complete system with a tuned length header and a free flow end can...its more of a overall pipe with a good spread of power throughout the range...but mostly noticeable in the midrange..!! let me know if any of you'll are interested...PM me...its pretty new....was on my bike for about a year or so..of which was used for only bout 4 odd months..!! recenctly repacked too..!! cheers

Since you are running rich, it will never over-heat. Its no rocket-science.
FYI, the p220 crank is a direct fit. Let me know how it works. It will be interesting to see it work
It will be even more interesting to see how higher lift cams work on that engine.
          All the best man.

But once you try the crank swap, remember your engine will become a longer stroke motor and you can never make it a revvy screamer. It will be a lazy engine. Very relaxed, but you'll have good low-mid torque. Dont expect any serious power too. Your engine will become 220cc.

true...and thats one of the reasons why im thinking about whether i should go ahead with that mod or not...cos i definitely prefer revvin' the nuts off than crusing around town happily....!! and theres definitely a lot of low-mid torque now....we are trying to get the power higher up in the rev range...wanna see how much we can get her to top!!!

If u wanna get power higher up, dont even think of stroking up anymore. There is a reason why a pulsar will never be a revvy engine. The day you guys make it a screamer, I'll salute you.

                    went through the thread....
                    nice and informative....
                    still some questions
1)can cams from 200 or 220 be used on lower cc pulsars??
                    do they have more lift?
2)what if somebdy wants to use bigger valves(say 2mm),can the existing valve seats can be scrubbed to fit em? or we need to use bigger seats?

@ joel : we'l do our best to make it screamer..n to make you salute..!! lol...n yeah guess i was wrong when i said the bike was running rich...contrary to my beliefs it was actally running lean......!! so im pretty happy with the heat issue..or rather the lack of it!!.

@insane: why would someone want to use a bigger valve..?? just curious..??

a high lift cam surely makes a machine breath better as it alters the timing period for both in and exhaust._more time=more airflow,
bigger valves on the other hand allow more air flow for same time period then stock ones._bigger dia=more airflow..
if somebody uses both may be results will be bit different
but i personally thought that pulsars cant be tuned for more high rev performance, all the pulsars use two valves in engine, this kinda setup gives more grunt at low and mid revs, however three or four valves can manage high rev performance if you can manage ,
whole range of pulsars uses the same cdi(all have same curve, all cut at 10500 apr),
bajaj is losing at technology too....
                        its time to wakeup bajaj......

                          P200 Piston Kit In P180?

hey guys i've a '07 pulsar 180 done 36000+ km and the bike doesnt feel like as it used to. its acceleration & top speed have dropped severely. my mechanic told me that the piston needs replacement....so i was thinking whether i could use a pulsar 200 piston kit in my bike please suggest

yes, you can. Either you will have to bore the cylinder and put in the p200 piston, else you will have to put in the p200 cylinder piston kit. But there might be difference in certain other minute components. experts pl comment.
btw, piston kaput so soon? How many kms done?

Ah maybe that the reason...i dont know..but yes the best bet would be to buy a full P200 bore kit...should set you back by around 2..5 to 3k...get is set up on ur bike by a reliable mech...run it in on a relatively low compression...bump up the compression once the run in is complete... my 0.2$!! cheers man!!
