hERE S mY entry into BIG bore :-D

Iv had a 74mm bore on my bike , making it a 242.5 cc.
and none of ur story holds good,
the bike becomes a crazy torque bike , pulls from stand still in 5th gear , that much torque , but no acceleration . Can go fast, but wont rev out .

And the vibes are much more than stock.
And the con-rod starts expanding due to the wt of the piston.

U definitely can make the V1 smoke many bikes , But it ll lose out on handling anyday to any bike.
I love my V1 , used it for 1.4L kms , not a joke .The V1 has power no doubt , but never as relxed as zma/220 to smoke it.
V1 just has amazing top end on stock.

V1 weighs 139kgs and the Power made by it is good , but the losses are far more compared to zma or so.
Its as good as u are modding bike heavily to get that extra power , but still losing out on heavy frictional losses in the engine , and the parts used are super heavy .

lets Keep this thread for his mods and not whether it could smoke a zma / xyz before he's got his bike set up.

@Hanx - Looks like ur friend was running a big bore only then. if its the standard cc set-up, those figures are not possible. Also pls post the dyno results here.
You guys have access to better engines and bikes there. Do the same on a Raider/T135/Vixion/CBR and it will fly. No point in wasting time with a pulsar.

Well thats not right. The handling of the pulsar is bad coz of the frame/suspension/cycle parts.
Well going by ur logic, SBKs and naked bikes have tons of torque..how do they handle?
Ride a CBR150R and u'll know what handling is.

I had the original Pulsar 200's bore+piston kit in my bike. Even then not much of an improvement in top-end, just marginal. All that power was concentrated in the low - end and mid range. Nothing more. And yes, it used to rev all the way till cut - off rpm. Of course by then, it would dance like Elvis, not belly - dance.

They handle better than their ancestors (Though nowhere near to R15), Have lots of vibrations and reliabilty issues sorted out and are more powerfull.

Trust me guys, the ug3's are really sorted out pulsar's. I'm telling this because, I've ridden both extensively and Ug3's have really really really come a long way from V1's
Maybe, but once u have tasted the Pulsar's lack of handling, refinement and their problems, and had a small test ride on another bike which is superior in all these things compared to the Pulsar, I for one will not approach a BAJAJ again. This is from a person who loved his Pulsar more than anything else(still) and did not want to change even though I was having back-aches due to the bent chassis.

@Aparajith : Im getting my bike tomorrow early in the morning man..just cant wait any longer..lolz

and the quality niggles about the pulsar 180V1...guys Ive had this V1 for four years now and was one of the first ones to take delivery of the bikes...i have not faced any major problem with the bike..infact it wouldnt be wrong if i said i have'nt faced any prob at all...and on top of all that the bike has been modded..may be I didnt have the issues because it was taken care of by Vivek...but as an owner ive loved it till now and im sure its going to be the same for the time to come...!!

@Joel: hey there bud...let not really take it all out on the pulsars bud..yes it's probably not as good as the newer bikes but lets give it the credit it deserves...yes im growing tried of all Bajaj trying to sell the pulsars without much uprgrades now but a few year back they did it all to revive or rather start the ailing performance segment..when the so called big guns like Yamaha,TVS and Hero Honda were not even thinking of this segment...when they all had the so called technical expertise to build better bikes no one came out with one and that is the fact...!! so lets just leave it there...cheers!!

and now we all are interested in pointing our fingers at bajaj and saying that they are not improving their bikes...but we are forgetting some other things like Hero Honda not having given the Karizma any upgrades or Honda any upgrade of the Unicorn except for alloy wheels maybe..each company is doing something wrong and so I'd really appreciate it if we people stay unbiased...ive seen this thread take on a very anti bajaj outlook to it ..!!lets stop that guys!!

@Aparajith: lets meet up sometime man...that way il get to see the R15 in flesh...yet to see one up close and personal.

Guys, keep the discussion to the topic. A lot of the posts are worthy of deletion even though it was quite informative. Especially some by Joel. But let's not use this thread for that line of discussion.

And guys..the bike is finally with me now..!! There definitely is a marked improvement in torque..the difference is very evident in higher gears and low speeds...can't really tell a lot other than this because i got to run bike in before i can really gun it...so gotta wait a couple more days before that happens...but im sure its going to be fun and im expecting quite a surprise ....
