Did you ever consider accessing this info from somewhere which is not a outdated, 3 year old blog? Maybe somewhere more authentic? Something like this : Indian Gasoline Specification by Auto Industry in India.Originally posted by unsafe_pilot1 View Post
Allow me to help out. It looks something like this.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

i think speed has two versions.... as speed with 92 and speed97 with 97 octane...Originally posted by unsafe_pilot1 View PostWhat is the compression ratio of the engine ?
Because if it is same as KTM Duke 200 then we would have to bother about the fuel type being 95 octane.
95 octane is not available in India.
87 octane is the regular fuel that is available right now.
xtra Premium is 92 octane.
speed is 97 octane.
Any idea what is the compression ratio of the engine ?
cetane number is for diesel.... and octane is for petrolOriginally posted by raja_roadster View PostSo the R15 with compression ratio 10.4:1 does it mean its not advisable to use ordinary petrol
btw that whats the cetane number of different premium fuel available
i think above quote by unsafe_pilot1 would help you......Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'i'm possible'! -Audrey Hepburn

But i want to know the compression ratio of Pulsar 200 ns and which fuel is best suited for this bike ?
Also one look at the technical specs confirms that it is a highly stressed engine (23.5 bhp from a 200cc engine and THREE spark plugs!!) and due to this the ELF (Engine Life Factor = 100,000 divided by compression ratio x max rpm) of the NS would be much lesser than, say the Karizma's (17 bhp from a 223 cc motor). Any engine that has been squeezed to within an inch of it's life in order to extract maximum performance out of it shall not last as long as a low revving, relaxed engine (Q. Why do we see 40 year old Bullets still merrily thumping along? A. 18 bhp @ 5625 rpm from a 350cc block). But let's see what modern technology with ultra close engine tolerances does for the NS.

I certainly differ from your thought. Theoretically yes the ELF factor is correct, But practically lets take the RX100/R15 for instance, They have one of the most stressed engine in Smaller capacity bikes, yet they prove to be much reliable.Originally posted by unsafe_pilot1 View PostThanks for the info.

Also If I am not wrong, OEM will provide the value for Static Compression Ratio only. Its the Dynamic Compression which takes the final toll on the Fuel grade being used.Last edited by HarishK; 02-04-2012, 02:09 AM.

Compression should be same as the Duke as the bore diameter and stroke are identical.Originally posted by unsafe_pilot1 View PostThanks for the info.

I may be wrong here.

Even if KTM developed this whole bike for bajaj , bajaj should still be proud. after all dont bajaj owns like 40% share of KTM ?
anyway i really wish bajaj refreshes all pulsar in lineup. if nothing else , p150 & p180 could really use that perimeter frame and some styling cues .

But this one's really good.
