Joel Josephthat one ride is the reason behind setting up this thread. And finally on 27th march, 2012 I took the plunge.

After the ride, i spoke to Joel about the upgrades and over a period of one month I got the following installed:

    1. Free flow exhaust
    2. Simota air filter (conical)
    3. Big bore
    4. Head work
    5. High lift racing camshaft
    6. Racing clutch springs

    Free Flow Exhaust
No words can describe this piece of art. One thing kept in mind from its inception to the final production.

    1. 2. db killer has to be off to achieve the max gains. Simota air filter ( conical )Big bore ( 180cc kit)
It is a light semi forged piston made in Japan meeting the requirements specified by Joel himself. It is specially customized for the fz16. Though there is a bump in the compression ratio to around 10 (not sure of the exact figure), regular unleaded fuel can still be used with no problems at all. This piston is not available anywhere nor it is something that has been around since it is specially customized by Joel.

    Head work
This is done to increase the flow and efficiency of the fuel to the engine. The bike revs a lot more freely, it is recommended for those who opt for the big bore. One experiences a good throttle response throughout.

High lift racing Camshaft Racing clutch springs
This increases the feel while actuating the clutch, the clutch lever is a little bit firmer and gives you a positive feedback, I cant describe the feeling. One has to ride the bike to get an actual feeling once installed. The gear shifts have improved too.

I hope I have described the above upgrades to the best of my knowledge so that the members might get an idea as to what they might wanna go in for. None the less, Joel is the best man who can give you a complete heads up as to how each upgrade makes a diff.
There a slew of upgrades that I might go in for in the future, but for now am having a hell of a time on my BEAST

    RIDING EXPERIENCE

    1. The bike has a completely different characteristic. Calling it a beast now would be an understatement.
    2. The exhaust note is a lot more bassy.
    3. Power dlivery is linear and strong throughout the rev range.
    4. Once you cross 5k, the bike wants to break free of all shackles and redlines in no time at all. One might wonder if ur riding a short stroke bike.
    5.
    Reliability

    LOUD.

    Fuel efficiency

42kmpl. Post run in I started revving the bike gradually (am still not belting), I achieved a F.E figure of 44kmpl. The best I managed on a single run was 47kmpl37kmpl with my regular riding style while all I could max out was 28kmpl on stock bike.

    Top speed

    1. Post run in I drained all the mineral oil, replaced the oil filter and filled it with motul fs 15w50. Odometer: 800km, hit an empty stretch and slowly started riding to sweep for any interceptors and obstacles (happens only in India). Once the preliminary checks were done, I went flat out and hit a top wack of 120kmph.
    2. Odo reading: 997km
The same stretch, I go flat out and hit 124kmph.
    3. Odo reading: 1179
The same stretch again, flat out to hit 128kmph.

Thanks a lot Joel. God bless you.

    Cheers.

how much high lift cam shaft and clutch springs costs. As more AF mixture enters it will be certainly effect FE, so how much are you getting? Is the clutch spring add-ons to stock clutch plates?

For price of all upgrades please contact Joel.
        It's on stock clutch plates.
I have elaborated on the F.E in my review.

It's not about top speed. The top speed will remain more or less the same since the gearing is stock. It's about how quickly it can reach the top speed. Put this bike besides your friend's bike and it will move 4 to 5 bike lengths ahead of your friend's bike before you even know what hit you. Read carefully and understand what has been done before making adhoc and irrelevant comments. Everything is not about top speed.

I would think, the thread starter wanted the set up for the track, since he'd mentioned about the quickness even though top speed might look marginal.

Really? Why don't you try racing your friends stock FZ with this one? The Joeled FZ will show dust to it and then it will dissapear on the Joeled FZ's rear view mirrors...if you know what I mean.

Dear Prem Kumar: It's for members like you that I have emphasized the manner in which speeds were achieved when compared to a stock bike very clearly in the paragraph just after the top speed runs. It's a request that you read the review thoroughly.

Talking of Yamaha's quality. It has done an excellent job catering to the masses by bringing out the fz16 and r15. Make no mistake, both the bikes are leaders in their respective segments, but Yamaha's quality control is at best disappointing. In your case you have touched these speeds (it takes it's devil's own time to get there), whereas the max I could max out was 110kmph and a disappointing average of 28kmpl, and to top it my piston had started consuming oil with the odo reading of just 6k. Both of us have shelled out the same money, isn't it? So why is it that your friend gets his bike to perform better while mine sucks. This is where Yamaha and even Honda should get their act together, Period!!!

I am asking an OT question and sorry for that but no matter where I post this question it will always be OT and the question is such that it does not warrant its own thread. And the question is this:

How the hell do you guys post into xbhp using tapatalk from your phones?

I keep seeing posts by people saying sent from tapatalk and all but when I went to the android market, I saw that the damn app costs more than Rs150! Did you guys really buy it or is there a free version about which I am unaware of? Cause on my phone the website on the browser looks & works just about perfect and I dont know why would anyone spent 150 bucks on an app when the website works just fine!
