    Duke owners please don't forget, it's Bajaj which has bought KTM to Indian shores, and made it so affordable.

    No denying the fact, the KTM is better than a P200NS, even with a single spark plug. It's all about economies of scale. Bajaj puts SOHC VS DOHC to cut costs, so puts 3 spark plug to slightly offset the performance hit and still keeps the cost affordable for an average joe.

    I believe, 200 NS is more efficient but only because of taller gearing, while compromising on the neck jerking acceleration offered by the Duke.

    All Duke and 200NS owners should be competing with other manufacturers than bashing each other!
    Any one think we can get better torque,if shorter gearing is installed?Will make more justice to street fighter nature of NS.

    Well I am all for this mandate. But not everyone in India is mature enough to pay extra for this tech. Majority of the people need their 'cheaper option'. But my only point was, if it does a *satisfactory* job, its good enough IMO.

    As a NS owner her i will try to put a Unbiased view.
    Have ridden both P220 with dual spark plug, and my NS with a set of triplets!!

    When u ride the bike at whatever speeds, one can never feel if the third pulg is actively working or not, however for the NS specifically there is a slight brust of power at over 7K range. but i don't think it has anything to do with the third plug.

    However, bajaj never claimed it will add in performance, but will help in better burning of fuel, and there by adding in the efficiency.
    and this i can surely say that mileage figures of the NS are quite stunning.!! (comparing to other bikes with a 200cc heart and having 23.5 bhp of power)
    although a few are getting as low as 25-30kmpl, but a majority of them are getting 40-50kmpl. (I am getting 45kmpl )

    and i can vouch that a very few of them (one of them being my friend) have got 65+kmpl for some stretches on the highway!!!!!!!!!!!

    SO if one compares the mileage figures with other similar mills having similar power band, it can certainly be told that the 3rd spark plug is not JUST A MARKETING GIMMICK!!

    Even Honda has dual spark in it's car engines ,and Duke is also following the same....No point in comparing with Fi since they both are dissimilar .
    About the bit in bold, I am not inter-comparing. I was talking in isolation.

    But can we compare 'triple-spark + carb + sohc' vs 'single-spark + FI + DOHC' as systems? Both of them do the exact same things (feed fuel, control valves, burn charge) . But thats not the point of this thread so please do not indulge in this discussion. It has already been discussed elsewhere.

    from what I had learned of the DTSi sequence, only one spark plug sparks for the entire RPM range while the second one works for a limited RPM range....Bajaj use more than one spark plug for the purpose of reducing Emission, and the delayed specific RPM use of a second spark plug is innovative. I believe the Three spark system is also something similar...

    Once again... are you sure? Both are cylindrical in shape and have a hemispherical head at one end.

    Leaving the OT behind, the entire point was, triple spark tech is cheap and low tech (like a simple wooden pencil). FI is not low tech (hence compared with an Astronaut's pen). Can we all agree at least to this bit?

    Plugs and sparks are a bit like dicks. Id rather have one big one with a solid Punch. Then 3 small ones with weak punches.

    Hey Guys, My 1st post here, with sheer enthusiasm...
    The current topic is rather interesting, about the number plates, but I guess we all have to bear it here cuz of the rules & regulations. Though I believe too that some opts to the owner of how to have it on his/her bike would've been much better.
    Coming to the bikes, I have yet to upgrade from my LS & have pretty much made up my mind on the Duke 200
    Though I was looking at the price & mileage preference at 1st for certain reasons, Duke flushed it all outta me in all the few test runs I've had . I am actually a fan of the fully fair sports bikes, but I will be involved in city riding most of the time, so I guess agility matters. & Duke offers more than just that. Not denying the capabilities of NS either, but there's this thing ( I hope u get what I'm trying to relate here :P ) about the Duke. Plus I have really grown over the Indian Manufactured bikes & wanna get on to the next level with the European hearts as of now

    This thread seems to have degenerated a lot in recent pages. and 39 kmpl at 120+ on a duke sounds slightly suspect to me. I did a few high speed runs in bangalore and 120+ was unbearable due to the wind blast. The fuel bars disappeared rather quicker than what has been suggested above.
