Its quite funny all the attendants are deaf in fuel stations. The last time also he just filled 100 when I said 500 very clearly. After filling 100 he stopped. I stepped aside of the bike and asked him to call the manager. I yelled at them that why they always pretend to be deaf. I gave a warning to him that I will complain to BP if you continue to do that.

This happened to me once in a HP bunk. But to my bad, I got cheated. Felt very bad of myself when I realised it later. I couldn't do anything as I hadn't got a receipt at that time.Originally posted by pulsaterIf someone from the other side comes talking, tell him to stop and wait till you get the full fuel. all this without even looking at the distractor.
But from then on, I ensure that my eyes remain fixed on the meter whenever I fill petrol and also that I get a printed bill.

Happened again yesterday. I told the attendant to fill petrol worth 500 bucks. One asked me "Sir, pakka 500 ka? bike me aaega na" .
No dude i want the petrol to overflow. another one comes up from right side and says 500 ka?? i just put my finger to lips to indicate it'd be awesome if you shut your mouth."
sir normal ya speed " normal..yaha toh speed likha bhi nahi hai"
sir PUC nikal lo " no response from me
this didn't end here.. the first started fiddling with the petrol tank lid. gave him a serious killer look. withdraws the hand fills the petrol. and then later I ask the second person. yes what were you talking bout. He said Sir PUC nikal lo. got down from my bike, clamly flashed the PUC and told him that from next time after I fill the fuel ask me bout all such stuff not during filling it up. got it.
Keep Calm and Kaam se Kaam

thats adarsh service station -- proudly automated & one of my very first sitesOriginally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostI have always heard these horror stories about bad fuel stations. Luckily for me that has not been the case for quite a few years now. I almost always use the Bharat Petroleum pump at Vile Parle East, Mumbai.
The interesting thing about this pump has is that it is run by an old lady who has very strong business ethics. She runs a very tight ship and is acknowledged by Bharat Petroleum as one of their best fuel stations (confirmed by my neighbor who works for Bharat Petroleum). She sells an incredible 24,000 liters of fuel every 24 hours and is considered as one of the highest fuel seller for the company. She receives 2 tanker loads of fuel a day directly from the Chembur refinery.
Since she receives the fuel from the refinery directly and the sheer volume of fuel that is being sold is so big, it very very unlikely that fuel quality would be bad or adulterated. In addition to that, she has trained her staff to be polite and efficient. Never heard anyone complaint about receiving short quantity.
Edit:note to thread starter :the manager who mailed you is also a friend of mine & a nice fellow. He is sure to help you out if you can provide the time stamp & the fuelling position details.Last edited by darkknight; 08-30-2012, 06:06 PM.sigpic

You have information much more than this as hinted by Eshaan. Be kind Sir and share with us what you know.Originally posted by darkknight View Postthats adarsh service station -- proudly automated & one of my very first sites

Edit: Before filling the fuel I had clicked a couple of photos of my bike inside the bunk. I now have the 'time' as well. Going to discuss with Mr Kirik Nayak today.__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _______

There is a similar thread on t-bhp regarding the unethical practices of attendants at gas stations. I was wondering why someone hasn't come up with something like this on xbhp. So here it is
Some of the things which I am aware of is:
1. You ask to fill petrol for xxx amount while another person tries to distract You, the attendant stops at some point lesser than the amount which You said and waits for You to repeat the amount. The guy starts filling again without resetting the meter. So You get less petrol than what You pay.
2. While filling the guy doesn't take his hands off the nozzle by engaging the stopper, instead he keeps pumping it.
3. While doing a full tank, when the level of the petrol in the tank reaches the tip of the nozzle it stops and the guy takes the nozzle out and starts filling again till it reaches the brim or till You tell him to stop. During the start and stop process there is a possibility that one might get less quantity of petrol.
I am just wondering how exactly to fill it till the brim without having an interruption?
PS: The BPCL adjacent to the trident near the airport is my favourite, haven't had any bad experience with them. This is one of the petrol bunks in chennai where 97 speed is available.Last edited by Ri$hi; 08-30-2012, 06:32 PM.

i do not understand, how you will get lesser petrol by doing this ^^

again i couldn't understand.

this seems to be a normal process. there is no other way.

Princesirohi, Suppose you asked the attendant to fill fuel for 500 rupees, and he fills only for 100, and when you point him that you want 500 rupees, this is where they do the trick. Other attendant generally tries to engage you by saying sorry etc, and when you take off your eye, he just starts filling the fuel without resetting, and fills till 400 rupees. He says he filled 100 earlier and now 400, so its comes to 500. But, because he did not reset the meter to zero after filling for 100, you lost 100 rupees fuel.Originally posted by Ri$hi View Post

The Dirty Game & The Best Way To Play It.
Still wondering what happened? You ask for 500 bucks refill.
The attendant presses some keys.
Pipes the nozzles into the tank.
You check for 0.
The count begins from 0....he stop when it reaches 100.
Looks at you. Waiting.
You yell saying 500.
He says sorry. Turns back. Press 400. Pipes it down and fills 0 to 400.
During that 0 to 100 refill no petrol went in. Not a drop. None at all. The meter was merely caliberating the amount of fuel left in stock.
If you check the automation records there will be NO hundred bucks refill during the time you went it. Just the 400 wouldav been recorded cuz thats all that wouldav been filled.
Dont be a victim. Keep reading.Goodluck!Last edited by ABikerAtHeart; 08-30-2012, 09:43 PM.__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _______

Not necessary to ask them to fill for Rs 500;Originally posted by ABikerAtHeart View PostDuring that 0 to 100...thats all that wouldav been filled
Once my colleague asked to fill Innova to brim; attendant tried his mischief without knowing the capacity of Innova; call it his bad luck, the final meter showed 57 litre.
Going by the appearance of my colleague he thought he was a gentleman who doesn't know anything on auto; cutting the long story short, my colleague was asked to make a payment that he thought was legitimate after the attendant was caught red handed & for name sake (or so) the attendant was asked to leave the premise right in front of him.
So crooks are there everywhere; one has to remain vigilant & know about their limits of their vehicle without which these blood suckers are even ready to steal your underwear!!!Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

@Aargee Sir: I forgot to mention I guess. The guy whom I learnt this from owned a P220. He used to fill for not 500 but 100 everytime. According to him,
they cheated him with even 100 bucks of refill.
Story is when asking for 100 instead of 500, the meter would be stopped at 30 or 35 instead of 100.
Bottomline: No matter what amount you fill they just want to loot you with whatever amount possible.Last edited by ABikerAtHeart; 08-30-2012, 10:12 PM.__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _______

I don't understand why you want to blame someone for your mistakes! Why are people here talking about how you get cheated than how to prevent it?
Seldom I have observed, a few pump attendants do try to do a quick buck this way, and surely get caught. Have you ever given it a thought that most bunk attendants work extended hours and do two jobs to fill their family needs. They keep filling fuel in a lot of vehicles repeatedly setting the meter and amount. The swipe the radio tags and set amount and reset it, sometimes it just doesnt happen. That's when you have to be alert!
Ask a bank teller how he feels, sitting there and counting money, sometimes people con and he will only come to know at end of day when few notes are short. He get a bad remark on his work or if its a huge difference loses the job and even has to fill that in. Humans are not machines and for repeated jobs once in a while such error does occur. So stop blaming a hard working man coz you were lazy!
You just go to fill fuel to the bunk once, you are impatient to even stand in a queue of few vehicles. Now rather than blaming them for you not being attentive or doing your job. You make sure he does his job right for you. See to it that he sets the amount as well as resets the pump to zero before he fills fuel. Its as simple as that! Even after that if you feel you were cheated, bring it to notice of the authority right away. Call the Bunk Manager and mention the incident so that other people dont get cheated and the cheating employee gets fired, rather than you scolding him and making a run.
My mantra is : Wait till the pump/amount both are set to zero, mention its a card payment, tell them I dont want a oil change or any special offers (many a times bunks dont accept cards). Once I am sure he /she has compiled to these. I open fuel cap for him/her to fill the fuel.Last edited by prajnyan; 08-30-2012, 11:58 PM.There are no short-cuts to any place worth going.
