I have gone thorough some scary thing, from last few days my bike was missing revv, sometime even it halt in the middle of the road and rpm dosent goes beyond 2k, this started slowly from last 2 week and thing getting increased day by day.. Yesterday i went to showroom for servicing my P150, the service guy told me that it there is a water in fuel tank and told me that it requires cleaning, and after 3-4 hours when i reached to service center for take my bike, he told showed me around 1-1.3 litres of orange color water and told me this was in your tank ... i was shocked with this, he told me that this water didnt entered from the tank lock, it is some petrol pump which had mixed water with petrol.

I am actually no sure which petrol pump it was, because i remember 3 petrol station in which last i fueled up the tank..

Thanks a ton for sharing your experience buddy. So it is good to choose one reputed bunk and fill the fuel only there. Filling fuel in small quantities will lead to frequent visits to different bunks.

Never had a problem. And more over I am huge in size which also helps. In fact once I hand over the money the attendant confirms the amount and this makes things easier.

Get some Methylated Spirits and pour it directly into the tank.
This will attach/attract itself to water allowing it to be burnt up in the combustion chamber.
Not sure if it would have worked for that ratio of water:fuel however it is good to do every few months.

Interesting observations and pointers here. Any time I fill petrol on my bike, it's always tank full. Not because of this issue but since I like keeping a very close tab on the fuel efficiency I manage. Always have an eye on the meter too except during topping up when I alternate between the tank and th meter quick. Now after reading the thread I realised another advantage of my practice. However I seldom follow tank fill procedure in my car. Don't know how many times I ve been duped.
                  Its not always about speed.

For me, I go for Shell petrol bunk and here we get good quality and quantity of fuel. Does a tankful which lasts for a month and pays Rs.7/- per liter extra which comes to Rs.84/- extra amount per month, but gets pure satisfaction. In fact, I have noticed 1.5kmpl extra mileage filling Shell fuel.

For finding good bunk, you have to observe where there are crowded people and sometimes ask some people in your area as which is the best bunk. In Bangalore, I have seen good bunks such as BP opposite to Lalbagh west gate and the one BP next to Imperial in residency road and another opposite to Cricket Stadium who has McDonald outlet.

For 10 litres, Rs 70 additional; don't you feel this is same as divert & day rob technique at few PSU fuel stations? Just that there's no diversion here.

Wouldn't it be much easier to find a good PSU fuel station in your locality instead?

No, at present, Shell petrol is Rs.7/- per liter extra because of raising international crude. The price will be fluctuating, last month the price was Rs.1.7/- cheaper than PSU pumps. Shell is private company are they are not shielded for price raise in international crude, but PSUs get subsidy from Government for any raise in international market.

Shell buy petrol from Mangalore refineries and transport fuel by thier own sealed tankers and while filling the underground tank in shell outlet, care is taken not to mix anything and shell pumps has survelience cameras. Then the sample fuel is tested for every fills through video camera.

Hence, currently, I pay more by Rs.7/- per liter, for a month I need 12-14liter and hence pay Rs.84/- to 98/- more per month. But I get unmixed petrol and the correct quantity of petrol. In most if the PSU bunks, we donot get exact 1 liter quantity. Also my bike's engine will be happy not getting adultrated fuel and the mileage is more by1.5kmpl. (as per my comparision done twice) When International Crude price decreases, the price in shell also decreases. So Shell is my choice.

Re: [Caution]: Your petrol bunk maybe cheating you.

I was cheated at petrol station besides J C Nagar Police station (Bangalore) once and almost cheated another time at same station.
I am not big fan of fuel stations of PSU companies. I always use Shell petrol for my bike refilled from Hosur Road station.
But on both these time I was in urgent need of fuel.

                            INCIDENT 1 - Cheated:
Asked attendant to fill with 500 rupees petrol. He didn't reset the meter already at 200.
Before I say anything, he quickly inserted the nozzle and started filling and after reaching 500 he said its done.
I argued with him but other people behind me in queuestarted making noise so had no option other than to leave.

INCIDENT 2 - Almost Cheated: At the same station again. I asked attendant to fill with 200 rupees.
When attendant was doing the reset at the same time other attendant came from behind and asked for money. I didn't looked at him and kept watching the meter.
Now first guy reset the meter to 0 and started filling. As soon as meter reaches 100 he removed the nozzle and
pretended like something is wrong with the machine. He opened the panel of machine and closed it.
He did it once more and then said its done.... LOL....
I said "Sirf 100 ka daala... baaki 100 ka kon dalega...", He said "Sir 100 ka pehle daala..".
I felt like I am biggest fool of the universe and don't event know the counting.
I asked him to give the printed receipt. He said printer is not working. I put my bike at center stand in-front of machine only and asked him to call his manager.
After 5 min of argument the cashier guy from behind said him to fill with 100 rupees more.
I paid and left and promised myself that I will never see any Indian PSU fuel station again.

Sometime ago in my hometown (Bhiwandi, Thane... near Mumbai) all PSU stations refused to give fuel in bottles. There explanation was totally idiotic.
They said people use loose petrol to commit suicides. Ha..Ha..Ha.. But main reason was, pouring petrol in bottles (like Pepsi bottles) were exposing there cheating.
There was a clear visible difference between poured amount and meter reading, so many people started screwing them.

This is a typical Indian gov machinery. No matter how much attention we pay, they will find the thousands of way to cheat.
So better keep way from them.
I always use same Shell station and satisfied with them. At Shell, attendants themselves ask customers to pay attention on meter and they always issue printer receipt no matter you want it or not. Also fuel is pure and not adulterated.

I heard that some PSU stations which are "Company owned and Company run" are also honest. But never tried there.

Same here in Pune bro. Got swindled at an Indian Oil pump, realized later. Switched to HP and recently felt something amiss. Now its Shell, only Shell.

Better fill in Pepsi cola bottles. If they refuse call manager. Hungama Nahi karega toh koi kuch nahi bolega. Put the bike on Centre stand and shout ye log 500 ka jagah 400 ka tel dera. Police ko call karo. 4 people will come if not 10
