I guess you are talking about the Hinjewadi Shell petrol pump. Even I fill from there only! Once while returning, when the shell pump is on the opposite side of the road, I did the mistake of filling in the Indian Oil bunk. Same trick of filling 100 first and then 400 was deployed. It happened too fast, but before leaving I realized it. Took my bike (KTM Duke) back, and gravely told the guy 'Aapne sirf 400 ka petrol bhara hai, My bike has an imported fuel guage that clearly shows how much petrol is filled. And it's showing 100 bucks less than 500!'.

Fir kya! Guy went bonkers and promptly filled 100 bucks petrol again for free . . Duniya rude(cheat) hai toh kya. hum bhi dude hai

Exactly bhai. Except my Indian Oil fiasco happened at the end of the Hinjewadi Bridge where the Indian Oil is located.

Petrol Bunks that try to scam you

As we all are aware, there have been an increase in incidents of petrol pump attendants trying to dupe you by charging you extra than the actual amount.
This has happened to me twice at the Pune RTO BP petrol pump where the attendant tried to scam me.

I'll relate both the incidents.

Incident 1
A few weeks back I had gone to the said bunk and asked to fill up fuel for 200 bucks. After filling till 50, the attendant said that fill upto 250, you'll get around 4 litres, I said ok.

Now he started engaging me in conversation like "aap speed kyu nahi daalte, performance accha milega etc".

From that I figured out that he's gonna try something.

So after filling till 200 he stopped and said "sir ho gaya" and I said " abhi 50 baaki hai na". Sensing that I have caught on to him, he filled the rest 50.

Incident 2
This happened today at the same above said petrol bunk. So here, the lady before me had filled up her scooter till 200.

Next when I came he showed me the display at zero and before the petrol started filling, he said something about speed petrol pointing at my tank. So having experience before I knew this one's again gonna try to scam.

So while pointing at my tank, he showed me the display again which was showing previous amount of 200 from the lady's scooter and reset it zero. I thought there was some glitch and he was showing me zero again because the petrol hadn't started filling yet.

So after filling up the tank, the total amount came out to be 650 and I gave him 700. He said "Sir 850 hua na, pehle ka 200 and 650." I said "200 toh pehle wale scooter ka tha." To this he made a confused face and said as if unsure "Accha 650 hua." And gave me 50 change back.

So the 200 he showed me in the beginning before resetting wasnt a glitch but him trying to convince me that he has filled 200 worth of petrol even before the fuel started filling!

Its a true story with every city. I have faced it too. Now, with petrol machines getting advanced and less hackable, their only choice is to loot like this...

And now a days petrol pumps are allowing 3rd party people to sell their products inside the pump. Like lucky coupons of nearest malls, or some fancy items for vehicles. These way they can change our concentration on checking the petrol filling process.

Happens frequently i remember last i filled i asked for a full tank and when the meter hit Rs.200 he removed the nozzle to put it back i stopped him midway and told him i wanted a full tank, he then proceeded to fill upto brim and the total was around Rs.500, he said 500+200 filled before total 700. Because of people like these we have to be alert
