at all you are still keen on getting safe but higher performance from your vehicle, the only thing i would recommend will be the Head porting and polishing work and the Street high lift camshaft from Motozone along with their race CDI

Initially Shiv18 was very happy about the set up and he recommended RC everywhere. I had seen some thanks giving posts in FB as well. Also jonahmano had mentioned that he and his friend thought that Shiv18 is the chamcha of RC. So you decide on the advertising part now.

If you are getting your bike into hot roding arena, then you should keep in mind that you are screwing up the reliability of your stock bike. Whether it may be Motozone or RC, no one can give you the reliability of the stock. They can just compete with each other but they can never dream of competing with the stock set up in terms of reliability. Just for that 1 or 2bhp bump in power, we are spending thousands of hard earned money. Instead we can sell the existing machine and can go for bigger ones and have a peaceful mind without worrying about reliability etc.

Honestly, a better job could be done at a local ledh or even at home with a file.

I cant imagine some poor guy actually running with this piston. Its a disaster waiting to happen.

Damn those love bite marks on the piston top looks eerily similar to the piston sent to lucky luke or mad mik (can't remember properly) by haryono for fz 200cc haryono who was bashed in the modified fz 16 thread and the tooner was praised for his ground breaking research in the field of IC engines ( dude pass me the pot please :banghead: :banghead: )
This proves one thing that both haryono and the acclaimed tooner are 2 sides of same coin and are rip off merchants

    Re: The POWERHOUSE Fz18

Have been away for a long time now.. Let me share my story too

Its been more than 20,000kms with big bore.

33mm Carb & Simota air filter have been lying idle for a few months now. Have wrote it off as a loss.

Have reverted to stock exhaust since FFE is rusting badly at some areas, mainly because the battery acid leaked on that portion The low end grunt from stock exhaust has been quite a help in my off roading stint these days and no annoying backfiring like in FFE which always irritated me!!

Performance wise, I have no issues now. Getting a FE of 35-40kmpl for sane highway riding (< 100kmph). Riding consistently above 110kmph drops the FE to 30-35kmpl.
The engine oil consumption is minimal *touchwood*! It is a known fact that RTR consumes FS oil, so using semi synthetic these days and the level has been the same for 2700+kms.

Found a good mechanic to take care of the regular needs of the bike. Feeling a lot relieved after I gave up on hot rodding! The amount of hassles involved is simply not worth it, unless you have a trustworthy tuner like Motozone etc. Will have a look at the engine internals in the next service or so, praying that everything would be fine.

It feels very bad that people are rarely who we think they are. Had held that person in such high regard once upon a time and now I am ashamed that I even started a thread praising about the kits!

Anyways, now that Race Dynamics are offering Dyno tests, sab doodh ka doodh, paani ka paani ho jayega! (Translate : Everything will be revealed) They were offering free runs last week but sadly I couldnt make it.

@abhimanyu31 : I never thought he would stoop to this level!! How can someone even think of chiseling a piston??

@shv18 : You have done an amazing job mate! I would suggest you to make a blog with details of your hot rodding journey from day 1 and share the link on your signature. This thread has become too vast for any newbie to read fully and they will simply get lost in the middle.

Oh My God .....Looks like a chisel was used to gauge out the Valve recess ..I could see the marks of the tool used ,of the hit and miss areas...
I have no words to say ..I am stunned ..oh my god who in right mind will do such a thing ..and doing it so badly with no finesse .... is this the Research and development he is boasting about ... I am at a loss for words...wonder how the rest of the kit will be...all butchered...
Thank you Mr.Abhimanyu for sharing the image...gosh you have stunned me...
Good thing you chose to dump the whole project, and save your bike and yourself from further agony...don't let go of the money you paid..not when the person is so callous and does whatever he wants to...It is your hard earned money ,which must be rightfully returned to you.

Shocking! worst thing is you paid good money for it.....maybe it's just some inhouse development marks.

Before you go ahead with spending on kits from Indonesia or other countries, may i suggest that you connect with senior rider @abhimanyu31 first? He is currently cooking up something crazy with his R15.

Sounds interesting, will give him a buzz at some point, I won't be doing any mods until at least the next monsoon time.

Just adding some of my thoughts:

    * As per my experience with his personalised RC maps on my friend's R170 project, i finally figured out that Tooner doesn't know anything about how to prepare a proper fuel map for an R15 for street. Without Dyno/roller runs how can one create a fuel map still beats the logic! And Goa and Mumbai are at sea level conditions. So what works at an elevation of 2000 ft (blore for instance!!) will not work at sea level. Other way round an aggressive map made at blore will become even more richer at sea level eventually leading to plug fouling and FE hitting 15 - 18 kmpl. (Do correct me if i am going the other direction).

I was getting max 35 kmpl with the stock bike, with the current mods I get between 25-28 kmpl, running around 8-10% rich, with the "new" map it as a guess was around 32 kmpl (I only ran 150 kms) and usually changed or cleaned the spark plug every 1000 kms or so, fast high rpm riding seemed to help alot, but the opportunity to do this has diminished with roads being in poor condition and the quality (discipline) of other road users diminishing rapidly.

    * If you see the map values all of them will have extremely rich fuelling and so much advanced ignition timing that your vehicle will start knocking @ 6th gear above 120 kmph.

    * Also the so called head porting and polishing is not done properly from the Tooner's end which other way round results in charge robbing. If my hunch is right, like a moron he has shaved near about 1 mm from the head which has shot up the compression ratio beyond 13:1. You might be experiencing knocking noise at certain rpms which is nothing but pre-detonation of fuel even after going for your personal customised blend of 95 +RON fuel.

No issues with knocking with my fuel concoction, below is my cylinder head after it was returned, I don't think it looks shaved, you can still see the impression of the gasket.

    * I am sure that you must have gone through many sets of starter clutch/motors due to the absence of the decompressor assembly. The images shared by you clearly indicates that this piston is nothing but most likely sourced out from an outboard motorboat engine with the weight being on the wrong side which resulted in piston scuffing and eventually leading to oil ring failure and seizure. And most likely the Cylinder block was oval shape.

I have gone through the starter clutch/motor syndrome, replaced the motor with 2 new ones and rewound it 3 times. I was about to order a new camshaft with decomp provision a couple of months back, then HarishK had offered me a UMA cam which was lying with him, I agreed, then he just wasted my time and I didn't send my other order. As far as my research goes the current piston is actually designed for the LC135 series engine, which the R15 is derived from, I have had the head of twice recently, both times the block and piston were and are in good condition, I had a coolant leak from the water pump (O-ring had got damaged) which had seized the piston, but we managed to free it without damage, so far I am happy with the block/piston set and have covered around 8000 kms with it. Most aftermarket cams come without decomp facility for these bikes, a little googling and you will discover the starter clutch syndrome is not just related to the RC "kits" it's a trade off, there are a few with lower lift/duration which have the facility, though you will have less top end and peak power, but then again the streets are not race tracks.

As fellow hot roding enthusiast, i would urge you if it is possible do share your detailed ownership experience log on this thread so that Noobs and other readers get to read the first hand report on the same.
I agree others should read and read and read, then if you decide to go forward, then treat it as a hobby, if it's your only mode of transport, I suggest you invest in a bus pass as back up. For me I am 80% happy, I will get my ride to where I want it to be, I will most likely upgrade to the RC390, but will keep the old R15 as it is my first bike and have learned a lot from her.

Thanks again for coming forward and keep rocking

    Cheers,

Forget programming a ECU with fuel maps...You can't expect it from a Parts supplier who recommends Salvaged 32mm carb in place of 29mm for an increase of just 10cc in bore size. The fundamentals of air flow and Venturi Velocity are Greek and Latin to him.

I still believe it is possible to have a reliable daily ride that is fairly modified, you still run the risk of breakdowns, failures and niggles, you should expect it, but also treat it as a hobby, don't have blind faith in others, look at other forums and interact with others who are into the same hobby, remember many hobbies are expensive. R15=LC135(many variants), R125, FZ150i, Vixion. FZ16/Fazer = Byson, Nikasil block and piston set start at around 4000 and go to around 12,000 plus shipping and duties where applicable, there are many different qualities within that range, ultimately "you pays your money and makes your choice"
