[QUOTE=Lucky Luke;935690].....................taking off the decompressor does nothing! Idid it, and I know. /QUOTE]

    Hi Luke,

Thanks for the input. Actually I wanted to try out this tweak but after hearing from you about this, I'm not gonna try it out. Actually I'm very much scared to do any tweaks because I don't have any patience left to face the consequences. No matter how louder the cam is, I think I will ride her with the current setup till she dies.

      Hi,
Yes, you better be careful before removing the decompressor. The starter motor is a baby and will do much effort tying to crank without decomp. Many high end bikes (I am thinking of an Aprilla I was looking at recently) have a decompressor, and that does not cause problems with their camshaft/ valves. Aslso, if the bike back fires, there will be less damage to your starter clutch (and it back fires a lot with the RC camshaft - on my bike at least!
It is just like when he was "accusing" the "flimsy" rockers! Hahaha! Have you seen that massive chunk of metal? I think that Joel is just trying to "drown the fish" (French expression) to give excuses to his mistaken design.
When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

Just went through the whole thread, and WOW......
there's been quite a chatter, eh!!

i felt the need to post about my bike and clear the air (a honest effort that'll be). Coming to the point of the sound created by the rc cam, I’d say it is a tiny trade off for the actual performance that u attain. To be honest I cannot hear any sound at all while am riding, that’s coz the ffe drowns any other noise around it, and hey as long as the bike is reliable and performs like a rocket, I don’t care what noise the bike makes.
And regarding surpassing the 136kph mark, I’ve touched 138, haven’t recorded though. This was recorded and it touched 136 and held 135ish for almost 18 seconds flat.
          That is RELIABILITY.

Anything less reliable would have exploded under the load and stress. That is what race concepts delivers.

With regards to fuel effiency, i dunno about others but my stock fz sucked big time. I used to get 28kmpl. Yamaha’s quality control aint good at all. With the present setup I get on an average of 35kmpl. The stock bore started leaking oil when the odo reading was around 3k.

I’ve run close to 10k on the RC setup, and touch wood, the bore is still in pristine condition and not a drop oil is consumed. What more can one ask sans the “stitching noise” which I cannot hear at all unless when I return back home and park the bike in the garage with the engine still running

My setup’s done almost 10k till date with no problems whatsoever. Recently, I heard a loud noise while riding and when I took it Joel, he said the crank had to be replaced. Got that done and am back to riding the mini beast.

I’d say we folks tend to take power for granted till we are reminded again, a few days back I rode my friend’s stock FZ and I couldn’t control my laughter at how poor everything was. The only plus point was that I coudnt hear anything at all

Off the record, i told Joel that i want more from my FZ, i might get another bike but the FZ was my first bike gifted by Mom , and am gonna keep it till either of us die. Lets see, um, what if the r15's heart can be transplanted onto the FZ's.
Now its clear that the cam noise has nothing to do with RELIABILITY.
Since rylan has completed 10K with oscassional speed run's we can say the products and reliable and the cam noise is a toss for performance

            U lost me mate.
Occasional speed run? Nada. This may have been recorded occasionally :P, coz the phone cam needs to be installed on the bar and that is a PITA.

I hit Nice road atleast couple of times a week and I attain these speeds quite comfortably the oil change frequency is on the higher side though.

About the "stitching noise", um, it's heard when the idle drops below 1500. Above it nothin at all is heard other than the obvious :P

Even I'm living with the stitching noise Though I used to worry about it during the initial days I'm not much interested now
I'm still waiting for the SS RC FFE. Hope I wont hear any unwanted noise than the roar.

Had a chance to check out the SS ffe prototype, it's badass mate. U needn't worry about the rusting or whatever, just install and enjoy the music. U'll just have to refill the glass wool every 3-4k.

Joel too said it's going to be filled with fiberglass. So no need to worry about that. And that is some freakishly long waiting period.

                        Ah bugger,
I just assumed u need to refill like any other free flow
But, hey, u'll never get to see soot underneath your nails, and when u done refilling, the joy of seeing "silver" fly out with first crank and change in the roar which is subdued but ready to explode once the revs climb to the redline. Jeez, I love my exhaust without the fibre glass wool

How can you manage to ride without the wool ? For me its ear bleedigly loud and can't stand it even with the db killer on ( my current setup)and since i love to tour that 's not exactly ideal .and the sound quality without wool is really not that good. Glasswool is the best bet but it burns ip fast. Fiber glass will be quiter and last longer.

                          Cheers

                            • Nice to hear that few people made most of the modds with very less money but surely people in Bangalore don't have to worry a pinch about the consequences which I have mentioned about the big-bore because they have Joel in their area and they would get their bike tuned at any time without spending much money like us.

What's reliable for one or two people can't be considered as the term reliability. Many people have inboxed me with their kits seized within 1500 kms just as mine, so i'm not the only person who suffered with bad luck.

The problem arises to people who are far from Joel. There are people who I know have told me that nobody wants to touch the bike modded by Joel. How is that then?

All I have to say is I'm just here to help people and wise people will understand what is right and what is not. Again I'm saying there is nothing wrong in getting their bikes modded but be sure to read this whole thread and also the parallel thread of Powerhouse Fz-16 before you get the babe modded.

I just don't want to have another jonahmano with no knowledge of the consequences of hot rodding and blame Joel.

                                Hey Rohan,

Am here to help too, and am not trying to open old wounds mate. To state facts, there are more than just 2 in this xbhp fraternity who have modded their bikes and had really good results.
Glad that am one among those folks, and am sorry for what u've gone through. When I was getting my bike modded I bumped into a chap who's been running the setup for almost 20k without a single drop of oil being burnt.
