They are planning to re-introduce two stroke bikes in Indian Market. Two strokes are notorious for the pollution it creates. But what made Bajaj to introduce two strokes again in a country with such strict restrictions? Its the GDi . GDi stands for Gasoline Direct Injection . Bajaj has already launched Three wheelers with GDi It is a big leap in the two-stroke technology and we are working to get it on our bikes and other two-wheelers. The gasoline direct injection (GDi) engine has substantially lower emissions than even alternate clean fuels like CNG and LPG. Additionally, it has lower operating costs than four-stroke technology that currently dominates the bike marketi technology for its two-wheeler products in the next few months.Originally posted by blisteringintelligence View PostIt is a RDI - Rumour Direct Injection by the source...

Some one rightly said - Research is what i am doing when i don't now what i am doing.Originally posted by Sumit_Singh View PostThey are planning to re-introduce two stroke bikes in Indian Market. As said in economic times by a senior Bajaj Auto executive -
“It is a big leap in the two-stroke technology and we are working to get it on our bikes and other two-wheelers. The gasoline direct injection (GDi) engine has substantially lower emissions than even alternate clean fuels like CNG and LPG. Additionally, it has lower operating costs than four-stroke technology that currently dominates the bike market.” Bajaj Auto is likely to customize the GDi technology for its two-wheeler products in the next few months.

Wake up.. If research would have been like this i would have ended up being a research analyst..
AS pointed out by Mr. Firestarter 2-Strokes cannot be manufactured in India at this point of time. Abroad Aprilia still sells 2-strokes but In india you will have to wait and wait long...
Yamaha would have launched their Rd350 again keeping in view the price a second hand Rd commands..
So if you are expecting 2 strokes from bajaj my friend you will end up waiting all your life...
Maybe this is another speculative topic up for grabs...Last edited by blisteringintelligence; 06-09-2009, 11:36 PM.

Two strokers are not banned in India, whoever thinks so is wrong its just that most of the Two strokers find it difficult to meet the emission norms.Originally posted by insanebiker View Post^ Which planet are u in?
Two strokers are banned for production in India.
And FYI, GDi can be implemented on 4 stroke engines too!
Still we have Scooty Teenz and TVS XL super both two stroke.
And also today i saw a news in CNBC that RTR 180 may be launched on 15th June.Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.

I guess the Indian govt has limited the ban upto a particular capacity. But i am sure that there is a ban, given the stringent pollution norms.

Yeah i guess some tweaking is done with the engine to satisfy the emission norms. Maybe speed and pickup is compromised or something. But i am pretty sure 2 stroke Motorcycles cannot be manufactured here.
AFAIK Yamaha discontinued RX135 5S in 2004, when people were still buying it. If production was allowed it would have continued it rather than producing bikes like the Crux...
