Re: Motorcycle speed limit in India
That's awful. You should still be awarded by them for riding a duke below 50 km/hOriginally posted by rohitj View PostLast week got challaned for over speeding on my duke...was riding at 49kmph..

I think while the Indian bureaucrats were copying the US road safety and guidance document they did copy 50 speed limit for motorcycles, but forgot to copy the units.
It should be 50 mph rather than 50 kmph.

Re: Motorcycle speed limit in India
Actually I do long trips on my duke every mnth so I fullfill my speed thirst on highways..moreover on dat day I noticed cop sitting behind bushes holding speed gun.thats why I droped my speed from 57 thought that speed limit is 55...but all efforts wasted..paid 700 in police lines...n frm dat day I alwys try to maintain speed below 45 but duke refuses to stay cool...she starts throwing hot air after a while....

Costly and 'fast' looking bikes are generally targeted by the police.
I have several occasions of policemen stopping me to check for papers and any illegal modifications.
Just like that! No reason at all..!!!
Issuing a Chalan for +4kmph from the idiotic speed limit is just way too far....
Sorry to hear that bro!

Re: Motorcycle speed limit in India
Agreed speed limit should be increased... lets say even 70 kph. But how many will follow even that. i have seen guys ripping past me over 100 kph. Point is even if the Government increases the speed limit, majority will still be breaking it. Trust me accidents at 50kph can kill as well.Everybody has their own version of TRUTH!!!!!!

Re: Motorcycle speed limit in India
Well since the question of comparison has been between cars speed limit and bikes so i would like to point it out that just like a way the cops think your duke can't do 90 the same thing applies with crummy BMW'S or Benz and other creme la creme cars. I also live in NCR and i frequently use the noida greater noida expressway were there is same speed check but the fast cars also run in the same speed limit as of a 800.
I agree with others said that rules are for masses but I also share the common frustration of being hustled by the cops

I totally agree with you brother. I have been in an accident at 50 due to which I was on bed for 3 weeks and i still have scars from it.Originally posted by ajextreme View PostAgreed speed limit should be increased... lets say even 70 kph. Re: Motorcycle speed limit in India
The Indore bypass in Madhya Pradesh has a speed limit of 100 kmph. It is NOT mentioned that this limit is for cars, trucks or two wheelers. Just 100 is written on a board. All kind of vehicles are allowed on the Indore bypass. what say guys?

Yes, that is the Ultadanga Flyover. You can go towards Airport from E.M.Bypass via VIP road if you take this one. Last year it came down and is now being reconstructed. And in Rajarhat also there is a flyover.Originally posted by Divyanshp150 View PostIm not sure its the curved meaneding one that we use to go to the airport via rajarhat. Didnt it fall last season? And yes, ridiculously there are several signboards indicating the speed limit of 20kmph! It is obvious that when you take a turn or are on the ascend on a flyover, you should be extra cautious. But 20 kmph is too less. With all the cars and bikes jostling for an inch of open space, such low speeds are more risky. I know it myself as I have to negotiate the flyover every day on my way home from my office in Salt Lake Sector Five.Last edited by krishna77; 07-15-2014, 09:25 PM.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.
